I think it's really down to the Blue Jays, Ms and Yankees for that final spot. Detroit, Oakland and LA seem too dominant to fall out of it.

...I can remember. I had a hard time concentrating on work. I'm hoping the Toronto Blue Jays falter down the stretch and open up a window for the Ms to get ahead in the rankings. It's a tremendous long-shot but King Felix can win the single game play-off.

Nice work on the shout out Rotor! And nice rankings Theo. I don't know that I have set rankings, but I think we have about 4 or 5 teams with a legit shot to win it.

Thanks for the list, I don't have an easy way to update my power rankings partway through the season but agree that Chalupa Batmen is the most terrifying team.

Joey Gallo is available... But only for an expensive super-star in his prime. Mike Trout, Giancarlo Stanton, Troy Tulowitzki, maybe Miguel Cabrera. I can package him with Matt Kemp and maybe Stephen Strasburg, and maybe some additional prospects.

I'm looking for a win now trade. I have a pretty good farm system, if you have given up on the season and want to trade an expensive star for prospects, please let me know. In particular, I'm looking for SS or 2B.

That's very cool. The 2014 Ms have been a pleasant surprise, although of course it happened right when most of the AL-West is strong. It's like 2002 all over again.

I love OOTP Baseball. My current challenge is to play a single game during the 2014 each day to keep pace with what's actually happening. So far, the real life Mariners are playing much better than my virtual Mariners.
-
Have you played Baseball Mogul or OOTP Baseball? I like playing the 1977 Ms and seeing how many WS I can win making better choices than the actual team mgmt.

I don't remember anything specific about my first baseball game, but I do remember when the Mariners franchise launched in 1977 and being excited about it because my babysitter was excited about it. My Dad took me to a few games in the 70s/80s.

(continued) In the 2nd game of the double header, they rested Mays and the outfield consisted of Matty, Jesus and Felipe Alou.

I remember when I attended my first major league baseball game in Philadelphia. I was just awestruck after walking up the stairs and seeing the field for the first time. I remember a double header against the Giants (Mays, McCovey, Cepeda, etc)

I'm a season ticket holding Seahawks fan, and real football is about as fun as is humanly possible. But I enjoy the mathematical intensity of baseball. The fantasy game can't be beat.

(But fantasy baseball is the best. Especially dynasty league FB with SABR friendly stats - like our league. I don't bother playing anything else anymore.) I am pretty obsessed with FB, and baseball in general.

(Football is really offense only, and injuries make winning and losing really random.) Hockey is actually a lot of fun (at least as scored by Yahoo.)

Fantasy baseball was so much more interesting than fantasy football. Over the next few years I tried all four major fantasy sports. (My critique - basketball has too shallow a player pool, get LeBron James and you'll, probably win,

I started playing fantasy baseball in 2006. My first round pick was David Ortiz, and I also got Miggy Cabrera, Jose Reyes and Brandon Webb. My team made second place.

And then, of course, the Seahawks finally went to the SB in 2005, the same season I started playing fantasy football. I'd been a very casual baseball fan when the Ms were competitive, from '95 to '02, but football was a much more intense experience.

I was not interested in sports as a kid, my Dad wasn't very involved in my upbringing. I liked Star Wars and comic books. I only got into sports in earnest in 2004, I followed the season and rooted for the Philadelphia Eagles to beat the Pats in SB XXXIX.

This summer, whenever he sees baseball on TV, he picks up a wrapping paper roll we saved for him and pretends he's taking swings. He got very excited about Robinson Cano at a game we attended at Safeco Field, because Cano is number "two-two."
