Sonofabitch this is the first I saw of it and hoped that it was a bad joke.
-
Chris Sale breaks himself riding a bike and is out for the year (again).
-
I've been drinking Saisons lately with all this heat and humidity . They are slightly cloudy be design , bottle conditioned so very carbed, tastes a bit like a lambic and a bit like a wheat beer. Refreshing as hell
-
I do like NE Hazy IPAs and double IPAs, but I admit there are a lot of meh ones. A lot of them are overcarbonated. Over the summer I've been trying a lot of the local brands.
-
Wait, what just happened there? 2 random RPs got exchanged, but there was also a veteran masher and $30+ thrown in for some reason. This on top of the recent “just throw in Gerritt Cole” incident, and I’m starting to have substantial trust issues with you all.
-
My own brews are painstakingly cold crashed , gelled , lagered and use plenty of healthy highly flocculent yeast to drop out and fall to the bottom of fermenter after they have consumed their sugar.
-
Sorry Henry , I don't care for NE hazy IPA . As a brewer , I view haze , cloudiness ,visual sediment as a flaw . Unless a Hefe Weiss or some Belgians ,where the yeast is part of the overall beer character .
-
Probably a hipster millennial hang out, but I'd still like to check.it out
-
Yeah, I think I prefer 6 well chosen taps than my choice of 350 different poorly done hazies. (Not too slag off the Raleigh Beer Garden, I bet it's fantastic. But I also bet that at least a third of their taplist is IPAs that are meh at best)
-
It’s pointless.. Nobody needs that degree of choice. My bar has 9 taps and people stand there stupefied by the options.
-
How am I just now finding out there is a place in Raleigh, N.C. with 400 beers on tap?
-
And in other franchise prequel news… House of the Dragon 8/21. Andor 9/21. That trailer looks awesome
-
Just a reminder for all you Tolkein geeks; LOTR series starts Sept. 2 on prime video. Prequel goes back to the 2nd age and the forging of the rings .
-
Another good start from Quintana
-
If anyone looks at Springer as a 2023 keeper, I'd be interested in trading him right now for a healthier player. Springer has 6ppg upside. I'd trade him for a 5.5ppg outfielder who plays every day.
-
Charles, I hope I jinx you. Your pitchers are killing it. Even Cole rights the ship today.
-
Henry was in 1st for about 30 minutes today
-
17 innings and only 46 points from my 3 best SPs tonight. Probably the end of my hopes of hanging in.
-
Wick is now the Cubs closer
-
Crap, lost a Syndergaard start vs lowly Oakland
-
I'm.pleased Degrom doesn't have to face Soto
-
Ahh Hitch, but he’s just now coming around
-
Hosmer might dickblick the trade and Didgers are waiting in the weeds
-
Wow, Kudos to the Padres. Thats a fabulous trade for them. The NL postseason is going to be epic!
-
Soto and Bell to Padres for CJ Abrams, Robert Hassel III, Jarlin Susana, James Wood, and Hosmer for salary purposes
-
Good luck with that, Mikey. I’ve been shopping him in my NL-only and can’t find a taker
-
Quintana is looking good and now a Cardinal where he have the opportunity to pitch in meaningful games. He’s available for almost anyone who’s a next year keeper.
-
Vasquez to Houston
-
Montas a Yankee
-
Padres just got Hader
-
Wow, Joe Ryan. It's pretty tough to go 4.2 inn and still put up -40 points.
-
Max Mayer Tinstaapp
-
Trout has a rare spinal issue called Costovertebral dysfunction that he’s gonna have to deal with the rest of his career. Terrible news
-
Who gets hurt more , Bryant or Stanton ?
-
Thanks Niv! Sure it’s very temporary—only until Schwarber’s HR against Aragon gets counted—but it’s still satisfying to move ahead of a team with a payroll more than $400 more than mine. I have the screenshot.

Damn Schwarber. That HR hurts.

I haven’t tracked the standings this closely since the last day of season 1.

I will not complain about Stanton going to DL , I knew that when I drafted him and hoped for 120 games
-
Universal DH certainly adds a new dynamic this year ,where known oafs like JD Martinez can be traded anywhere and not limited to an AL team only
-
That's not snark. Injuries really change how Ottoneu economics work.
-
It's interesting how injuries can force trades, but also open up trade targets.
-
It supremly frustrating to have laboriously built a squad then gutted it in one year with no certainty of success .
-
Bat , in many ways i was forced to trade due to injuries to key players. It all stareted with Tatis doing his best off season ron gant imitation
-
It's weird getting old. I remember when Scherzer was in his first or second year and everyone was like, that guy's got a violent delivery, he's really high risk.
Or when Cole Hamels was dominating the high minors and Phillies fans were mad that he wasn't getting called up. (In AAA in 2008 he pitched 3 starts and had 36 Ks in 23 innings, gave up 1 walk, and had a 0.07 FIP). In my memory it seemed like the Phillies kept him down most of the season, but he actually got 23 major league
-
I want the real ones, not the Otto Happ and Martin. With Duval gone Braves need an OF (and Mikey says they can’t have Soto).

First step to get Happ and Martin is to negotiate with me and not Fred.
-
Brew, since you’re in a trading mood, let’s make a Cubs-Barves deal happen. What would it take to get Ian Happ and Chris Martin?

It’s only 8 months, but me either. I double-checked in case it was the covid fog. I think maybe all of us with any connection to DC remember when Stras came up…and we don’t want to believe it was that long ago.

I would never have guessed that Strasburg is older than Sale
-
Weirdo seems way too nice a description for whatever the hell Sale is. For aging curves I rely on the shorthand of looking for decline in FB velocity—and I don’t see it for Sale. He hasn’t thrown a lot of FBs in 2021 (93.9 mph) and 2022 (94.9) but they’ve been in line with his career average (94.6). Strasburg, though…. And he’s a little older than Sale.
