My criteria for a new owner simply is he is not a Republican
-
There is a guy up here who is interested in otto and is in a couple of other FBB leagues. I've played in one league with him once and he was pretty active. Could keep him as a backup or something. He will not be like the other guy that completely flaked
-
Anyone who has played a few years with a few of us. I don’t think anyone is in another league with Henry (I might be wrong, but I haven’t heard any chat about another league), so it’s too bad he doesn’t have any leads.

Will the circle be unbroken
-
That said, I've played with Chris for a few years. He is a good owner, I would not object.
-
Bat, what precisely is the circle. I am not positive I disagree with you, just wondering which managers would you feel are impartial, other than Henry?
-
Holy crap, the level of geekdom on here is amazing! I love it!
-
I was hard core D& D player for many years , then started playing Baldurs Gate on the PC
-
I never got into the Simarillion, but I am a big Lord of the Rings fan -- and my daughter loves the movies.

Ha ha Henry ! I'm a total Lord of The Rings and Simarillion nerd
-
I'm not a good recruiter. The two best managers in my immediate circle are my brother and my nephew and they're both "one-league-is-enough" stick-in-the-muds. Ottoneu has no power over them and they have no desire for it.

Peter Jackson is probably working a 9-hour trilogy right now that's just about Tom Bombadil. And ninja elves, of course.

Bombadill preceeded Sauron and perhaps Morgoth himself on middle earth , the ring had no power over him and he had no desire for it.

Disagree otherwise. If I feel there’s someone I just can’t play with, then I leave the league, not start some divorce settlement. And I’d prefer a replacement not come from the same circle; maybe Henry can define someone.

Agree with this Bombadil take, though when I re-read the books a couple years ago I was surprised that the Bombadil chapter was not as long, bad, and pointless as I remembered. Still long, bad, and pointless though.

My take is Bombadill is was like an extended Tolkien acid trip in the books that was probably best left out of the movies
-
very dissapointed Peter Jackson couldnt include the visit with Tom Bombadail in his movies , or Sarumen (sharkey) and wormtongue scouring of the Shire
-
is he Carolina hill folk ??
-
All that said, if y’all want a good active owner taking his spot, Chris Mann, of the foxtrotting ninjas franchise, who has played with Hook and Brent in various leagues, is willing to step in.
-
oh please, i dont think anything except an empty beer would upset Kevin , hes like Tom Bombadill with his wife Goldberry
-
with me instigating NGB’s departure...
-
Wit ? Wit beer ?
-
To be clear, there wasn’t a gentle prod from a “we” pushing NGB out. There was an OFFER, BY ME, that I’d leave one of the leagues if he’d leave the other. I didn’t want to participate in any league with him in it for another season, so splitting them seemed a reasonable solution. He responded by leaving both. If y’all are so sad to see him go, I’m sure you could talk him into returning and I’ll leave instead. I’m really only here to play with Kevin, who also isn’t happy wit
-
Henry can procure some mighty fine wine with his winnings
-
Supplemental payouts will go out tonight
-
I believe we decided 300/110/90/70 with $20 being held for a beat Kevin bonus.
-
There were two late payees. I thought one at first, but it turned out to be a two when I double checked.
-
Mikey, I'm actually fairly confident it is me. I just sent Hook the $$
-
I just paid out the Capped league. Let me know if there are any issues (other than your team stunk so you didn’t get a payout).
-
Regarding public shaming, it looks like I’m probably the one missing the payment. I have no recollection, but my guess is that when I took over treasurer duties in the other league I completely forgot about the extra fee in this one. I feel appropriately shamed. Sorry 😳
-
I hope that wasn’t too hard of a prod—no one should be speaking for anyone but themselves about what “we” want in a league. And if they’re not happy, maybe they’re the person who should move on?

Nope, you paid. I owe you an extra $100 though.
-
Mechanics, thanks for the Merry Prankster reference, as you probably know, that has special meaning for a Deadhead!! Hook, I honestly can't remember if I'm one of the guys who still owes league fees (I strongly doubt it), if I am please let me know.
-
Joe, don't go! Patrick won't have anyone to banter with about obscure baseball statistics from the olden days! Seriously, it would be a shame to see you leave the league.
-
Greetings All, Not sure how much longer I'll have access to the site, so better get this done today. The last thing I want is any drama or attention. A quiet exit is the ideal. With a prod from a league member I've come to the conclusion that I'm just not a good fit and too disruptive vis-a-vis what you all want in a league. Simple as that, and really a no-brainer. I've loved being a part of your community of rabid baseball fans... carry on.
-
I agree with Henry
-
I'm sorry to hear that NGB is leaving. Fantasy Baseball shouldn't be taken too seriously, and NGB was a merry prankster, poking at the presumption of it all. NGB, I hope you reconsider.

Also, supplemental payouts are on the way, but I am still missing one $20 contribution. If you never paid your $20 this Spring or when I sent a recent reminder, please paypal $20 to johndavidhook@gmail.com so I may compensate our winners. Public shaming is next.
-
Assuming he won't return, we have an opening. Our preferences would be for someone willing to play in both leagues, who has a fair bit of experience with fantasy baseball, and is known by at least one of us, ideally in real life, but just over the net is OK too. 2 of 3 is probably good. Please let us know if you know someone who fits.
-
In other bad news, NGB has decided to leave both leagues. I would encourage everyone to give it your best go to change his mind, but he has been very firm with me so far.
-
Boooo st Louis wins game 4
-
Btw, you can click on your roster , in addition to seeing tax applied, you can see eligible positions for 2020
-
He wanted to get to 1000 $ salary. He wanted a guarentee of a championship to beat Hitch to winning one. His words, not mine. Winner is Charles who is well loaded and stocked for 2020.
-
Something else that gets less discussion than it should: NGB built a team that could have won for three years straight. He didn't really need to make those trades, he just did it to make some sort of point about the league. He didn't really end the year with a better team, just a more expensive one.
-
I havent really followed these conversations too much. Sorry, 150 otto emails hitting me after I get off the river.
However, I do agree with what Hook just said - this whole dynasty trading / positioning is a FEATURE of this league, not a bug. Unlimited keepers, arbitration, and loan trades are the point of the otto format. This is the format we signed up for.
-
The idealized long-term dynasty league where you can go from last to first in a year, and its a crazy dog-fight for eighth place, and no one makes bad trades, and everyone is going for it every year does not exist. We are not going to be the ones who make it happen with a clever rule tweak.
-
I would like to point out that true dynasty leagues are generally far less competitive in the 4-12 slots than otto. Especially in a mature league, the top teams are fairly entrenched and everyone else is looking to position for the future.
-
I think the thing that makes these league so intriguing is the dynasty aspect, which should ramp down the “go for broke” aspect in favor of building a dynasty. I do agree that the purpose of the Capped league was to experiment in hopes of coming up with things to improve this league. In that context I think maybe we learned that we might be on the right track, but perhaps we haven’t gone far enough yet.
-
You've clearly forgotten the last couple years of AARIP. We've yet to have anyone accused of running a dummy team to rig trades, or anyone described in words you don't say to an umpire.
