Hello all, sorry to just claim a team without reaching out but I saw the post on slack that owners were needed and I couldn't let the Peace Frog sit any longer. I/ we (team will be co-owned by Jack and Luke hence JUKE) are in 2 other ottoneu leagues so we have some experience. If we are able to own Peace Frog, we look forward to this team and for anyone that likes to trade, lets get em goin !

If anybody is up for adding near-ready, high-end prospects, I am shopping Adley Rutschman, Joey Bart, Julio Rodriguez and others. Looking for 2021 value, especially OF, 1B or RP.
-
I’ll keep trying to find new owners. I have never used “Slack” (not even sure what it is), but If anybody else knows how to use Slack (or some other option) to find new owners, please see if you can help us find new owners for the vacant teams.

Now that the Hot Stove League is here (finally), I’m looking to trade prospects like Julio Rodriguez, Adley Rutschman, Joey Bart... for 2021 help. Rebuilding is fun, but I have been doing it too long.

We need new owners for the Spiders, Sliders, and Frogs. Does anybody know good owners in other leagues who want another team? Or friends who want to give Ottoneu a shot?
-
Everybody on my trade block is available.
-
I’m looking to trade top prospects Joey Bart and Julio Rodriguez if I can acquire help for 2021. Let me know if you are open to working out deals.
-
My God, I hope quarantines are over by then.
-
Works for me! We will all be quarantined anyways, won't have anything else to do.

I set the draft date to Feb 14th - a week after the Super Bowl. But I can change it if needed.
-
The trade waiting period is set to 24 hours.
-
Haha well they can still go change their arbitration on it at least, but yeah definitely seems like a waste.
-
Some brainiac is going to make a $76 Trout a $79 Trout while Tim Anderson stays at $6. Smart. Sorry. I don't have much else going on right now if you can't tell.
-
Who put $3 on Mike Trout? He is going to be cut anyway. What a waste.
-
Gotcha. Just trying to look for ways to increase interest in the league after we lost 4 teams this year.

I think it is best to keep the annual fee low. I have seen in other dynasty formats leagues destroyed when there was a large amount at stake. There will be several teams go all out to win in year one. At the end of the year their team will be in bad shape and decide to leave. The following year it will be very difficult to find another owner to take his place.

I'd like to stay at $20 because my team isnt looking like it has a great chance next yr. If you start a new league where everyone has a clean slate it is fair. But there are teams that look like clear favorites now. I just think I'd be giving money away. If its $20 its easier to justify for me.
-
Any interest in going from the $20 tier to $50?

Arbitration starts Thursday.
-
I hope everybody returns next year. If you know you won’t be returning, would you let me know so we can find new owners before arbitration closes?
-
Sounds good. Appreciate the dialogue, Spa.

But I don’t see any real harm in letting everything stand. My guess is all of the late pick ups will be off season cuts anyway. And nobody went crazy - it’s not like we have teams with 60+ players (which I have seen in other leagues).
-
Just knowing those options are out there will probably prevent anybody from going overboard with dozens of last day auctions.
-
If it happens next year, somebody could bid $10 on each player to make sure the team that started the bids won’t get them. Then cut them all in November.
-
In another league where a guy added 25-30 last minute players, I posted a message saying I was bidding $2 on each of them. The guy had to bid $3, and how has them all at $4, which is well above their value.
-
I think it works itself out. If somebody really pushes it (like adding 20 prospects on the last day of the season), the rest of us can use arbitration as an informal punishment, and we can hold it against them in trade talks.
-
I know it isn't what you were talking about, but I am saying I don't think it is much different. I don't think anything is unfair here. Anyone else who was interested in those players could have bid on them if they wanted, and carrying over 40 players right now doesn't really give anyone much of an advantage other than maybe a couple extra nobodies to add to trades.
-
c'mon now. You know darn well that is not what I am talking about.

