Was at Cubs game last weekend - after Addison Russel hit a long ball it was about 60/40 in support of me when I yelled that he hit the ball as hard as he hit his wife.

Indeed. Schiraldi started the whole mess that Stanley “finished”
-
Here here for Bill Buckner - a great player. And don’t forget Calvin Schiraldi’s role in Game 6. As an aside, I was going to call my team Calvin Schiraldi and Roy Hobbs (the only baseball Calvin I could think of) but figured that would bring up some bad memories.
-
So right, both of you! Buck was such a talented and gritty player. Always left his heart and soul on the field, despite the ravaging knee injuries, and was from a bygone era when bat to ball skills were valued. And yes, Stanley had already blown the save (from a position of a 2 run lead, 2 outs and no one on base) via the 3 consecutive hits and the WP. Loved watching him play those years with the Cubs.
-
Yes! I lived out in Boston during the mid-80s and what those "fans" did to him was unforgivable. What they all forget, is the Mets had already tied the game at that point on Stanley's WP. Yes, I'll remember his years with LA/CHC for the hitter he was. 22 years!

Can we pause for a moment and appreciate Bill Buckner? Over 10,000 plate appearances, with 453 career Ks and 450 BBs. Talk about controlling the strike zone. Suffered a serious knee injury early in his career, otherwise his 2,715 hits could well have touched 3,000. I'll always have a fondness in my heart for him on the terrible late-1970s early 1980s Cubs.

How about this for a cheap save last night: Chanhassen's other son, Brad Hand, gets a save when his team scores 14 runs and is leading by 5 when he enters the game.

Yes. You are correct in noting that Cingrani was my guy at one time.

It would be more fun if they were on the same real team and the manager sat his brother to give him his first start

ok here's a weird dilemma: Kevin Cron is expected to be called up today and probably start tonight. In order for me to start him, I would need to sit his brother. Not going to happen, kid.

Really makes player evaluation hard. Hitters all of a sudden “develop” power and pitchers suddenly can’t keep the ball in the park. If MLB keeps the balls the same, I guess everyone has to change their approach to consider it, but I’m an old grump who doesn’t like endless HRs.
-
“Add a low-drag baseball to the high altitude PCL parks and fun ensues” should have been the headline

Short article on MiLB baseballs: https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2019/05/06/baseball-minor-league-home-runs-triple-a/1118862001/

I've heard it mentioned a few times that AAA for the first time is using the same baseball as MLB. And their homeruns are up exponentially, as a result. Probably the same reason MLB homeruns are jacked up, so to speak.

They scored 25 runs in that game and Yasmany Tomas had 4 HRs in it. MiLB ball is really juiced

I could change my team name to the Cron Brothers. Maybe they’ll make a movie about them. Kevin hit two more last night in AAA and now has 21 and 42 games.

Interesting to look at the individual player and pitcher point total leaders. Hitters: Bellinger far and away leads everyone with 490 points already! Yelich and Springer are the only others over 400. Players over 300 (which is the top 25 overall) include Eddie Escobar, Alex Gordon $2 and Wilson Contreras. Jorge Polanco is 8th overall. Pitchers: Luis Castillo is first with 396, but at $1, Nimmo has Ryu third overall with 366. Matt Boyd $3 is currently eighth, with 330. You never know.

Yesterday's Sox/Tigers game was cancelled early in day. Tigers must have enjoyed a long day/night out in Chicago as 20 of 27 outs today were strikeouts.

Well, at least you waited four days, Mike. Why did I cut Sanchez a couple years ago, two weeks before he was called up and went on a tear? I had him for $2 and held him for 3 1/2 months before that.

Is it bad when your starting pitcher doesn’t record an out?
-
$13 bid is what happens when your team misses the draft and you got money to burn! And also you can’t look at Dan Vogelbach and not want that guy on your team.
-
$13 - is that the highest bid for an in season bid?

Don’t give me too much credit, Mark. He likely won’t be around long.

Hey Mike, I give you credit for not cutting him. A few years ago I had Jason Hamill and he had given up five homeruns in five innings for the Mets. I was so pissed I cut him mid game.
