Congrats to TTSGB, House and CCH and their battle right down to the last day. We had a very competitive league, 11 teams amassed more than 15,500 points. Kudos to all. We will miss you House, good luck to you!

Great job Hitch, you have been very fun to compete against the last few years.

Thanks, Hitch. It was a great three-way race right to the last day. Sorry to see you go.

Congrats to Lagamer on catching me from behind on game 162 and preventing the 3-peat. Perfect symmetry from last year when I stole it from his predecessor. It's been 3 straight years, maybe 4, of fun, close finishes, but I'm gonna have to let this league go, along with many others. Ottoneu is so much fun, but 10 teams is a job, and I'm cutting out all the non-cash-prize leagues. Thanks for having me and good luck to you all.

The season is winding down, so I just want to remind everyone that the Annual Draft day is the second Saturday in February. The date is February 8, 2020. Mark your calendar. I will enter date on the league page as soon as it allows.

Lesson number one: "don't think, it can only hurt the ball-club".

Sat Berrios last night and started Ivan Nova, cause matchups, costing me 50 points. Classic case of overthinking which could end up costing me big-time

If anyone wants to trade an expensive pitcher you might not keep for Kieboom, you can be assured said pitcher will soon be on the 60-day DL, like every other pitcher I’ve traded for this year

Infielders of all sorts available. 1B, SS, 3B in high supply, both cheap keepers and veteran studs. Looking for SP innings in return.

Uh oh, looks like somebody just Fkd with the Jesus Aguilar.

Rich Hill owners in all leagues should expect less than 100 innings every year

I missed this conversation the other day. The loans are a feature of Ottoneu. A $55 loan isn't at all unusual (although Giolito for Bogaerts AND Harper certainly is), and teams making multiple trades and ending up with $600+ in payroll is how most leagues are decided. The teams that get there are to some degree mortgaging their future for a title. That's just the way the standard setup works. There are, however, ottoneu leagues out there that cap salary or even prohibit loans.

I agree with X
-
I may be off base here as I don't have any of the prior year history and am happy to be told to go back in my newbie box, but to me this seems to indicate the league economy is working quite well.
-
As a new Ottoneu player this year I'm finding the loan system an interesting one. The way I see it, cap space is just as much of a commodity as players and the way the system is set up, can be used to tip a trade over the edge, with the obvious caveat that it shouldn't be unfair. If you take a look at the top four in our league you have a perfect example of vastly different roster construction methods all being effective so far, but only some are sustainable long term.
-
Let's just agree to disagree, you don't see my point and I think your logic is flawed. I seem to be the only one that has a problem with it so I will play by these rules.

One more example: let's say I have a $90 Trout and you have a $30 Yelich. Yelich goes down with a season-ending injury and you need to acquire someone to try to win this year. I trade you Trout with a $60 loan for Yelich (I assume everyone would agree this is a fair trade). Now, assume that Trout is $120 and the loan is $90. Does it make the deal any less fair because the loan is so much larger? I would argue no, and that the size of the loan simply reflects how much I overpaid for Trout.
-
I know it looks like I am talking my book, but think about this near-real life experience: I have a $6 Giolito and a $23 Nola. I am going to trade one of them for a $66 Harper. I think we can agree that my team is better with Giolito and Harper than Nola and Harper. But, if I trade Nola the loan is only $43 and if I trade Giolito it is $60. So, I have a better team with a smaller loan and a worse team with a bigger loan. Because the size of the loan doesn't matter, what matters is the players.
-
Says the guy with $108 in incoming loans and $508 of cap. LOL. Listen, I get it to a degree but the whole loan thing is out of control. How else can someone build a team that enables them to afford Trout ($73), Harper ($66), Altuve ($35), Bregman ($27), Bogaerts ($28), Sale ($47), Sherzer ($38) & Nola ($23). I could almost accept it if the league voted on these trades but 98% of the time only 2-3 of the 12 members in this league votes. I'm just looking for some semblance of parity.

Guys, the size of the loan is really irrelevant if it just balances salaries. It reflects historical prices that might be totally off based on current performance. The issue (if there is one) with the trade in this case is that the loan is much larger than necessary to balance the salaries. So, the trade is not Hicks/Richards for Kershaw/Canning, but Hicks/Richards for Kershaw/Canning and $17 in cap space, which is a very valuable commodity.

I thought it was insane back then...I might have to become a bannermen for House Lanister....