Yeah but Maui based off that logic my roster is also illegal. Loans also go away at the end of the season so currently I am $145 over the salary cap so that would mean even though it is the offseason I would need to cut $145 worth of players in 48 hours or else I would get penalized?
-
OK thanks. For my own clarity, you are saying that it is OK to have an illegal roster as long as you are fine with the punishment of not being able to adjust your roster while illegal, correct? No other enforcement to get legal will be made, correct? I've been playing this game since 2012, and every one of my leagues has an understanding that you are to be legal within 48 hours (preferably sooner) and not take an illegal roster into the offseason. This is why this concept is foreign to me.

Gzelwin - Welcome to the League 26!!! Thanks for taking over the former Mighty Nimrods.
-
I don’t see the problem. A few teams wound up with illegal rosters for a few hours on the last day of the season. As commissioner I asked for votes to help decide whether something should be done. I only got 1 vote to take any action. I don’t mean to be a jerk - I just don’t see that there is a problem that needs to be solved.
-
Nah - I'm saying that when you win an auction you have to make a corresponding cut. These auctions strategically were started so they would expire in the last few hours of the season & apparently with the intention to "willingly" go over the roster limit & then just go "*shrug* sorry the season is over and I can't do anything to get legal." I've been playing this game a long time as well in many leagues. In each league when this happens the commish makes cuts

But how do you know if/when you go over the roster limits? Are you saying if you have to cut players before you bid if you already have 40 players on your active roster? By the way, I've been in four leagues for seven years and this has never been an issue.

I'm not suggesting a new rule but calling for this an existing rule to have some enforcement. However, it sounds like you guys are in favor of willingly going over roster limits, which is a stance different from every one of my other leagues. That's fine. I just wish I knew when all these auctions were active.
c. At no time shall a team willingly go over roster and salary cap limits. If a team knowingly does this, they will face penalties at the discretion of their league's commissioner

I would like to welcome Gzelwin to the league, he took over the Nimrods. He has been in Ottoneu before. One caveat, he works in the same office as I, so I encourage more scrutiny in voting trades between he and I.

sorry it's not a baseball comment. But its nuts watching football games in the new stadiums in Minnesota, LA, Vegas, NY. They have stadiums that must cost billions. Where is that money coming from?
-
You guys notice how many NFL teams built multi billion dollar stadiums recently? And now they can't sell tickets. That's fucked up. But if taxpayers paid for the stadiums then I guess it's okay. Nobody cares if taxpayers lose money.
-
Cubs arent feeble. They won it all recently and made the playoffs. Its a crazy year and Marlins won a best of 3 series. You want feeble look at the mets! Thats feeble.
-
I vote for 24 hour trades and I am against changing the roster rules. A bit late, go Marlins, Padres, A’s, Rays. Oh and you all can give me crap about my Twins and Cubs for being feeble and pathetic.

My roster is legal. I am the only one who is legal. Every other team in the league has an illegal roster. It doesn't bother me at all. It always works out fine. This should be fun, debating a rule change is a downer.
-
Maui - if I am missing something, please let me know. I am not trying to be ignorant. But I don’t see any rule allowing a commissioner to force cuts on rosters that became illegal on the last day of the season. We don’t do that in-season. The penalty for an illegal roster is your roster freezes until you make cuts. That is the only penalty I see. And as I see it, that penalty was imposed. Once the season ended, rosters all froze.
-
Teams can carry illegal rosters as long as they want in-season... the only penalty is their rosters are locked until they make cuts to fix their roster. No rule requires any other penalty for an illegal roster. Once the season ends, the roster limits don’t apply. It sounds like you are advocating a new rule to force cuts on rosters that were illegal at midnight on the final game day.
-
Not that any of this really matters, but what do you folks mean when you say you don't want to change the roster rules at the end of the season? Allowing an illegal roster into the offseason would be a change of the roster rules. Are you saying that it's the end of the season, so we don't have to follow the rules? That would be a change in the rules. The league is still 1/3 empty of managers, so this could all be moot anyway.
