I think we'll be fine. In my other leagues with openings have been getting filled (slowly but surely), and this team isn't in any worse shape than any others. Is there a way that we can be more proactive in recruitment? There are at least a couple of recent postings on the Available Owners page...
-
The motion is hereby defeated. Ideas like this should require a universal consensus to pass.
-
Against. We’ve never not had a taker for a team. I just think it’s a lull period during the offseason when people aren’t necessarily thinking about picking up a team.

I stand by what is best for the league. Keep in mind, in the past we survived on 11 managers.
-
Hmm, iono. We need to crowd-source b4 it is put into practice. Feedback is crucial from our esteemed members. What may be beneficial for one team could be detrimental to the league as a whole.
-
Thoughts on adding recents cuts to the vacant Oneonta Yanks roster to maybe help entice a new manager to take over? I’m happy to volunteer some as well if people are okay with it?
-
Baseball sign stealing...how about the biggest cheat of them all: MLB tweaking the balls. Oh the hypocrisy.
-
Judging by my spare cap space: YES
-
New rule: Round of Jager Bombs pre-auction?
-
FYI all - The new and improved BFD has renewed and is officially open for business!
-
Thanks! Happy to be here, looking forward to a great season!
-
Welcome JM! Happy to have you aboard. The only rule we ask of new owners is they renew their squad before making any trades or cuts. This has been a great league. We've had 4 different champs over the past 5 years!
-
Last place <--- definitely no sign stealing here *rolls eyes
-
The lawyers are advising JaBO managers to keep quiet while under investigation for stealing signs. At least that’s my theory anyway.
-
Quiet in here...TOO quiet.
-
Nevermind, I guess make that 2 vacancies: BFD and 1ontoY
-
Reminder: we are still short one manager. Above all else, that's it and JaBO -- don't you ever change. I recall a moment from the past where both Jeets and WC protected JaBO from riff-raff that would cause harm to the league. That's cool in my book because I understand why now.
-
The Plumbers have often grumbled "Are you kidding us??!" during some trade chats. We are 100% sure the same has been said about us. Generally, we forget about it within ten minutes. Hopefully, the feelings over this kerfuffle dissipate and there are no departures because of it.
-
Ha. Thanks fellas. With the dust settling and seeing your comments, I'm ashamed to admit it does seem like a nerdy dude version of a Real Housewives spat. I'm married with two little girls. My fantasy sports life is supposed to serve as an escape from the drama! Can't speak for YJ, but from here it's water under the Leonard Zakim bridge - unlike those shithole NYC bridges (joking)
-
I'm on the same page as the sentiments being expressed today. I enjoy both of you and have felt the frustrations of trading with both of you 😊. I really enjoy being in this league with all of you and hope we can take a breather and find cooler heads allow all parties to remain.
-
Love is not the opposite of Hate, people confuse them as polar opposites, when in actuality they are of the same spectrum. The polar opposite is Apathy. Clearly you guys are not apathetic and CARE a lot about each other.
-
Furthermore, this is OUR OFFSEASON. Suppose to dial it back down, not up! JaBo, a long standing league...years of elite fantasy utopia taken down by the classic folly of human nature in Ottoneu: "antics of trading". Always the gray areas that stir things up. If this was a clear black and white issue, a solution can be found easily. JaBo is much more than that, hurt Pride should not be able to tear down this astounding league.
-
I prefer both teams remain in the league as well. Two active and quality members are hard to come by. Can YJ and Beni view themselves as the Yanks/Sox or Cards/Cubs of this league and build on their rivalry?
-
...But in the end, even though y'all don't see eye to eye here, I'd give you both the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to translation and clarity being lost via text/internet communication. By all means, refuse to trade with each other indefinitely, but I'd like to have you both in this league.
-
While I absolutely see reason for frustration on both sides, I'm with Sho-Time in that the worst-case scenario would be losing league members. What I like most about this league is how seriously everyone takes it, and while I've certainly taken sides in disputes before (as YJ can attest to), I'd hate to see strong opinions outweigh the league's future. I love that trades are not taken lightly by owners in this league; I've had trade negotiations with some of you go on for WEEKS...
-
Small shit to me. What's big shit is the possibility of losing either of you. And over this small shit?? Come on, I'll translate this as...casualty of competition, which is a great thing for a league. In the end, social pain, just social pain. Also, I'm the last guy that should be preaching because I can lose my shits.
-
I disagree that repeatedly rengeging on trades once you see the other party is willing to take your offer is not bad faith dealing, but respect your opinion WAR. If maybe a few of you can nominate your new commissioner I will hand the reigns over and leave the league.

