Also , call ups would be fierce bidding
-
Interesting concept there . Seems like you would need to get lucky with cheap contracts that have break out years
-
This is the roster available: https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/1128/team?team=7914 .
It doesnโt have a lot of great contracts, but there are very few of those to be found in this league in its 2nd year and with no cheap prospects to ever be had
-
Yo if anyone has ever wondered how this game would play if you removed prospects from the equation, and only people with mlb appearances were eligible to be rostered, that ottoneu league exists and is short an owner. Lemme know if you want in.

Rotographs is hiring: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/fangraphs-and-rotographs-are-hiring/

Here's your annual reminder to renew your team by this Sunday. My team is only OK going into '21 I just might claim yours if you let it expire.
-
Open slot in my 4 x 4 league if anyone misses roto. League #16.

A++ on the new team name Schmegs
-
White Sox shored up their already deep bullpen
-
Mets are going to be scary. That rotation is nasty. Degrom, thor, cookie, stroman
-
DJL next big item to be resolved now that lindir is off the table
-
Lindor and Carrasco going to Mets, maybe dull simmer will turn into hot stove now
-
Does anyone want to setup a beer trade? I love my NW IPAs but I'm getting bored with more than just my local beer selection this winter.
-
Hotels are getting old
-
I would love to be a gm of a sports team
-
hahaha
-
Is Charles the new GM of the Padres ?
-
D - was kind , especially after what TB got in return for Snell. Top 3 starters for Cubs are now all finesse guys that can't throw 90 mph. 4 scratch lottery tickets and a #4 sp with no upside

Throwback night really should be 12/31. Would make for some good fun
-
Maybe at 1$ , ever buck is precious these days for me .

Not a believer in the Duran swing change Fred?

Iโm looking to trade some combination of Alcantara, Sheffield, Tanaka, and Peralta for a bat, preferably an outfielder, but open to other offers.
-
I did redraft Luis Robert for 3$ in 2019 after throwing him back
-
My bad
-
Youโre mixing up 2 different years there Fred. In 2019, when Harper went for $77, Goldy went for $46โnot a discount at all. In 2020, when Goldy went for $19, Harper was $54.

That year Harper went for 77 and Goldy went for 19
-
That's exactly what happened, Kevin outbid me for Harper and some super high number , and Brent got Goldy at deep discount .
-
Henry, I think the guys who really get driven up in the auction are the high variance types we perceive as having substantial upside. Using Fredโs examples: Harper, but not Goldie. Probably none of us *expect* Harper to have a 9 ppg season, but maybe enough of us think something like that is possible that we bid him up to that level. No one thinks Goldie has that kind of upside, so he doesnโt get bid up beyond his expected value. If Harper gets high enough, maybe Goldie even comes at a discount.

The last few years ,there were a few elites thrown back, like harper , and there was a bidding war. But I recall Brent getting goldschmidt very inexpensively that year as well
-
Henry, I look at it is there is an overall pool of money ,12 x 400. If more expensive players are kept, there is less overall funds to be spent. Its hard to fill out a 40 man roster , so most will strive for several 1 $ and 2 $ bargin bins . In effect , no middle class
-
I guess I'm thinking more in terms of the number of "top" players available in auction. Maybe this is also a reflection of how weird the 2020 season was. But if the number of throwbacks of elite players is lower than usual, my feeling is that the money in auction -- even if overall there is less money -- will be drive up prices of middling players.

I don't understand the economics being discussed here (and i'm not even talking about the hypothetical $60 Springer, which...). We should see inflation in the auction if we keep *cheap* (relative to their value in a fair auction) guys, not expensive ones. Keeping a $200 Trout drives prices down in the auction, while keeping a $20 Trout drives them up.

Like hell my $36 springer is looking damn good. Because if he went to auction he probably goes for $50 or $60.
-
That's why I laughed at Fred's comment of that people that need to cut salary have no leverage. I could have easily kept yelich and my team the way it was. Because i know im not going to get shit at the same value in our auction.
-
With some of us keeping these expensive guys, we're going to have an auction with so much more money than good players that valuations will be crazy. Someone like J.D. Davis will go for $40.

I was hoping to get that Snell. I think Charles got robbed there.

Iโd say Blake Snell made the difference. But what do I know, Iโm just a sucker...
-
yes, P.T. Barnum's famous saying stil rings true; There's a sucker born every minute
-
Well i guess sales are up then.
-
Like a door to door vacuum salesman of yesteryear .
-
So I guess Charles actually did find someone to trade a $46 Yelich to for a $9 Tucker. Guess that $2 really did make a difference.
-
No not really I am still able to make trades.
-
Charles sorely misses his prison bitch trading partner ngb
-
Gotta keep everyone one their toes
-
Honestly, I think you are a pretty fair dealer when it comes down to it, with me anyway at least. You do send over a whopper every now and then though.
-
I mean I ponied up for Bieber and Trout in my opinion. So I have tried to be better in my offers.
-
He might be waiting on that one till after the auction. That way you can include a loan.
-
If you're complaining about Charles's offers, $48 Yellich for $9 Tucker isn't bad for him at all. I'm surprised he didn't offer $18 Starling Marte + $4 Derek Holland for $9 Tucker, $4 Framber, and $7 McCullers

Those not this
