I booted both of these owners this morning when I saw they hadn't made their cuts. They hadn't paid their dues (due yesterday) and had no activity in weeks, including unread messages and outstanding trade offers. I emailed them personally a few days ago to remind them of the deadline and to ask if they were still with us. No responses. We want good, active owners in this league. It sucks when we have deadbeats. We'll get new owners and they will be allowed to make one round of penalty-free cuts.

I am open to adding a high priced player or two if anyone wants to shoot me an offer before the cut deadline tonight. I may be willing to deal you a useful player for a guy you are planning to cut. Send offers.

Keeper deadline is midnight tonight (Eastern)! All cuts made after today are subject to the cap hit outlined in the rules. I hope to see a trade or two before the day is done, especially if they have my name on them (I do have a couple offers still out there!). Happy Cut Day!

Just so everyone is aware, the keeper deadline is THIS SUNDAY, JANUARY 31 at 11:59 EST. For new people, what that means is that any player you cut after that time will entail a cap penalty for the 2021 season of 50% of their salary (unless they get reauctioned later, then the penalty would be dropped). On other words, you get penalty-free cuts until the deadline. Also, everyone please make sure your dues are paid by that same deadline. Six teams still need to pay! Good luck to all.

dunno about the yelich thing. i think they were just trying to make him too expensive, which he was for what he did in 2020. coulda been an outlier, but at $43, i wasnt wanting to take that chance

Welcome to the new owner of Jib! Hitting the ground running, I see! Don't get too carried away - I bet someone would have traded something of value to you for a $43 Yelich, evident by the fact that someone gave him money in arbitration, indicating that he's worth more than that.

Fantastic. Salaries have been updated accordingly. Owners may want to verify that I did it correctly. You can go to a player's page, scroll about 2/3 down and see the their transaction history, which should show today's salary change and should match what was posted.

I think it's unanimous - we'll go with the proxy idea as I outlined in my 1:30p post on 11/24: Taco gets $25 to allocate on behalf of ATL towards the 10 other teams (i.e. does not allocate any $ to Taco or ATL). O'Clyde proxies for Highlanders and Columbus for Ringz in the same way. Total of $25 to 10 teams, with no more than $3 per team and no less than $1 per team. Post your allocations here by Friday 11:59 pm Eastern and I will manually update the salaries.

I would be ok with that if people think it'll increase offseason activity. Agree that they shouldn't allocate to their own team. As there was a clear break in the standings beginning with Columbus, I'd say for simplicity AND parity could just exempt the proxying teams from the additional arb. Gives each of the proxy teams a $1-3 boost. Example: Taco gets $25 to allocate on behalf of ATL towards the 10 other teams (still max of $3/team). O'Clyde proxies for Highlanders and Columbus for Ringz.

I agree arb helps with parity. I like your proxy idea. Let the bottom 3 teams assign so we can move on. They shouldn’t assign to there own teams though. Commish can assign a $1 to them and they handle the rest. Seems pretty easy

Or we can just let the bottom remaining teams act as arb proxies. As in, let Taco, O'Clyde and Columbus make the allocations for Ringz, ATL and Highlanders. Or we could just say no arb for those teams, but I think they're a must, for parity. I've always preferred letting the new owners do it as a way to immediately put their own mark on their team. It's also the easiest. But I'm open to ideas.

Good question on arb. The plan has always been to let new owners make arb. Because, as I agree that it makes any particular player's salary still up in the air, your point is correct that it just means fewer dollars to another player on your team. Since your team will almost always get hit with $3 per allocating team, it seems like pretty much a wash overall. Another option is for current owners to vote to allocate, but you have to figure out ties.

It is a valid point; the number of inactive teams complicates the trade market and ultimately probably delays me making roster decisions until we have more of the league engaged.

Hit send too quick on that one. Had Shane on the brain after taco mentioned him. It doesn’t really matter. If arb dollars go on one guy I traded for, it just keeps them off another guy that would have got them pretty much. Apologies if I offended taco

Zee- are we going to let new owners do arb again as I've seen in the past. Tough to consider trades when a $26 Bieber could be a $35 Beiber for example.

Having been in this league for 10 years, I can say that yes, this turnover is higher than normal. I typically expect to lose 2-3 per year. I'm inclined to chalk it up in large part due to Covid - a short season, uncertainty, broad decline in interest in sports, etc. I know that I was less active this year than ever before, but have resolved to change that. I agree that we should all recruit new owners! Try to entice good, competitive owners from other leagues, friends, etc.

Maybe we are too quiet. My other league message board turned into twitter level animosity and only one guy quit us. Hope we get some players.

Quick update on ownership status. The Highlanders did not make arb allocations and hadn't logged in since mid-September, so they're marked as abandoned. The Blubes decided to bow out of the league but did make allocations prior to leaving. This leaves us with 5 teams needing new owners, which is higher than usual. I will work to get new owners, but if you have anyone that you think would be a good fit, let me know! The good news is that we continue to have a solid core group of active owners.

Just to be clear, the deadline is effective at the end of the day tomorrow (11:59 Eastern). And also remember that you can make allocations and adjust them any time before the deadline. So, it's always in your interest to make them early so they're done, given that you can change them later if desired.

The arb deadline is TOMORROW. As arbitration is integaral to the format and essential to league parity and competitiveness, ALL allocations must be done by then or your team will be marked as abandoned! As has been customary in the past, new owners for abandoned teams that did not make allocations will be allowed to make them once they assume control of the team. If anyone, particularly first-year owners, has any questions about arbitration, please contact me or post here. Happy allocating!

Hey all. I apologize for not being as active this offseason on deadlines, reminders, etc. and will do better. As of now, we will have three teams that need new owners - da Ringz, ATL and RVA. The first two were abandoned and marked as such once the season ended. RVA indicated to me a few weeks ago that he would not return, though he said he WOULD make arb allocations before dropping; I hope he follows through. Other than that, all other teams have logged in this offseason, most in the last week.
