Fine by me. Although Jet City is free to make lopsided trades.
-
Please feel free to veto it if it seems unfair for the league. I'm happy to chat more about it and find something more amenable to everyone. Personally, I really like the idea of it because I have been commishioning this league from the start and every year there are one or two teams far below the others in terms of points. Which leads to lopsided trades and other undesirable outcomes. Plus, I pretty psyched about kind of starting over and trying to win again with a whole new roster. Sorry again
-
makes sense. sorry for just pulling the gun on that. perhaps i felt emboldened to do it was because I had laid out that idea at the beginning of the season as something that would increase the league's competitiveness. But I had left it open to the choice of the winning team to decide, since obviously it wouldn't be everyone's idea of a fun thing to do. Since i ended up winning and there were no owners that wanted out or were absent this felt like a way forward.

Sorry I feel like I’m always the nagger on messge boards :) but yeah I think we should discuss things like full team swaps before just doing them. Your unselfishness Comish is admirable but rewarding a bottom team might not be everyone’s idea of good idea. I’d vote a no, but I’m just kne vote. I do think good to discuss first before doing? Maybe for competitive balance top team loses one player to arbitration and one to a league vote? Just a thought :) Love that the league has started ag
-
today is the last day to vote for arbitration!
-
hey all. don't forget to do your arbitration voting.
-
Congrats! To all. We had a good showing as a league in addition to the folks who placed.
-
Congrats John! Great to see a new winner and glad you made it!
-
Congrats John! Let's all enjoy some "stress free" playoff baseball. GO SOX!

Congrats, John! Rough pitching year for everyone, but your team stood out by far in that category. Can't believe that's 3 straight second place finishes for me. Looking forward to another good race next year!
-
Yeah congrats comish! Your team was awesome from start to finish this year! It's been a great fantasy baseball season... and probably single handedly renewed my love of regular season baseball again. Thanks for letting me be part of the league!
-
Congrats John! - for winning it in a tough year. Thanks for commishing. Happy playoffs all.
-
i think that's all folks. great season as always. I think i won. there's a first for everything. I assume everyone will be back in next year. enjoy some time away and we'll reconvene when the rosters unlock and trading can happen.
-
yeah, I wish they would add them to the fangraph sortable stat pages so that we could easily rank the players without doing the math. That would be like they hyperloop.
-
oh wow. i never noticed that before. yay for maths

Wow, check out the Pts/G and Pts/IP columns in the LineUp page. That'll save us a lil time from doing the math! Fancy
-
nevermind. I'm dumb. I reached my innings limits on those positions where they weren't populating.
-
I noticed that yesterday. Not happening to my team, but it looks like it's been happening to you, Fosse, and Fo Shizzo. Completely random.
-
sooo...its kind of late in the game to be a stickler for things. but anyone else having weird non-populating point totals the last two days?
-
We still have a month to go (from the time of the rankings) it'll be interesting to see where we end up

My vote: vote-off method
-
i haven't heard back from anyone regarding not re-upping for next year. So I assume all 12 owners will be the same. If that's the case then we can vote now. If there's anyone that wants out let me know.
-
my 2 cents is that both options are good ones. I slightly prefer the vote off method because it does ensure that there 12 premier players available in the draft each year which allows teams to improve quickly. And it has worked to ensure that our league is competitive year after year. So I think it makes sense to vote on whether there's enough interest in trying it for the 2018-2019 season as soon as we have solidified that we have all the owners in place that will be there then.
-
My vote is to keep the process as is.

I will say this. We have had one of the most competitive leagues by far and this year is no different. The vote off one player style I think has helped to contribute to how teams are built and over multiple years perform. My two cents.
-
Yeah I am similar as Fosse Scream in that I feel strong that we keep the vote off system for this year but could be swayed either way for the following season. Comish could we do a vote of people's preference maybe for the 18/19 season?
-
I prefer normal allocation and would be fine with it as early as next year but I sympathize with people who have made moves based on the current system.

My only strong view is that we keep vote off for this year. After that I could be persuaded either way. I've gotten used to vote off but could be swayed
-
I am in favor of the vote off method. It works the best for competitive equity in a long term league. It helps with our leagues inflation. The longer leagues are around and balanced, like ours, the more it goes up inflation. Read several articles on it. The one year we bumped prices was bad for all teams involved. Besides, this is more real world and creates more real world oriented scenarios. Which is what I love about Ottoneu.
-
Indeed when I speak about arbitration I mean allocation. I stand corrected.

Are we confusing terms? Are you talking about allocation versus voting off? In the past, we've always done both arbitration (minor leaguers go up $1, major leaguers go up $2) and voting off (everyone chooses 1 player from each team to vote off, player with highest vote count gets voted off as RFA, gets $5 discount in next year's auction draft) in the offseason. I'm in favor of sticking with voting off versus allocation for this upcoming offseason.
-
That said, I do appreciate that players have made certain decisions for next year already with the current rules in mind. That makes sense, because certain type of assets are more valuable under voting-off (for example, stockpiling many young players for low salary with hope that more than one breaks out is a good strategy, because in an given year only one can be voted off). So in that sense, I agree with the timing argument.

Fortunately I don't see this league as especially unbalanced, so it might not be as big a problem as some other leagues I am in. Then again, it does promote a bit more turnover on everyone's roster and assets will more rapidly approach market prices/become free agents than under the voting-off method. For me this increases fun (but I recognize that it is a personal preference with which not everyone necessarily agrees) .

I am personally in favor of the arbitration system in the off-season, but I sympathize with Trust the Process's point about the timing of any changes. My main argument in favor of arbitration vs voting-off is that the arbitration process impacts more players on everyone's team and as such has a stronger thrust towards parity (it is more difficult to sustain a competitive advantage, because in arbitration more than one of everyone's surplus assets will be impacted).

I think any changes should take affect the following year. I know I've made many trades with the rules of next year in mind, and don't think it would be fair to smchange that now . If we made a change for the 18/19 season instead of the 17/18 season than we could have the new rules in mind if we made a change
-
hey all. lets have a discussion about voting off vs. arbitration. we've done it before but I think we should revisit it make sure we are all on the same page. ok...go!

In the accepted trade, something doesn't seem right with the outgoing loan. Shouldn't it be on the other side of the equation?
