Fantastic season. Happy for KC. They play gutty, gritty, small ball, long ball, defense, speed, pitch, AL, NL baseball. Only 5 months til next year. :(

So, how many balls does hosmer have that made him even try for home in the 9th last night? 3? 4? All of them? I think that required all of the balls.

Another year as a top 10 league! Here is the link ranking all the ottoneu leagues. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ebpgvuw-J8rk9JA2gZl7yM6a8NNMEuKgETTukXZtIqs/edit#gid=1534621477

Kind of nostalgic, cheering for the Mets.
-
Oh well. I guess I'll just prepare for the long, dark, cold, depressing winter. But fortunately, it only last six months. Syndergaard throws 100 mph on the black. That's rather impressive.

Good point. Utley is my hero! This Dodgers team was playing with ZERO passion. Utley saved our season. You always hate those dirty phillies, until you have one of your very own. I'm just sorry Tejada's leg was part of the destiny. We have no bridge to kenley, so we'll need Grienke to be efficient and pitch 8 - in a perfect world. Or we'll need some luck.

Ha. Gonna be tempting, but they have no choice but to defer the plunkings until next year, unless it's a blowout, right? Can't risk losing Greinke. Go Utley! Break a leg!
-
Alright, Fun Bags, I think you're the only one with a team still left in the playoffs. How's the confidence level for game 5? Also, shouldn't Don Mattingly start Chase Utley and have him hit leadoff in game 5? Figure that would about guarantee you having a leadoff hitter with a 1.000 obp

Come On You Spurs! One half of 5th Inning is a huge soccer fan. Up every Saturday and Sunday at day break to watch Tottenhan inevitably fail to live up to expectations. It's weird they allowed Rodgers to spend all that money then fire him this early.
-
Thanks FB. Was a nail biter. YJ - I don't watch soccer (except for the WC, which is awesome) , but hope Liverpool keeps sucking. I dont like all these distractions for John Henry! It's interesting how the roster construction strategies work for different sports. In the NBA, stars n' scrubs is the best (e.g. Lebron + 1 or 2 stars is all you need to win), whereas in the NFL youre generally better off with a balanced approach.
-
Awesome season! Idiots 3 points short of 2nd. Nice run! Great finish. Bitter sweet time of year. Playoffs ..... Then ..... A long 5 months :(

Anyone else watch soccer? I feel like Fenway Sports Group has the exact same MO with Liverpool as the Red Sox. Signed nothing but young players who should provide "surplus value" then half of them fell on their face and the other half were good but not elite and the club sucked. Liverpool just fired their manager, though, so maybe they've seen the error of their ways all around.

Don't worry about the contracts. The bad ones can be blamed on Illitch. The two gripes I had with DD were his inability to build a bullpen and the lack of high end talent coming from the farm. Both of those can be fixed with Boston levels of money.
-
Wicked pissah. Way to close out the season. Hoping BoI and the Sox fare better next year. As a Tigers guy, you think the Dombrowski signing was a good thing? I'm on the fence. Hoping he doesn't sell the farm for a bunch of 30-somethings with bloated contracts.
-
2nd place!! And on our last at bat of the year.
-
Thanks, fun bags. I believe rule V, subsection f saying all auctions must be completed "prior to midnight of the last day of games of the season" is the rule you're looking for. So I believe if you drop a player less than 48 hours before the end of the season, you're good. As long as you don care about waiver claims.

Yeah Jeets! I am very impressed with anyone who can win this league. This is a mo fo of a league. I put a ludicrous amount of work into my 7th place finish. Question. If someone puts a bid on a player sunday afternoon before the last game and wont win the bid until monday or tuesday, does it count? I was going to release a few stars to make room for players i pick up on sunday, but don't want them to go for half price.

Well, shit. That better not reverse my prior reverse jinx on the shadows. Unlike WAR children, I'm not a parent, sooo definitely on beer and dates on girls I pick up on tinder. Also, I may spring for the softer toilet paper this month.

YJ - Now that your victory has been conceded, I'll ask you what I asked WAR when he won last year. How do you plan to spend your winnings? WAR's answer last year was he was going to buy his baby some diapers! =p
-
We have basically conceded the title, didn't have the bats to pull it out.
-
Hey, on the bright side, you beat Marlins by 5,000+ points!
-
Fun? eh. Next season will be fun.
-
Fun season guys. YJ looking strong. 2 titles in 3 years? All eyes on 5IS tonight though. BTW- I think it would be fun to see all-time league and Ottoneu records for each category. I bet WAR is bumping up on all-time status for triples in a season.

I'm ALWAYS fearing the Giants. Plus, the dodgers just aren't that good. I don't see us going far in the playoffs unless kershaw and Grienke carry us on their shoulders. We don't play fundamental baseball. Bad defense, bad baserunning, and a bad bullpen. That's not a good post season recipe. Blah blah

Yes. A fantastic trade indeed. We just added 4 pitchers onto our major-league roster, A really good prospect, and didn't have to give up any of our three blue-chip prospects. I realize we are probably paying all of Oliveira's contract, but I'm still puzzled as to how we pulled that off. And why the Braves did it. as a Yankee fan, I am imagining you might be a little concerned about Toronto now?
-
We are just thankful that 5th Inning Shadow isn't in need of the same "reboot" as our Tigers.

Astros get C.Gomez *cough cough Brett Philips all you haters of that last trade

What a freaking interesting trade deadline. Good job by Fun Bags' Dodgers, I think. Must be nice to have unlimited money (says Yankees fan). Old man Steinbrenner would not be happy with his kids getting their lunch money taken by the Brooklyn team, I think.
