the auction system has glitches and so for it to work, roster limits and salary limits need to be maintained. i can bid more money than i have and be locked out for the rest of the season to stack players and that doesnt seem fair.

No. That is not how this works. The entire point is to mimic rules for actual teams, which are limited to 40-man rosters plus people on 60-day DL. You cannot stash an unlimited amount of players.

Hey now. I can keep the players as long as I don’t make any lineup changes until season’s end, even if my roster is over the limit now. As long as I’m willing to go without lineup changes, which I am since I am not in contention, I can keep them until cut down day.

I just tried to pick a player up, but when I went to the free agent list, it indicated there weren’t any available. Guess I’ll have to wait for Nimmo’s cuts.

Nimmo - now that you have all the players except for Nimmo, your roster is in an invalid state and was invalid as of yesterday - you now need to cut 7 players today to be valid. Please take care of that before I exercise my awesome Commissionerial Powers

Prior to last night, Fiers had been unbeaten in 21 starts, but also had an ERA of nearly 9 at Minute Maid park. A battle of trends, and we saw which one won.

that's a record for one inning or any number of innings.

Just curious, in the history of this league, has anyone had a lower score for an individual player than what Mike Fiers accomplished tonight? In 1 IP he finished with -75 points. Truly remarkable. I remember Hamel also gave up five for me, but that was over five innings. And I spite cut him that night.

Quite the active deadline! I like it! Missed opportunity for some of the bottom teams to accelerate the rebuild, though. Bummer on that front.

Two items that may be of interest: There are Anderson-Anderson and Gray-Gray pitching matchups tonight. Secondly, they're showing all MLB games free this weekend on MLB At Bat, so may also be including on your cable/satellite. Worth a check.

Hey guys, just thought I'd mention that MLB.TV has a special on now through Sunday night to get the MLB package rest of season for $39.99. You're able to watch all out of market games (other than games nationally televised) so it's a great way to keep up on your fantasy players. The full season costs $112, so this is a real good deal. It gets really fun come September pennant races. I usually get it for the second half with the special, then cancel, as you're automatically renewed, otherwise

Over/under on number of starts Clevinger has before hitting the IL again? I'm thinking three. And bet the under.
-
Marte is just unconscious this year. After today’s pinch-hit, he’s 17-26 (no homers) and 31-60. The only hotter streak I can remember was back in ‘77 when Rodney went 14-18. With two weeks left in the season, he was hitting .370. With the aid of that streak and more, he finished at .388. Imagine, after 600+ AB’s raising your average, when it’s already that high, by 18 points. He was amazing.

That leads me to ask if anyone else has spite cut one of their players? A few years ago, I had Jason Hammel. He was pitching for the Cubs against the Mets. In the fifth inning, he gave up his FIFTH HR of the game. I cut him on the spot, I was so pissed. LOL.

So I had a RP give up 4 straight HRs in ⅔ innings for a total -55 points. I think this is a contender for worst score of the season.

Did you guys see the video of Scherzer yesterday, when Martinez came out to pull him in the eighth inning? First, he screams "NO," when he sees him coming out of the dugout. When he gets out there, Scherzer says, "there's no bleepin way you're taking me out!" Scherzer was at 117 pitches at the time. Martinez leaves him in and he strikes out Votto on three pitches to end the inning. For us old school baseball guys, THAT'S what I want to see out of my starting pitcher.

More fun Bill Buckner stats - in 22 seasons he never had more than 2 ks in a game; fewer career Ks than Tim Anderson and Carlos Correa (who is 24) and total salary of $2.8M (spread over 22 years).
