Funny, the only thing we will probably agree on is that we both don't use slack. Keep trying to "roast" me. No one is buying it. Kershaw is at 4.21 p/i for the year, about what he was when I traded him. Nolan has done very little. The trade isn't as bad as you think it is. I will stop though. At this point, this is seems to be an anger issue you should work out with your therapist.
-
Unlikely I'll stop roasting that dude. (It's ok if you want to drop the $17 SP you overpaid for, who is on the IL with like -10 points on the season, Cavan. It's actually funnier that you refuse to cut such dead weight out of stupid pride than if you just cut him. *Everybody* on slack says so.)
-
Let it the EFF go, man.
-
Wow, Chicken, dance on that Hot-Plate!!! DANCE, Chicken, DANCE!!!
-
That's wild, man, he was Babe Ruth for like 2.5 weeks then it's like blam-O, as if a guy his age shouldn't sustain that or something and now I've got five guys with a higher wRC+ so I'm just confused b/c I thought Blackmon was gonna break baseball this year. Anyway, Kerhaw's last couple outings have been pretty darn good.
-
I heard he was caught within 6 feet of Nolan without a mask and caught whatever disease he had :)
-
I went to buy some milk today and Charlie Blackmon was on all the cartons, anyone know what the deal is with that?

Thanks for trying to get Chicken off topic Nuke.
-
I am done with this conversation. My team name tomorrow morning will say it all.

I wish I could have Nolan Arenado put up 33.5 points in a night and get a $41 loan to pay for it, so he's basically a freeroll. It's cool though b/c Kershaw sux now. #competitivebalance
-
Nuke all those things are fun except the manager wearing the uniform. I really like that the NBA bubble is like "Coaches go ahead and wear a polo." I think MLB could crib from that. I don't need to see a man in his 50s or 60s in polyester capri pants and stirrup socks.
-
Dog, I didn't want James, LOL, I was texting with Snells/Antibodies during the auction like "how much do you think this guy is willing to go for this ancient 'prospect'?" and $17 was the point where I figured if I went $18 I might get stuck with him, and the absolute last thing I wanted was to be stuck with that mediocre-at-best pitcher in the high teens like you are now. Esp considering how many good-to-great P are owned for under $10 in this league.
-
And Love thy neighbor like thy neighbor loves Charlie Blackmon and Josh James.
-
Yeah, nice stuff to read. Love me some baseball. Sad about this season but optimistic for 2021 and beyond. Love the smack talk too ;-)

<3 well done, Nuke
-
The way the middle infielder fakes a throw coming in to get a base runner to slow down ... and the way the base runner almost never falls for it.
-
The tension and sense of danger that builds when the third baseman is playing all the way in for the bunt.
-
The way the person playing first base so welcomes a baserunner to the bag, like a diamond maître d'. "Welcome to the base path! It's great to see you again. Please watch your step for pickoff throws."
-
The simple fact that pitchers can change how the baseball moves by how they grip it ... and pitchers are STILL learning new grips even after all these years.
The meeting at home plate between managers to discuss the ground rules. There's something so wonderfully casual about it, like kids meeting before a pickup game to remind each other that right field is foul territory because they don't have enough players.
-
The way hitters who foul one straight back and believe they JUST missed it will angrily slap the top of the bat.
The way someone in the dugout will throw a ball to the first baseman as he runs off the field at the end of an inning.
-
That gorgeous instant when the hitter rounds second and the outfielder has the ball and you know there will be a play at third but you don't know if it will be safe or out.
That the manager and several infielders usually wait on the pitcher's mound to welcome the relief pitcher, offer a little encouragement, and hand over the baseball.
The drive down the line that is hooking ... either a home run or nothing at all and we wait for it.
-
The fact that every on-deck circle has a bat donut even though no big league hitter has used a donut in years.
That instant when a pitcher just knows that it’s going to be a home run and can’t even look.
The way managers come out with the lineup card to explain to the umpire the complexities of the double switch.
-
That when throwing the ball around the horn after an out, the other infielders usually ignore the first baseman.
The small brush the home plate umpires use to sweep dirt off of home plate.
And the way the umpires turn their butts to the pitcher to do the sweeping.
The “Oh yeah, I caught it” dance that outfielders do after they steal a home run.
-
That on-deck hitters never stand in the on-deck circle. #LittleBaseballThings
That fielders get to play catch before every inning. #LittleBaseballThings
The way almost —- but not quite — everyone skips over the foul line when
entering and exiting the field. #LittleBaseballThings
The fact that there are benches in every dugout ... and nobody sits on them.
No, in baseball, you sit on top. #LittleBaseballThings
-
Little things I love about baseball: that the pitcher has to give the
actual baseball to the manager when taken out.
That coaches and managers wear the uniform. #LittleBaseballThings
That tiny instant between the home plate umpire pointing down the
line and the base umpire deciding if the hitter swung. #LittleBaseballThings

