Actually it’s now two games (the Phillies’ (who played the Marlins) game with the Yankees is also postponed.
-
4 days into the season and a team is having to postpone games due to covid. Can someone explain why having the season was a good idea?
-
looking at last years standings , two things stick out. Cotton has a damm good year, everybody was above 15 k points
-
So payouts are 200/100/50
-
I believe we decided on rolling the side pot into next year and no arbitration. This league only has a $20 side pot though. It is still a $50 league with standard Otto payouts.
-
My Cubs will not win 30 games, unfortunately. I see 24 and 36.
-
Hook can you provide an update like Mikey did in the capped league. Are we playing for any stakes in this league this year?
-
Also , basebsll is starting right when winds and weather shifts to sw and west winds at Wrigley , adjust lineups accordingly
-
I predict Reds and White Sox in WS ( if season is completed )
-
His elbow opted out a while ago
-
Jordan hicks opted out
-
Now we can start the clock on Tork.

We knew this moment would come. We just didn’t know it would happen this soon. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will make first base his primary position moving forward, per Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet (via Twitter).

Kopech opted out

That is basically how I am viewing this season - setting lineups for something to do.
-
Niv makes a good argument for keeping arb as well. I guess Ill hit the snooze button until Feb 2021. Maybe ill set lineups just for something to do.
-
Ill just say that without arbitration and no side pot at all, why are we even calling this a season? I understand that we think MLB may not happen, so this is a play it safe method. But basically all we are accomplishing is making it a terrible idea to trade any small contracts to try and win. We are basically moving into a pre-2021 draft mode already. Also, without arb, will anyone even be cut? We may not even need a draft next year. Anyway - I dont "object" but Im groaning loudl
-
Sorry for late feedback. Need to get re-engaged with baseball (assuming/hoping they are actually able to pull this off). I think there is so much uncertainty this year that the sidepots should be rolled over. I'm okay either way with arbitration - I can see argument for both sides and don't feel strongly on that one. If pressed, I'd probably lean towards no arb for this year, because I'm not sure a season is really going to be completed.
-
Arbitration was closer to 50/50. Mikey, Bats, and Brew were against; Hitch and Kevin for. Brent in theory against if we are rolling side pots. I am against arbitration if we are rolling side pots. That may make it 5-2 in favor of no arbitration. Unless someone objects, I say we do not arbitrate this off-season.
-
Scrolling through the message board it seems like the consensus was rolling over side pots to next year, in this league at least.
-
Innings limit will be 560. 60 GP for batters, 300 GP for OF. You can find all the updated rules on the Community board: https://community.ottoneu.com/t/covid-19-changes-for-the-2020-mlb-season/7611/3
-
Anyone know what the innings limit will be? I assume it’ll just be prorated, but haven’t seen anything on it.
-
I wonder if Riley ends up playing some 1B if Freeman isn’t ready at the start of the season (or doesn’t play at all). Especially since there’s some local chatter about Puig as a Markie replacement. I think adding Puig to Albies and Acuña could make for entertaining baseball, with the bonus of McCann rolling over in his grave. Unlikely the non-Frenchy parts of the broadcast crew make it through 60 games of that.

Yeah Brew it’s Kingery that’s the mystery, not Freeman. Though RR reports Kingery responsibly (“undisclosed”) too. Looks like it’s RotoWire that adds the “COVID-19” to Kingery...maybe they think they’re doing a public service.

On Rosters Resources , they list people like Freeman as undisclosed illness, they have Riley as DH
-
Yeah Brew, that’s why Mikey is pointing out the Kingery status is so weird. We’re not supposed to know if someone is on the covid list—they should look like Freeman. We know he’s on the IL due to covid19 because he’s told us, not because his IL designation comes with a big red COVID.

teams legally cant say if its Covid, platers can on their own volition, of course
-
many indictae if they are no symptoms Covid positive, whcih still requires two weeks isolation, but they can work out at home at least
-
Yeah, I’m not sure how they’re doing this. Salvador Perez also tested positive, but he’s just DTD.
-
So much for HIPAA concerns over non-baseball health issues. Though I guess going on this list doesn’t mean the player has covid19 or has tested positive for the virus. Freeman’s IL designation doesn’t highlight anything, and he hasn’t made a secret about why he’s out. Anyway Mikey, it seems like roster management for the covid19 list will be difficult for mlb teams too.

Interestingly, Kingery just popped up with a “COVID-19” designation and an extra roster spot just opened up on my roster. At this rate salary caps are going to be tough to manage.
-
This is going to a strange season
-
Speaking of opt outs Brew, did you see that Markakis is out? Freddie getting sick spooked him. This could be good news for your man Riley.

Thanks. I’m leaving Strip in an RP slot but I’d like to see him get some starts. Unfortunately the Dodgers know he can handle being a reliever.

They are going 6 man rotation ,at least first few weeks , even if not, due to schedule Urias will be a wingman out of pen due to the schedule having predominantly rh hitting teams
-
Okay, I thought there might be something else. Did Roberts or Friedman say something specific about May, or is this your call?

Thanks Rebuilders, I’m not sure if I’d have ever thought of him. Looks like he’s got 7 or 8 in-season adds here. Brew, did the Dodgers lose another SP? Tell ,me it’s not Strip.

Marwin is a cousin of the answer. Howie Kendrick as well, who was top-10, but not the answer
-
Marwin? Seems like he’s been around long enough, and is useful but not useful enough to use up a roster spot or get drafted before the season. Totally unrelated, Freeman has covid19, with flu-like symptoms.

I can't answer, since I saw the answer, but my guesses were either a marginal catcher or a marginal reliever. The player would have to have been around most seasons that Ottoneu has played. I was thinking Kurt Suzuki (wrong) or Diego Castillo (wrong).
-
Not a superstar. Hint - utility IF
-
Though it looks like he’s only been auctioned 1x in-season in this league? We might be more sentimental than the average ottoneu-ers.

I like that guess. Seems almost like the Harvey scenario applies every year to Stanton.

Giancarlo?
-
My guess would be a player that was promising enough to get bid up in a preseason auction, but then flamed out or got injured immediately and was reauctioned multiple times in every league. And then did so in more than one season. Matt Harvey?
-
I like those guesses. Mine was a vet RP like Sergio Romo who was always getting saved/holds but never dominant so would’ve been constantly picked up and dropped. Alas, none of our guesses are top-10
