I will say this: Cole was posted on July 7, and in three days I received almost no interest. Tried a couple offers that were either rejected with no follow up, or ignored. So, not certain what process I ignored here. I like the value I received. Maybe being new to Ottoneu means I was rolled. But, learning means taking your lumps. Besides, as I said, I like the value here for my team. And, again, I am willing to answer questions. The attack feels unnecessary.

I assume that I am the one who did not get enough value...i am willing to answer questions about the trades.

That’s a couple of questionable return in trades in the last few weeks between Des Moines and Polar Bear. Starting to question whether there’s a connection there. If your gonna trade a stud player, you need to wait the process to give enough time for offers to come in. As well as making these trades while no one is really paying much attention right now. I’m monitoring these two together in future trades. Surely no one would cheat or get any satisfaction from winning by cheating.

Hope everyone is doing well, looking forward to some baseball in a few weeks! Looking to make some trades, let me know if anyone on my trade block or my roster in general catches your eye
-
Polar Bear - I know you’re not trying to pull a fast one here, so no worries. Gotta give our format’s founder lots of credit for foreseeing this possibility in our constitution
-
No worries Commish, this is an odd situation. I’m glad to have you at our helm.
-
Well, there you go!
-
Apparently that is still controlled by Rule V, section g:
"The team that dropped the player may not nominate or bid on the player until 30 days after the drop date, unless the keeper deadline or the league's auction draft occurs in between the drop date and the player's new auction."

The reason I had asked about Betances was because misunderstood the effect of Rule V, section i:
"If a team changes ownership, the new owner is given the opportunity to make one round of penalty-free cuts."

Puig's Driver: This is the first time I claimed a team post-auction. In prior experience, the free cuts did not prevent me from nominating players during the auction, and I thought that this would also apply post-draft. But the rules do specifically mention this, which I had missed before.

Given my uncertainty, I was going to err on the side of allowing polar bear to bid.
-
It is not exactly clear the rule, at least not to me. Maybe the fact that polar bear cannot place a bid means the 30 day wait also applies to penalty free cuts. Is that the understanding of others?
-
Being entitled to free cuts as a one time accommodation for new owners seems entirely reasonable. However, giving a new owner special re-auction privileges within 30 days just because the cuts were free is a bridge too far. Commish, I’m surprised you even considered this. What would be the argument for doing so - am I missing something?
-
No dice. Thanks for trying, Commish!

I'm not sure how to change this for Betances. I've set your team to penalty free cuts temporarily. Maybe this will work. Try to place your bid again and let me know how it goes.
-
Betances was one of my free cuts after I took over the team, why am I not allowed to bid on him?

Scherzer's age as well as his salary explains the deal to me. Scherzer turns 36 in July and with the increasing uncertainty over whether there will even be baseball in 2020, it's possible two very strong prospects were swapped for an expensive age 37 season of Scherzer (if he's retained for next year). Anyway, that's how I would explain my take on the deal to a newcomer to ottoneu.
-
Agree with Des Moines. Scherzer is very expensive and could start declining any day. And while those prospects may not play this year (I think Brujan has a chance), they are good bets to at least gain value if they stay on an upward trajectory. I might not have pulled the trigger on it, but it doesn't feel like collusion or anything like that.
-
Scherzers salary is what evens this deal out for me. Even at his best there probably isn't much surplus value from him at this salary. He will likely be dropped next season due to his salary. It depends too on how you value prospects, which varies quite a bit among owners. Seems like a fair enough deal, especially without a substantial loan involved.
-
I am new to ottoneu, so I need some guidance: are prospects this valuable? Two guys who likely won't see the majors this year, and will cost $4 to keep next year. I get that Scherzer is maybe injured, but in other formats, this trade is difficult to understand. Do not want to throw bombs, not my intention, just want guidance.

Yeah I think 2 sounds about right.

1.5 to 2 hours max. Does that sound about right fellas?

Roughly how long have these drafts taken in the past?

Which makes the official tally, with 11 having voted: Five with preference for Feb. 23, Three with preference for March 22, and Three with no preference. So the final vote will not be able to change the majority. And March 22 would cut out Hamel, but all can make it Feb. 23 (thank you for your flexibility Nimmo). Mark your calendars - draft date Sunday, Feb. 23 at 2 pm Central Time. Thanks!
-
My preference is for Feb. 23 but can do either
-
I'm good either day as well
-
Thanks for having me in the league! Would prefer February 23rd but can do March as well if that works better for everyone

Either work for me, but March 22 is slightly better
-
March 22 is my vote
-
So let's vote: Feb. 23 at 2 pm CT or March 22 at 4 pm CT?
-
Gentlemen (I assume), Nimmo is generously agreeing to work around his schedule to draft on Feb. 23 but has to start at 2 pm. The other option for a Sunday before the season starts would be March 22.
