Don't worry, Danny, I don't have need of encouragement regardless. You should know better than that, Mateo...

I do. I do. I relapsed.

I need to frame this post SMGS!

If 24 is the Highest Number but 42 is the answer to the Question of Life, The Universe, and Everything, it's no wonder that it took so long for Jackie Robinson to break into MLB and Royce Lewis is now a $15 minor leaguer...

I knew someone would know it. And yeah hmm... Royce only has a couple dollars on young Adley here, not sure if anyone has been priced higher while playing miLB. Assuming rehab stints don't count.

The bidding for Lewis was exciting. And I'm pretty sure we'll get to do it again next spring when he is inevitably cut. See: Toro, Abraham.

quick quiz for our League Historian (also our Commissioner): who is the most expensive minor leaguer in Imaginary Hammers history? And does his name rhyme with Choice Blew This?

24 is the highest number

The legendary maths of early baseball are indeed generally not to be trusted as factual; proto-stat geeks Chadwick (inventor of the box score) and Borges (master of alternative statistical history) disagree about the Minotaur's self-reported 'records', in part because Borges believed the Minotaur understood '14' to mean 'infinite'.

*only* 10 bid! ...where were the 69ers & 34ers for a 12 of 12 'family pot'?
-
Who is this “some” character? And can we really trust their arithmatic prowess?
-
Some say the Minotaur ate Meriwether Lewis along with 13 other prospects in Cooperstown during the 1840's.

If an unknown prospect named Roger *Samuel* Clemens comes up for auction I will most certainly outbid all ya'all.
-
Well I thought I was bidding on Mark "Twain" Lewis but I'm not judging if no one remembers him and his former prospect gravitas.
-
Wow, don't think I've ever seen an in-season auction that had 10 teams bidding. If the intent was to hide young Royce Merriweather Lewis among a bunch of other auctions, it didn't work.
-
Young Mr. Merriweather Lewis. Maybe.
-
I jumped from just over three times fourteen feet into the Merrimack as a young swain and nearly - wait...what were we talking about again?
-
Units please? I haven't read the story of The Minotaur and The Merrimack since junior high.
-
If 14 was enough for The Minotaur (a real beast), then it should darn well be enough for the young Mr. Lewis...

Thanks for the explanation. And congratulations Cutch on Royce. I really thought 14 was high enough.

As the Saint said

I agree, Baddoo, but the trade setting of 24 hrs is one of the league options in Ottoneu while it isn't for auctions.

I would like to propose, since last year trades process in 24 hours instead of 48, that going forward all transactions, auctions included process in 24 hours. If you bother to play fantasy baseball you can be bothered to log in for five minutes a day and make roster decisions. In a reasonable world.

ok, fair point @rime

He is however now 2nd all time in HRs by someone who pitched.

Albert Pujols has career 36.00 era and I’m supposed to believe that this is is a first ballot hall of famer?
-
…thinking about bidding at least $15 on everyone… IDK

This auction list... bruh

Thanks, gang!

How many vetos are needed to overturn it? I also added mine.
-
did a veto - thought the message and the action conflicted in the deal!
-
Ok, Commish. Given Mateo's clearly noted rejection of the deal in the trade comments, I'll do my part for repair.

And if we don't get it in time... I guess they can trade back, or I can make the roster move?
-
Oh, hmm, I guess I thought by me vetoing it, it would cancel, but it didn't! We're a democracy, not a dictatorship?? News to me. Yeah, if several people can go veto, it should take care of it and avoid further action needs.
-
observation: J. Peña and G. Springer have identical stats as of 5/15!
-
Thanks, Rime, and bonus points to The Saint for remembering The Source.
-
Commish, are you asking us all to also reject the trade so that the trade ends up being vetoed by the league?

Inkosi sent me a message that he fat-fingered a trade acceptance that was supposed to be a rejection. Accordingly I vetoed that Rizzo deal.

In all likelihood I’m the Donny in this crew. The film, music references, and shrewd trade proposals come fast and swirl about me. In the words of Walter Sobchak “Donny, you’re out of your element!”

Sorry I've been corrected, Risky Business is who I meant to throw shade on. My apologies Horns. Until next time.
-
Yeah. Horns is our new Larry. I took him for a sixth grader with spelling issues based on some of his early transactions but it's clear he is a Lebowski Little Achiever.
