Good to know - thanks I didn’t know about the veto buttons already in place.
In a longer standing league with consistent owners that know each other I don’t veto — I’ve never vetoed a trade before as a member or commish. In a dynasty league with more turnover I would be more inclined to use a veto for the first time.
-
I have yet to see a trade overturned in 3 years of Ottoneu. I once sent feeler offer for Sebastian Walcott in other league and the owner accidentally clicked accept. The owner asked the league to veto the trade and I voted veto, but it still did not get enough votes to over due to teams abstaining. We had to manually redo the trade
-
I have noticed that there is debate on vetoes. Many think vetoes should be saved soley for trades that involve inappropriate coordination. Others think trades that are deemed one sided or ruin the competitiveness should also be vetoed. I lean the latter but only because most people abstain from voting making a veto extremely hard to happen.
-
I did not believe that trade should have been vetoed and I clicked veto to express my displeasure and regret that since I couldn't change it after. I disagreed with the process and timing but it was made in good faith.
-
Rule VI d: After a trade is confirmed, league managers have 24 or 48 hours to review the trade, per league settings. If a majority (50% + 1 vote) of league managers object to the trade, it will not be finalized. This clock begins automatically once both teams have accepted the trade on the site. (The buttons are on the trade page.)
-
I think maybe some of the context lost on a guy trading his first day in season is he sent a Top 5 SP to a team in 1st place that is already a power house. When I make trades I generally take into context who I’m trading with. Doesn’t mean I necessarily think the trade was veto worthy but I see why 2nd place wasn’t happy.
This is my first year too - and I don’t want to rehash last week too much, but I was wondering for future if there is a league veto process or is it commish disc
-
Hey, sorry if felt trade was unfair. Just wanted to get something for Yamamoto since I wasn't planning on keeping and think the guys I got will help me this year and hopefully in the future as they're all keep with some upside. Happy to go more in depth if need and maybe should've shopped him around more as It was my first day, so that is my bad on that.. but feel personally I got a decent return for a big salary guy. I'll try to be more patient with my other big salary guys going forward
-
To be fair I think Yamamoto is a sure fire rental and probably two of those players have a chance to be keepers for a team that is rebuilding. Possibly could have shopped him and more but really only a couple teams looking buy a $47 Yamamoto.
-
I accepted a counter but am happy to reverse it if the new owner has regrets. Most people in my life don't think I'm scummy.
-
The old trick that scummy owners use on new owners, pile up a heap of garbage and then offer it for a marquee player. Did it come with the usual sleazy car salesman pitch?
-
This is the poster child of a vetoable trade. Absolutely appalling trade. We get a new owner and five minutes later a lopsided predatory trade by the biggest crybaby in all my leagues combined. This trade is pure bullshit.
-
Thank you! Yes this will be my first year in ottoneu but I'm an active dynasty player. May have a few questions along the way but excited to learn as I go.
-
Looks like i was able to find someone. Welcome David! he actually helped with the proxy draft and familiar with auction prices and such. But this will be his first year in ottoneu. Think will be a good squad and league to learn with so many active owners. Thanks everyone and here's to a fun last few months of the season!
-
Hey everyone. The owner of SlumpBusters had some life things come up and couldn't manage the team like originally thought. I abandon the squad and marked the league as private to make sure find an owner to take over for the rest of the season and beyond. Let me know if any questions or someone that may help. Have some feelers out already. Thanks and has to be the most trades in a season by far!

At the time there was a lot of risk trading for Acuna. It was unknown how long Acuna would be out and how long it would take for him to be productive. I was looking at carrying his $42 salary for potentially half the season with nothing to show for it. Schultz at the time was one of the top three pitching prospects and was ascending. This was pre-auction where one can do quite a bit with $40 in the auction.
