Hey Brew, what did you call that clone? Duvall? It’s unbelievable Snitker is apparently going to use Melancon instead of just sending Fried back out there.

Potentially punishing folks who haven't done anything wrong is the poster-child for not making sense.
-
Brew, I figured folks would understand why I posted that...and realize the harder you all slam the barn door shut after my team was already out of the barn, the bigger the advantage to my team (so I should vote for it). Of course when it comes to league rules I would never vote purely out of self-interest, but rather only for what actually makes sense.
-
Honestly it's totally not the end of the world if we leave it as is. I'm with Henry ,we announce who cant be arbbed before arbriteation begins
-
I only said 12th and 11th to get mikeys vote, again ,as indicated, my proposal was a compromise
-
Didnt you say previously you'd agree to anything that doesn't include banishment?
-
i.e., that he should be punished for if this happens in the future, that the current rules failed to punish him for...
-
Brew, In Capped FC Brent finished in 11th place, please give me your most eloquent explanation of what it is you think Brent should be punished for.
-
And Kloobs, as self-appointed God's gift to FB, I know you think you have the right to demand that everyone value players for trades the exact same way you do, and that everyone play the game the exact same way you do, but guess what I don't value players the way you do and I will continue to run my team as I see fit, not how you see fit. Spend more time on your team and less time on mine and you might even win a ring one day before I die.
-
Kloobs, When rings start getting handed out for not finishing last, then I'll care. I care about rings, 12th place can be a stepping stone to a ring. Every Champion in this league, except Mikey, has an 11th or 12th place finish on their resume.
-
Brew, You're making the assumption that only teams that are tanking will ever finish 11th or 12th. That means you're assuming your incentive will be a failure, so why should anyone vote for it?
-
Not punishment, incentive to compete
-
I vote yes. Or alternately, NGB could just tell us the rule that he himself thinks is needed to prevent him from trading superstars in April and May for guys not in the majors. What’s it gonna take to make you care about not finishing last?
-
Punishment should only be for breaking rules. Since this proposal would include punishing teams that innocently finish at the bottom (i.e., didn't break any rules), I vote NO.
-
This applies to next year, so we cant vote Adell back into the draft
-
I vote yes
-
I move we vote on the following compromise proposal : 12 th and 11 th have player voted off team who has not had a mlb at bat/,inning . 10th sends 9th beer everything else stays same. 4th through 8th declares a player to not get arbed before Oct 15th.
-
That Braves game last night made me hostile . Shades of when st Louis was down to their last strike vs Texas in WS . Dink and dunk hits and a series of good fortune

What I want to know is what quid pro quo happened between Mechanics and Niv to move Mechanics into 6th and drop me to 7th. 0.7 pts?! Come on!!
-
I don't really see much reason to change any of the Capped FC rules. I do think that "protect a player from arbitration" should be pre-arb.

I needed starts from Maeda and as soon as I had him, the Dodgers made him a reliever.

Seems ironic to me, that my Capped FC team triggered all this discussion, yet that team did not make a single trade that was in any way relevant to the four teams that could have been made king, and the competitive balance was the best of any season I've been a part of. Just an observation, not advocacy for any particular course of action, feel free to carry on.
-
Kenta is already back. I have a recurring dream he becomes the Dodgers closer and gets 50 saves, always “next year.” He looked good last night.

You’re probably right, I don’t like it either and have never voted against an ottoneu trade, but trades get veto votes all the time here, even innocuous ones. My last minute trade with Henry in Capped, Maeda and Murphy for Bauer, Anderson, and Pressly, somehow got a vote against. WTF? I don’t think Maeda and Murphy lasted 3 weeks before Henry cut them both.

I don’t like vetoing a trade, and certainly not out of competitive self-interests. I’ve run a league for 15 years that has never had one vetoed. But we’ve never had the issue these leagues have, and it’s clear that we as a group also are not going to veto any trade, ever, so it isn’t a useful tool.
-
Or maybe we think it’s a slippery slope from vetoing a trade that obviously affects the league’s competitive balance and voting against a trade that might not be so clear-cut but that could make a competitor better than me?

Isn’t 2a what veto votes are for? Are we too apathetic to vote? Or do we disagree on what’s unacceptable? Or are we reluctant to face the reaction that trade vetoes can provoke?

Side prop bets get me motivated, and identifying a villain(s) who you just want to beat. As a middle packer I tried like hell to add more points for the now.
-
The “2a” for me, is #1 alone. It’s the only problem I have with either league.
-
I think I like that too. And if we’re looking for ideal dead weight, let’s not forget this guy: https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/1011/playercard?id=18351

One other note. I would be fairly opposed to voting players off. My preferred penalty would be dead roster slots. That is, if you break whatever rule we are proposing, next year the commish would add some useless player(s) to your roster (Junior Lake, Tim Tebow, etc) and you would be obligated to carry him for the entire season.
-
I'll be offline for a few hours, but before I go I should say that, while I did just post a summary of what folks seems to view as problems, I do not consider those things problems. I will go along to get along if the majority can coalesce around a particular issue to "fix".
-
What's the logical outcome of the 4:4:4 scheme Mikey? If it works, nobody is tanking and 4 teams get punished for nothing more than having a down season. Then it's nothing more than a rob the poor to pay the rich scheme. Way to go liddle Trump.
-
There is also a 2a, though it hasn't been brought up here yet, people feel that rebuilding teams are altering the competitive balance for competing teams by not rostering enough above-replacement-level-players and by making "kingmaker" type trades
-
Before we launch into a ton of proposed rule changes, what problems are we trying to solve? The two things bandied about so far are 1 - maybe people that finish in the middle of the pack don't feel motivated to compete, and, 2 - people are offended by how far rebuilding teams are bottoming out.
-
Man, I should not post before my 6th cup of coffee in the morning. Ignore my previous (deleted) comments about the Soto trade—I guess I couldn’t get my head around the idea of NGB trading prospects FOR someone. The other part, about vote-offs based on loan out totals, was slightly more serious. I don’t like the idea of vote-offs but will go along with whatever all y’all want to do.

Yes, I did decide to fire-sale and give up on the season. Had I needed to stay in the middle group or lose players I probably wouldn’t have. Also, I like the idea of the loaning team being penalized. Why not have both teams pay?
-
This -> Top 4 get a pay out, bottom 4 penalized, middle 4 spend their time trying join or avoid one of the other two groups.
-
I think it might be backwards that the buying (competing) teams pay the tax, since we want to foster competition. Maybe the sellers should have to match their loan $$ with real $$ into the pot.