In my option trades are something that it's hard to make up your mind on. Before and after every trade I'm always on the fence if a trade is worth it. I don't think that calling someone out was the right way to go, unless the trade is complete, both parties should still be considering how the trade affects their team. If Jeets leaves I'll be leaving the league with him.

In my view, that is dealing in bad faith. If there is anybody that would rather see me go, please let me know. I've done my best as a commish to keep it as democratic, fair and fun as possible. This is one of the longest standing leagues in Ottoneu. I dont want to ruin it for any of you.
-
I'm happy to share the actual screenshots of the dialogue if it matters to anybody. In a nutshell, what happens is he tells me a specific deal he would do, I accept by sending the offer, once he sees that am willing to do the deal, he rejects it and then doubles the price. He's now pulled this maneuver on me in each of the 3 past years and, yes, I called him out on it.
-
Well, that's um, let's call it one side of the story there YJ. Each of the past couple seasons I've taken the high road on some bad faith moves made by YJ, but not calling it out to the league. He just did the same move again and I called him out on it privately.
-
I have never met any of you, but I have always enjoyed our banter and baseball work. I consider you my friends. I will not continue in a league where our commissioner calls people “beyond sleazy” due to rejected trade offers. I will miss you all and I intend to start a fresh Ottoneu league, to which you will all be invited

Whatever you think of any actions anyone takes to call someone “beyond sleazy” and acting in “bad faith” because they don’t accept your trade offer is wrong and not the basis for running a league of friends

Today, I suggested to our commissioner that I was willing to trade Aquino for Scherzer, when he offered me Scherzer for Aquino plus kiriloff. I declined and countered with an offer of Aquino plus kiriloff for Scherzer and gore. As a result, he said that I was acting in “bad faith” and “beyond sleazy.”

League. I’m an original member and I have loved this league since I have been a part of it. I feel like I’ve come to know and enjoy all of your company, but especially the many shadows, winterfell, and the plumbers (who are possibly mario and Luigi) who have been so long

I forget. Do we have a white Sox fan in the room? I feel like it was the original commish who is now gone, wasn’t it? Dammit, because bahahahahahahaha at the Jose Abreu extension

Just did Arb.
-
Awesome. Thanks for doing that DB&B. BFD has been out of commission since before the AS game. I think that's sufficiently inactive to open the team up. Please feel free to advertise the availability of both Oneonta and BFD.

Sorry, I thought allocations were due middle of December. Mine are done now.
-
Yeah that seems pretty logical to me. Skewed player values from uneven arb allocation is the worst.
-
That would mean each of those teams would have allocated $22. We could either stop there, or we could allocate their full $25, which I would then propose we satisfying by adding 1 additional dollar to each of the top 3 teams on their 3rd most popular target. I think this is most sensible way to do it, so it's just a rote, administrative function rather than someone having to make a judgement call about what is the best use of the funds. Let me know if anyone agrees or disagrees

Thusly, I propose the following if anyone misses their allocations: that we allocate on their behalf in the following manner: $2 allocated to everyone other team. $1 each on the top two players that everyone else has allocated to. That is, right now, Suarez and Franco are the two top targets on my team. Therefore, each of them would be allocated 1 additional dollar. So on and so forth for every other team

League, I'd like to make a proposal on allocations for your consideration. It appears we won't have an owner for Oneonta Yankees before the deadline. It also seem to me it's rather unlikely that DB&D or Big Fly will allocate since they have not logged on since September and July, respectively (Hopefully, I'm wrong about that!). I think it would be lame if we had several teams miss allocations, because allocations help keep rosters fresh.

East coast bias! On a separate note, any help we can get recruiting an owner to take the reins of Oneonta's squad would be welcomed! Would be ideal if we can get somebody in while arbitration is still open.
-
One week to go on allocations. Really gonna need to the commissioner’s tally continue creeping up in the next few days. Don’t let me down, league

Good one commish. In order to remove pressure from the equation, one must substitute pressure with a live cougar! Genius.

Double 20K. Congrats!

Thanks, congrats on the back to back wins beni. Was an interesting year with all of the home run action. They are going to have to change the Fangraphs Points weighting if this keeps up, pitchers don't have a chance.
