Everyone resets to $400 in cap space after the year.
-
On a lighter note, if I may, you tipped your hand that you were high on Blackmon when you mentioned that he may be the most valuable player in the MLB due to his antibodies.
I understand unbalanced trades that fill needs. But I don’t understand how this fills a need for you enough to constitute the cost. And I’ll be a broken record, the loan is bothersome to me.
-
I accept this league is different from others.
-
Right but only to cover Rosario and kershaw, he could drop them to actually gain money, but that isn’t the point is it. Trades like this happen in all my leagues, never heard anyone object to money loans, ever. Veto if you want.
-
He’s adding $41 in cap space to account for $41 in additional salary. So he will still have $7 in space, sure. But he’ll have added $41 in salary.
-
But he IS gaining money. That’s the point of the loan, no?!?
-
I made room for Jo Addel in my lineup by moving Yelich and added MI depth. Which in my opinion is the hardest thing to accumulate. I stand by my trade and why I made it. Had you made your trade and not included a massive loan then I would be able to concede a bit. But loans of that size shift the balance of power in a league horribly. This is a recurring conversation in Otto I feel.
-
Somebody run it through the Otto surplus calculator. If it comes out he gained tons of value, veto. He won’t though.
-
I won’t argue that I probably could have gotten more for Yelich but I felt the return was appropriate. I offered the trade as a matter of fact. Maybe I should have traded Yelich, Kenley, and Chapman for Blohm, Keller, and McKay. Oh and given a $55 loan. Would that have allowed me to immediately fill a need, gain cap space, and improve my team in the future?
-
Loans to even out money are common place in Otto. He is not really gaining $$.
-
Loans of over $10 are always a problem to me. Never had there been an instance of a loan over $10 that didn’t seem like a one sided trade. I’ll read the rest of this thread and respond more.
-
I haven’t even read this thread yet. But I got the value I wanted for Yelich. I had too many quality OF to play in a day. And needed MI help. Biggio has positional flexibility and has a lot of value at his price. Add to that I got two top prospects. I addressed a need for this year and looked to the future. Rendering that Yelich has looked horrible aside from the night our trade processes. To compare the trades is laughable in my opinion. One glaring difference is the loan. I gave no loan.
-
I guess I should have traded Nolan for some who hasn't scored 1,000 points a year the last four years, and traded him for a "prospect."
-
There is prize money this year. Next year I am building around Marte, Lindor, Blackmon and an affordable young pitching staff, I will have enough money to spend in auction. Sorry for being so stupid. Oh wait Blackmon is 35, so he won't be good next year. Meanwhile a 22 year old Biggio who can't average 5 p/g for Yelich gets no scrutiny. Great league we have here.
-
Gambler was the loudest over there being no prize pool (which took 1 week to decide no prize pool was absolutely the right call) and now sendA Arenado, Kershaw, and Rosario for an OF that’ll be $35 @ 35 years old the next time there is a prize pool? Insert Steve Harvey confused as fuuuuuuuk gif right here. 🥴🥴🥴
-
Or, others will come to their own collusions ;-)
-
I'm done. I just couldn't sit by and not point out obvious collusion. Of course, its just my opinion. Others will come to their own conclusions after seeing the trade. Good luck everyone.
-
Your analysis takes positional value of it. PM me, I am sure no one else wants to read this anymore.
-
biggio sucks but Peralta added a curveball. Got it.
-
But hey some people want a AAAA overpriced swingman for two affordable starters.
-
An affordable Arenado outscored Blackmon alone. You can try to sell it all you want. I'm not sure you could fool anyone into though
-
If you can't understand how egregious trading a $38 Yelich for Biggio and minor leaguers that are far from ready from the majors, then maybe I don't need to be having this discussion. You harp on Blackmon's age, but he is showing no signs of slowing down; he has been a 1,000 plus for the last 4 years and having a great year. Maybe you are obssesed with names, but Kershaw and Rosario aren't very good in this format. No way I keep Kershaw at his price, and Peralta is def a keeper for me.
