July 22, 2025 6:08 PM : The Astros placed McCullers on the 15-day injured list Tuesday due to a blister on a finger on his pitching hand.
Analysis: McCullers' move to the IL comes after he was lit up for four earned runs in just 2.2 innings during his most recent start Friday in Seattle. Manager Joe Espada indicated that McCullers had been pitching through the issue for a while, so the Astros will hope that the right-hander will be able to move past the blister after a brief shutdown period. Nick Hernandez was recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land in a corresponding move to provide Houston with some extra bullpen depth, though the Astros haven't named a replacement for McCullers in the rotation.
