  • I think it’s a real slippery slope to veto trades based on different perspectives of “fairness.” However, in this case, since me and Lava’s owner are related, I recognize there is an added concern of collusion. I’m just skeptical that a majority of teams in the league have and/or would be willing to part with significant future value for a 35 y/o 1B.

  • Agreed that there is limited context with trades on Slack and it prioritizes current value over future value, but when a trade gets poop emoji on there, it is presumably viewed as something not close at all. Comments on there confirm that. To Clash City's point, a lack of value going back is what is being said there. The issue is the trade is filled out by two disposable, basically unwanted players in the last week that will just be replaced by two very similar players/prospects.

  • No one is forbidding Lava from trading Freeman, and he's not in a position where he must trade him now either. Some of just feel he should get more in return.

  • This same league had an effective trade of Hunter Brown for McLain and Bautista after Papi dropped Canning. I posted that to Slack and it was voted us unfair too.

  • I’m leaning towards undoing it. But I want to take what comes from Slack with a grain of salt. Each league is its own market, I don’t think a team with a given player should be forbidden from trading them because the outside world says a fair trade doesn’t exist.

  • We saw the Freeman trade posted on Slack (promise it wasn't us who posted) and it has an overwhelming vote for the Freeman side with some poop emoji. That sounds like Slack has deemed it "unfair" and there's been some similar thoughts here as well. Because LT has stated "I do not want to benefit from a trade that is considered unfair," are we going to reverse this trade even it is not actually voted to be vetoed? Honest question because of the original message saying that.

  • I may have jumped the gun on this trade and should’ve waited to move Freeman. I thought trading him earlier in the season might yield more. The other offers I received were also unbalanced. The next best had a slightly younger 1B with less production, a low-impact fantasy pitcher, and a promising prospect (who drew a 2-bid auction recently). I’m placing strong value on MLB’s top prospect list—both players have ranked highly for two years. Open to reconsideration if league deems it unbalanced.
