You can, and that's a legitimate roster management strategy.
-
Thanks. Can I trade my catchers after 162 games played?
-
Yes, you'll use the lineups tab to set your lineup each day. You can put one or two C in the lineup. You're limited to 162 total games played, but you can start two C on the same day and they'll both count. This makes it easier to hit the games played cap, and also lets you double up if you have good matchups. But if you fill both slots every day, you'll hit the games cap early and won't be able to earn points from those spots the rest of the season.
-
CGP......You can use one, two, or no catchers on any given day/night. But you can not exceed 162 games played at the C position over the course of the season. Once you reach that 162 game limit, you have maxed out the C position.....

I assume we use the Lineups tab once the season starts. Do we only put one c in the lineup? thanks

...Remember from here on out, any players you cut, you only get half their salary back into your budget, so a $4, would still cost you $2, a $9 player stills costs you $5 if you cut them UNLESS someone ends up picking them up, then you get the full credit. Here is a link to in-season auctions btw...https://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/ottoneu-101-in-season-auctions/

draft is closed, trades and auctions are open. Update those trading blocks. For the newbies, if you want to pick up a free agent, you have to start an auction for them. The auction takes 48 hours and min. bid is $1. You need to fit them into your $400 budget. The winner of the auction only has to pay $1 more than the next highest bid, so you could bid $20, but if the next highest bid is just $8, you'll get them for $9....

Edge is a terrible browser, but it may very well work fine for the draft. I recommend Chrome or Firefox. That being said, click on Auction Draft and see if you can add players to your watchlist and then close it and re-open and see if they're still there. I imagine some folks will be in the draft up to an hour early if you want to test the chat then.

Is there a way to test the auction site before hand? Is Edge a decent browser? Thanks

...nothing slows down a draft like waiting for a nomination. Some folks burn through their budgets quickly and leave early, some stay all the way through for the bargains. Remember, you are under no obligation to fill your team at the draft, you can always leave money in your budget and roster spots open as long as you follow the "at least $1 left for each open roster spot". Other than that, if you have questions...feel free to ask.

Reminder that our draft is Sunday at 2pm EST, 1 pm CST, 11am PST. Please try and arrive 5 minutes early. If you click on "Auction Draft" in the upper left, you can see the draft layout if you're unfamiliar with it or need a refresher. On the bottom left you'll find the player search and can start adding players to your watchlist. We usually do 2-3 rounds of nominations and take 5 minute breaks and I expect the draft to last 3 hours or so. Please have a player ready to nominate when it'

The voted off players are considered restricted free agents and should have 'RFA' after their name as opposed to 'FA'. They need to be nominated the same as any other player. The auction proceeds as normal and if it was your player, the $5 discount will be applied if you win the auction (it happens immediately). In past years, when someone nominates an RFA, I try to mention which team owned them.

How will the players voted off auction work? When do they get nominated? And does the $5 discount for our guy get figured in automatically? Thanks.

Currently it's set to only pay by e-check and there's no extra fee for that, if you really want to pay by credit or debit card, I can change the settings, but it's a 4% fee then for either option so I'd prefer those who want to pay by e-check get their chance first and if anyone really wants to pay by credit or debit, I'll switch it closer to the deadline.

You should have gotten an invite to pay your $40 buy-in fee through leaguesafe.com. Draft day is March 18th, please try to pay by then...actual deadline is April 25th. If you don't wish to participate in the pool(although I hope you do), please email or message me through ottoneu privately so I don't keep bugging you. Payout is (roughly) 50%($240), 25%($120), 15%($72), 10%($48) for the top 4 spots.

Nope. Wife is pregnant with our first, so we're going on a road trip before we're tied down. Just kind of driving and camping around the southwest for a week. I'll probably draft from Moab, Utah, then we'll spend a day or two in Canyonlands or Arches NP. We'll probably make our way into northern AZ, but not to spring training.
-
Will you be in AZ going to spring training?
-
2pm EST is probably as good a time as any for me. I'll be in Mountain time, so that's noon. I'll find a sandwich shop with wifi to get lunch at.
-
sorry Rhys. If there's a 2-3 hour time window after 2pm EST/11 am PST that works best for you, please let us know. I've changed it back to 2pm EST on the 18th for now. Happy to push it later in the day, up to 6/7pm EST if that helps.

That sounds inconvenient. If March 18 is really the only day that works for everybody, I can probably manage to find a spot with wifi for a few hours.

I suppose we could try an hour a night or something over the course of a week or two depending on what days work but that sounds painful. We can pause the draft.

That's a problem for me, unfortunately. I joined another ottoneu league this season and it is drafting at 7:00 p.m. on 3/4. I committed to that today when I thought we were set for 2:00 p.m. Since we have 3-4 hours max., I wonder if late on a weekday might work. Sorry for the bother.
