I asked Vibber about this on Slack first, and he said we wouldn't be able to see the abandoned teams. I messaged Niv on the community site after what you said about your other league Mudball. He sent back that he has changed it, and we should be able to see Panik, just not claim. However, we are set up as a private league when I checked the settings a minute ago. This is preventing the team from posting to the dashboard. If we set to public, it will be there.

We won't be able to see teams in our league on the dashboard. It's there just not visible to us.

Anyone know how to contact Niv? Panik at the Frisco is abandoned but not showing up on the abandoned teams list, and therefore can't be claimed.

I'd prefer to end the practice too, because it's hard to keep track of which players are loaned.

Are there any league issues we want to discuss before arbitration starts? Not trying to step on your toes Mudball...just realized Arb is only 9 days out. I know some mentioned wanting to discuss outlawing the type of deal BOHICA and I made. Anything else?

Thank you. It was quite a race. I've got to sell off now, but it was worth it. Congrats to everyone on a hard fought season. Thanks for putting up with my endless trades and inquiries. Everyone gets a break from them until november 14.

I agree that could be a risk, but I also agree that hasn't happened. I just think that the lending of players could skew the "market" value for rentals further than we'd like.

@Batman - I think the risk with these deals is that two owners could work together to dominate the league in alternating seasons. One acts as a prospect farm for the other while one gets the best active players. Then we see the championship pass back and forth between them year after year. I don't think that's been the case in either of the loan trades so far.

Okay - I've spent way too many words on this deal this morning. Just wanted to articulate my thoughts while it was still fresh in my mind. I don't think you two did anything wrong, and I understand the value changing hands. But I do think it's worth thought/discussion on whether we want the practice of "borrowing" players to be a part of our league going forward.

I approved the deal based on precedent and that the loan portion of the deal has limited keeper value. Those guys are expensive to keep and Braves is giving up keeper value for the rental (Per BOHICAs explanation.) I don't particularly like loan deals because I can't easily keep track of them - by the time these things players are traded back I'll have forgotten the specifics of the deal. I couldn't tell you if last year's loaned players were given back.

And I think that goes against the intent a little bit, and can be dangerous when non-contending teams can significantly alter a race without much future value changing hands.

In theory, he's in better shape now because he has all his players and added an incremental asset in Bour. However, I think the intent in a league like Ottoneu is to find a balance between current and future value. Generally speaking, to gain current value in the standings, you need to give up a lot of future value. And I think the practice of "borrowing" players can significantly impact the standings without having much impact on the future value of either team...

I didn't think you were. However, I totally agree with your point about a slippery slope. That's why we attempted to make it where real value was exchanged, but there is nothing to guarantee that your scenario can't happen. I guess you could say that there is risk on the loaner's part that the loanee doesn't send the guys back.
