It has to be said: Checkler did an amazing job over the past month. I was slightly behind in the standings but a month ago I had way more innings left and even had a couple dozen extra games remaining. I thought I had this thing in the bag, but he made so many smart decisions while I sort of muddled through, and it really could have gone either way at the end. Plus, all these loans I took out and the young, cheap studs I traded away to keep up with him mean I'm screwed for next season.
-
Craziest season ever! Actually affected by the death of a player. Congratulations Erik. But I ain't goin' nowhere.
-
One game still being played but I don't think it's going to matter. If the standings are correct, Erik has won in an absolute squeaker. Congrats Mr. Holm. The Koos finish 7th, which is nothing to crow about but probably higher than they deserve.
-
Separated by 0.3 with no game having more than two innings left.
-
Looks like the championship is actually going to come down to the last few swings... good luck to the Lamborghinis and Clarksvilles!
-
Yeah, there's a pretty decent race for the championship, but how about the competition for all-important sixth place? And tenth place? That's where the real drama is.

When *i posted

Unrelated, I was drunk when Inposted my thing about Fernandez. I love him but that strategy might be dumb. I'm the worst.
-
It ain't about Big Papi per se, but about the fans. Yankee fans are crass, obnoxious, boorish, loud, smelly and arrogant, but they also know the game.
-
Never as part of official testing. Allegedly as part of an anonymous survey conducted by MLB. Also, as Jim Rice learned, it certainly pays to be a nice guy to the public/media.
-
Ortiz tested positive for PEDs...everyone else got shamed except Big Papi

Big Papi got a standing O at Yankee Stadium last night. That's the kind of stuff that makes me love this game.

Announcement: It's a detriment to my team, and I'm still going after a title this year, but I wanted to announce that I will be keeping Jose Fernandez on my roster through the end of the 2017 season as an homage to one of my favorite players to have ever taken the field. I don't expect any of you to add to his salary, you're all good people, but I just wanted to announce that. Baseball isn't as important as other things, sometimes.
-
This is so terrible.

I keep waiting for this Fernandez need to be someone's sick joke or mistake. I can't remember the last time a star player in any sport died in his prime. God damnit. I'm literally sick to my stomach.
-
I'm rooting for Tony Womack's Purple Lamborghini to pull it out!
-
Two weeks left in the season, and the race for third place (and the $100 prize) is a total toss-up. Meanwhile, my team continues to crap all over itself as my innings advantage over Checkler erodes. Good times!
-
Sky's the limit on Tebow. He should go for at least $85.
-
In the (probable) words of the dormant Twitter feed dedicated to the late Tommy Hanson, @CyborgHanson48, "HUMAN BATSMEN FACING HUMAN THROWPITCHER ZIMMERMAN JORDAN USED TO FALL VICTIM TO MULTIPLE WHIFFSWINGS BUT NOW PARTAKE IN POPULAR EVENT 'HRDERBY.'
-
I think he'll be OK next year
-
Yes, I showed rare good judgement in cutting Mr. Zimmerman, whose last two starts have lasted for a total of 2.2 innings and have included 5 homers, 5 walks, 10 hits and 12 runs. On the plus side, only one hit batsman!

At least you didn't start Zimmermann on Sat

Yes, that typically happens to the Koos on Mondays and other days ending in 'y'.

I'm going to start Samardijza today. He'll give up 4 homers. It's when I don't start him that he pitches a gem.
