I’m starting next years rebuild in may of this year. Let’s see how this goes lol
-
Look, if you had one shot or one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted in one moment
Would you capture it, or just let it slip? Yo
-
Yeah that Soto-Castillo trade is a blockbuster! Congrats to both sides for finding something that works.
-
There's some wild sh!t going on in the trade world and I AM HERE FOR IT. Great job, yall!
-
I’m out here just glad I have an eligible team. I’ll figure things out as I go this year.

I think we should swap all the rate categories, because apparently my guys spent all winter learning HOW to give up home runs and walks, but not how to give them up TO any of my hitters.
-
I love every response on this topic 😂 I’ll still take 4x4 over traditional 5x5 any day. Saves are for the birds!
-
The irony is that we've heard for the 8th, 9th, 10th and 12th (me!) place teams in HR/9. The smart guys are holding it tight!
-
You kids today and your new-fangled OPS'es and whatchamahoozits. I only pay attention wins and how many towns were on your offseason barnstorming tour. If you don't get 400 innings and at least 30 wins, keep your day job as an alfalfa farmer.
-
To counter these educated responses I just ignore it lol

That sounds like a good approach, BB. For me, I usually just look for career trends since it’s fairly easy to spot the guys who consistently give up bombs.
Relievers are anyone’s guess. Velocity usually helps, but even that can’t be relied on since everyone throws hard nowadays.
-
I rarely look at a pitcher's HR/9. Instead, I try to avoid SPs who are flyball pitchers. You can look at launch angle, GB%, and Hard% for SP and these are fairly consistent season-to-season. If you target lower LA, lower Hard% and higher GB SPs, I figure it will even out over a season to lower HR/9. I pay less attention to it for RPs, since the best K relievers are often flyball pitchers, and they may not pitch enough innings for HR/9 to even out...it often comes down to luck with RPs.
-
For the life of me, I don’t understand HR/9. It feels so inconsistent from year to year - even with the same pitcher! How do you guys approach this category? Maybe I’m just overreacting to small sample size from 2023…
-
If anyone is interested Bregman let me know. Trying to rid myself of all Astros players

By disappointing pitcher, do you mean HR/9 = 10, ERA = 24.3 and Whip = 3, 3.1 IP with 0 Ks? Offer away! I'll even through in his year-to-date stats. :)
-
I’m always open to making trades too.

Always down for trade talk!
-
Anyone interested in talking trades tonight? I'm willing to dip into my farm system to shore up my rotation and middle infield. Also, looking to swap disappointing pitcher for disappointing pitcher! lol
-
I'm currently in first place and wanted to see if it would be cool if we end the season right now. K thanks.
-
thank you and good luck!

Well said, Crimson. Good luck, everyone!

Just wanted to wish everyone's teams good luck at the start of the year! (Both real and fantasy) I'm so glad baseball is back!

I wasn't sure if I would still get my first round of cuts after the draft, but considering there weren't any egregious cuts that needed to be made, I thought I would risk losing a free round of cuts to hopefully use it on something that would be much more helpful. however, as great as it is that i didn't get a penalty, I'd still rather have a healthy Rhys Hoskins.

Thanks for clarifying (I’m going to assume he’s a genius)
-
So yeah it's option 2. Swan waited until post draft to make his initial round of cuts. He's either a genius or just really lucky.

Crimson, Hoskins is not on waivers and does not count against Swan's cap, but he can be nominated. Hoskins was cut in my other league and does count against the owner's cap. One explanation is that Swan inherited Murdery Hornets team and did not make cuts (Hornets already made them). Then, Swan was given a round of free cuts (which you always get when you take over a team) on the Hoskins and White cuts, as neither appears waivers or counts against the cap. Either that, or it is a glitch.
-
Is Rhys Hoskins on waivers? He's not showing up for me.
-
@ATG, correct. Auction is open to anyone.
-
So the players on the current auction list are for anyone to bid on correct? Just want to make sure Raleigh got who he needs before bidding

I wonder who just nominated Christian Vazquez, lol...Great draft, everyone. Thanks to commish. Looking forward to a great season!
-
We're done! Thanks to smg for making that work. Let's do this thing! (Also I totally forgot to draft a second catcher, even when I had the whole damn room to myself LOLOLOL)
-
Right now, the draft is "paused". Commish needs to unpause it and you can start bidding on players. After that, the draft needs to be closed, so that blind bidding can begin. The "pause" function is designed so that it allows a 15 minute break during a draft or so that a long draft, like a first year draft, can occur over 2-3 evenings, days apart. I'd reach out to smg and coordinate a time for you to fill your roster. Good Luck!
-
I tried popping in there, but it says the room is "not active." If it could be opened even just for a few minutes, I've got a list of guys queued up to nominate and I can zip through them quickly.
-
Agreed on giving Raleigh time to pick at the draft scraps. That's a fair move. I see the draft is still "in progress", that means the shop is open for them now? And when would the draft "close" so we can start trading already! :) Good luck, Raleigh!
-
I'd appreciate that quite a bit! By the time I got back Sunday night it was too late to jump in.
-
I support Crimson’s idea. It probably won’t make much difference vs Raleigh filling his team through blind auctions, though, since he has $180 to spend and most players can be won for a few bucks. Letting Raleigh into the room seems more sporting, especially in a play-for-pride league.
-
Absolutely. That’s my bad I forgot he didn’t get to draft. Disregard

I think leaving the auction room open for Raleigh to pick up some players before we get into blind auctions is fair compromise since we went ahead and drafted without him.
-
Well TBH I tried that but Im marked as done so it wont let me.

Or just leave the draft room open but let me just quietly grab a bunch of guys for a dollar? Thanks. LOLOL

Commish when you get a chance can you close the draft so we can start FA auctions?

I think it's immediately after the draft, but I haven't actually tested it because I usually go straight to bed. Either way, the morning of the 20th you will be able to cut players and start new auctions as you see fit.

Thanks for confirming that for me, BB!
-
Crimson, Rule VIII a. specifies no cuts between keeper deadline and draft. After the draft, you are free to cut. I do not recall if this happens immediately after the draft or the next day, but it is soon after.
-
Looking forward to the draft! Hey so there were two players I'd like to cut on my roster now. When is the earlier possible time I can cut them? It's after the draft, right?
-
So 9 on Sunday March 19th it is.
