Does this league have a GroupMe chat or any other centralized area to talk outside of this one? It's very beneficial...so just curious.

Moneyballer is also vacant. We need two owners.
-
Hi Sam. Welcome to the league.
-
Welcome Sam who took over 'Vacate'. And I have a guy named Dave who I think is going to grab Rasputin tonight. That just leaves us with Tim Teufel left vacant I think. Anyone know anyone that would play? Arb deadline is looming...
-
I have one owner joining us, probably today
-
I have three strong leads for new owners. Hopefully we can get these spots filled in the next 5-6 days so arb goes smoothly.
-
We still have 4 teams up for grabs, if anyone has a friend who wants to play. I feel bad about arb for those teams, and that they'll be set back a bit by not participating.
-
Just renewed!

Hi I'm back
-
A million apologies to the owner of BLLB and for any confusion my error caused.
-
While abandoning teams that had not renewed, I mistakenly abandoned Bob Loblow. That team should not be in abandoned status and I have emailed last year's owner to re-claim his team. I will abandon any other owners who claim it until we get the right person back in.
-
I will not be coming back.Thanks.

Moneyballer, Rasputin, Vacate, Taco Night, Tim Teufel: have not heard from these five. They will be vacated and available on Wednesday if they're not renewed by then or I haven't heard back from the owners. If anyone has a friend who wants to join I'll give them a first come/first serve pick of teams.
-
will be renewing tomorrow!

Re-upped, let's arb! I'll see if I can get some friends in on this league.
-
If anyone knows anyone who would like to join the league, please let me know, or have them reach out to me via email, and in a week or so if the non-renewed teams who have not asked for an extension are still in that status, I'll give your newcomer friend first pick of those teams. Thanks.
-
In the event that you are leaving, and are getting these messages but not participating in the league page, would be helpful if you'd take some time to complete the arb voting for your team, and then tell me you're leaving. That way I can recruit a new owner and if I'm able to land one before 11/15 they can change the arb voting to fit their desires, and the team can participate in arb if we get a new owner after that.
-
That, or renew. I hate to see arb finish and to have teams not participate in arb, which leaves the new owners at a competitive disadvantage. I don't want to go through and flag teams as abandoned and recruit new owners if those of you who have not renewed plan to stay.
-
Re: renewals. We only have four teams renewed for next year right now, with two people telling me they wanted a couple weeks' extension due to life stuff that I've agreed to extend. That leaves half the league in questionable status, which is disappointing since arb has begun. If you have not renewed or reached out, please let me know that you're leaving, or that your'e staying and need a bit more time.

The minor leaguer thing is a thing we brought up in Year One of this league. I was pro- not being able to allocate money to minor leaguers in order to reward teams who were rebuilding or building toward the future with prospect-heavy rosters. Admittedly, mine was such a roster in Year One, and I think a lot of folks thought I was trying to game the system to favor my roster. I'm still in favor of that, and think it better replicates 'real' baseball.
-
While we're all discussing rules... what do you think about allocations to minor leaguers? I'm not a big fan of that, since there's no parallel in real-life and those players did pass through an auction. Not saying it has to change this year, but would like to discuss why it's a viable strategy or part of the game.
-
I like the idea of everyone voting on trades with more than $20. I'm not against the idea of a hard cap either. Ideally, would prefer some "unwritten rule" that everyone is trying to play a baseball roster management game and not try to maximize every angle as if it's a resource-based strategy game. Or we all agree that it is a strategy game and it's all open.
-
I agree with the idea of the hard cap, but i also feel that there should be a way to monitor things... as you said about the deadline deals, a team that is out of it should be allowed to sell off players to build for the future, but there has to be limitations... I like the idea of getting a full 12 vote on trades handling more than $20, and this league is usually very active so that should not be a problem.

I'm 100% open to other thoughts on this and don't think we should make any changes unless everyone in the league is in agreement.
-
I am tempted to make that amount higher, but my fear is that if we say we need a full vote on all trades with $40 or more changing hands, we will get a trade with $39 changing hands followed by a trade between the same teams with $20 changing hands, and frankly I'd like to make it as difficult as possible for one owner to increase his salary cap by more than 10% over the Ottoneu preset level.
-
To veto a trade, it requires 7 veto votes. In a league of 12, with the 2 who are involved in the trade assumed as 'yes' votes, the vote then must be 7-3 among the remaining votes to stop the trade. So I think one way to do it that might be best is to say that any trade in which more than $20 is changing hands requires a full vote by all 12 members of the league before it can be processed.
-
As far as the hard cap, I'm somewhat in favor of it. I think there are degrees. Like, the trades I killed in May I did mainly because it was a holiday weekend and because it was a TON of money only 8 weeks into the season. I can see the same trade being fine, though, at the trade deadline. So there's gray area there, and I'm not sure how to address it rather than for the league to have a full 12-member vote on each trade involving that much money.
-
I'm assuming BI is out since he has changed his team name to Vacate. Today was the date we set for renewals and we have only four. If anyone needs extra time to renew or is planning to drop please let me know. Thanks.