-
I could understand Bob making the argument, but not you. Which drives home my point about collusion. Which is far more damning to a league than owners not wanting to play a 60 game covid filled season
-
I'm confused you keep going back to yelich getting traded for too less then you trade Arenado, Kershaw, Rosario and cap space for pennies on the dollar. Blackmon will be like a $35 35 year old OF next year.
-
Oh, and Freddy Peralta has added a curve, and I think he is actually better as a long reliever/bullpen guy Think he will average 6 p/i and I have a bunch of starters.
-
Don't sure why are focused on the money, it evened out for this year. I personally believe Blackmon is a much better keeper and I think OF is harder to fill with quality than 3rd. I think high scoring OFs bring big advantages because you have to have so many OFs. That is why I personally believe that Yelich trade was egregious. The return was nothing, sorry dude Biggio is terrible. I at least have a legit superstar coming back to me.
-
Because BS should at least be called out. Why did you eat so much salary? Really don't think you could a 34 year old OF for a top 12 player and 2 other starters without giving up 10% of your cap?
-
If you aren't going to veto, then why are you wasting everyone's time?
-
I promise you I won't veto the deal. I've said my peace. I dont think I've ever voted on a deal
-
I am playing by Chicken's rules. I have accepted that, if he vetoes so be it. I am honestly fine with it and won't complain. I chose to stay. In my eyes Blackmon at $31 is a great keeper and is under the radar and rarely gets arb dollars. Arenado is surplus, expensive and gets arb dollars, Kershaw is 4 p/i pitcher and Rosario is 5.5 p/g OF.
I think it is funny the guy gets $38 Yelich for nothing is the guy barking the loudest.
-
Granted you throw out some crazy offers so maybe one just finally stuck.
-
"Perceived" HAHAHAHAHA
-
Commish arbitrarily creates new rules: 😀
Trade you perceive to be unbalanced: 🤯
Get your priorities straight.
WTF on

-
I know you and Bob don't like what the 2 commishs have done/said but crappy situation for the half of the league of us who have just gone with the flow.
-
Interested in Didi for Ketel and $3? Didi nice building block. And around that 5 years older you target
-
A trade between 2 teams not competing with a team getting salary relief or a trade between and top team and a bottom team with the top team getting 3 players for 1 with the best player in the 3. Also didnt lose any cap space on top of it so he can make more moves.
-
I dont think you understand what collusion means...
-
That is my point. Yelich trade = collusion.
-
If the almighty Chicken wants to veto the trade that is fine. This is his league and I wont fight it.
-
Which is funny why you are the one complaining.
-
I will deny it. I dont know Bob from a stranger. A lot stronger case can be made for collusion on the Yelich trade. That isn’t my point.
-
Good luck Gambler. At least you aren't denying its collusion so I'll give you that.
-
But to your point, true. I don’t understand teh value of Biggio for a top 5 player in baseball.
-
You mean Biggio who doesn’t have the hit tool to be a regular MLB player. Hahahah
-
If you think the yelich trade is worse than that one you're just fooling yourself. Or don't understand value of $6 biggio. But it is what it is. Good luck everyone. Let the mayhem trade roll!
-
I wish people would at least be creative when the collude lol
-
let league have chance to veto. I didnt vote against you robbing snell for Yelich. Everyone values players differently.
-
Look my team isnt contending but I'm sure guy in 1st isn't happy with 2nd place getting a handout without sacrificing cap. But I can tell some teams in here were mad at the existing members. I'm just a new owner who wants fairness all around.
-
$38 Yelich for Biggio/Bleday/Witt, was worst trade I have ever seen.
Kershaw is old/injured. Rosario never broke out. Charlie is perennial 1,000 point player at affordable deal.
-
I know there has been drama in this league with some people but thats about as clear collusion as you can make it.