You guys ever read anything by Joe Posnanski? He's a pretty good sportswriter. He had a list of cool, little things about baseball.
-
Hindsight is 20/20. I also dumped Kershaw and his high salary for Peralta at $2 and you cried about it. Funny this all is all coming from the guy who also wanted James. On a rebuilding squad, an owner will often take chances on a young talented pitcher or hitter. Like I said, finish better than 3rd in the league you have been in forever, and then I will listen to your advice.
-
The top 2 teams in this league right now only have 3 pitchers combined at/over $20, and two of those P won 3/4 of the last CYAs, the third guy has won 3 of them, and combined those 3 SP have 7 of them. And none of them is over $34. You James buy is a bad play, and your rationalization to save face on that is a bad look. Have a great day.
-
If you're too arrogant to believe me, look at the sortable stats page with the P points leaders (sort by points). Top ten guys only one is more than $8 and he's $18. There are four guys $23 and up in the top 30--DeGrom, Scherzer, Nola, Cole. #30-60 there are only three guys $15 or more. Paying that much for P, unless they're a perennial CYA, is a sucker's play.
-
If you're ok with $17 on Josh James you should give fantasy football or lawn darts or something a try. No need to spend more on pitching when you can get a Lynn for $7 or a Framber for $2 or a Morton for $11 who even in a down year at the end of his career is better than James will ever be as a starter.
-
Oddly, you are the one complaining about my trade, about how much I spent on Josh James, etc. I am perfectly okay with both.
-
Just finishing praying to my shrine of Chicken. Ready to start my day. Maybe if you spent more on pitching you could finish third this year?!?!
-
Drops in standings. Wakes up and talks smack anyway. FYI Josh James is $6 more than my most expensive P too bad you’re better at complaining than acquiring P.
-
Feeling blessed to wake up and be in a league with a mastermind like Chicken. (Ice Cube’s Today is a Good Day plays in the background). Someday I hope to be a perennial 5th place team!!!!
-
That's how low the bar is, when you're running like 3.3 points/IP literally anyone can talk smack about how bad your team is.
-
And I have no problem admitting my mistakes. It is a bit more of adjustment going from Fangraphs points to Sabr points on pitching. Which is fine and why I am in this league.
-
Talk all you want. Results say it all.
-
Wrong. Just saying he is an intriguing arm and for a rebuilding team was worth the shot. Finish in the money, in your own league, more than once every five years and I will listen to your thoughts on how to manage a team.
-
It's gotta be really hard is to smack talk while running under 3.5 points per IP. Esp when you got pushed to pay $17 for a guy who was in AAA at 26 and who you now refer to as irrefutably a boss like he's Pedro Martinez or something.
-
Anyone interested in stashing Stroman for $9 next year? I'll likely hang on to him and decide later but would entertain trades for him. Wouldn't take a king's ransom to move him.
-
By the looks of it, you haven’t finished better than third since 2016. That really surprises me :)
-
You are so wise chicken!! No player has ever developed after the age of 26. Great analysis. Feeling very blessed to have crossed paths with you and your infinite wisdom.
-
BIG STUFF! 26 and still in AAA type big stuff. Huge stuff. Kershaw, Verlander, that kind of stuff, all those other legends who couldn't crack a rotation until 17 different guys ahead of them got hurt. Can't wait for the 30 For 30.
-
James has an injury history that hampered his development. He has big stuff. I am certainly not the only one who was/is intrigued by him and his potential.
-
How long have you been in the league? Much easier to say than when you aren't taking on a bad team. Also, the I am not trying this year is pathetic, just stop with that.
-
Know how I know there's some denying his talent? He was still in AAA at 26. How many #2 or better starters you know--pitchers who'd be worth $17 at auction--who are still in AAA at 26?
-
There's some denying his talent. There's no denying that you have 26 more IP than I do and like 140 more AB and that I'm not really trying this year and I'm still ahead of you. There's no denying that.
-
If I cared enough, I could go through your team and pick out underachievers. Or maybe I couldn't SINCE YOUR TEAM IS GOING TO BE IN THE MONEY!!! All those guys have talent and the jury is still out on them.