-
The Acuna deal I did in the off season pre auction and I wouldn't have done it with a loan in season. I thought/think Acuna career is on the way down with so many serious surgies, that Schultz would be up before Acuna healed due to White Sox terrible roster + farm, and that I could utlize the excess money in the auction. But now not that trade is looking bad. I have been having bad history with prospect pitchers. Important to consider everyteams salary should go up 80ish in off-season
-
It's all in good fun but I think the two teams with over $500 in cap and salaries stand the best chance to win. It's interesting to me as I learn how to play the game that Grizzly and Winnetka have both used Zac Gallen to create $24 in cap space with Mayors thru swap and cuts and all it cost was prospects that most likely wont be up this year and may or not may pan out. I also looked back and saw there was an Acuna for Schultz trade that caused a stir for similar reasons.
-
*5 teams! Bruins you are still in the chase with 100 leas innings pitched. And I am looking for keeper value at this point, so not opposed to trading propsects for someone with potential keeper value.
-
Vibes and gators are also in the chase, but that is still only 4 teams that could be interested in win now players for prospects. My initial trade offer of Gallen with only 50% loan would have made sense and I would have played more hard ball if I wasn't scared that Gallen becomes drop after his start on Saturday. It was a major miscalculation not getting Montes for 1 then adding 12-24 dollars.
-
I’m new so I haven’t quite figured it all out but it seems like this league this year is who can loan the most to grizzly and Winnetka and let them duke it out an hope for next year. I don’t see anything wrong with it and hopefully it will be someone else looking to get loans in next year. Some teams are buyers and some sellers. I do think that just cutting Gallen and bidding for Montes would have made more sense, hopefully it was just a miscalculation and not something worse.
-
It's all good I like trades and so do you
-
I messed up by not bidding on Montes and had to pay up. He is 33rd ranked propsect with power and not many red flags on an aging team that is stranded in the horrible area of too good for top picks but not good enough to win a pennant. The trade was a counter and I do think the 12 dollar loan is the bad part of the deal as at the end of the day all minor leaguers are uncertain. But there aren't any minor league 1 dollar replacements at the moment that are top 33 70% owned
-
I didn't pick up Walcott for $1 uncontested a day before that trade. I don't understand the timing. It's a fine trade I just don't get it.
-
I could have been the loan king right now
-
Am I terrible at math. But I thought recieved 5 dollars worth of players for spending 96 dollars worth of Gallen + Alcantara and Bautista. Taking it to over 100 dollar loss
-
Those two trades netted you $32 (after cutting Gallen) in cap room in addition to keepable assets like Framber, Will Smith, Alcantara and Bautista all for Alcott and Eldridge. Nobody made any complaint on those trades.
-
Chicago Mayors
Felix Bautista $8
Sandy Alcantara $6
Zac Gallen $24
Loan $34
Grizzly Adams
Sebastian Walcott $4
-
Grizzly Adams
Francisco Alvarez $10
Christian Scott $1
Kumar Rocker $3
Bryce Eldridge $4
Farm to Table
Framber Valdez $20
Will Smith $15
Loan $25
-
Simply cutting Gallen frees up $12 immediately instead of a guy he didn't care to bid on 72 hours ago. It's puzzling.
-
What else was he going to get for Zac Gallen?
-
I don't understand not bidding $1 on a guy 2 days ago then giving a $23 loan to get him today
-
Yordan Alvarez is on the block for prospects.
-
I can't ever remember this many auctions running at once. Really active league this year, that's great
-
Sent you a message about the in season moves rules. Yes can acquire cap space via trades or cuts(there’s a cap penalty explained in detail in the rules section). Auctions during the season are 48hrs with blind bidding to the highest bidder, any ties during the season go to the team lower in standings
-
And these current auctions for players I see on the league page - these are players that have been nominated/bid on and will be processed Saturday?
Thanks for your patience in answering my Qs!
-
This is my first year in ottoneu. I need to create cap space.
What are the ways I can do that? Through trade... and through dropping a player that is picked up by another team?
-
I have someone that can help as well. Reminder draft tonight at 8central/9est
-
I sent a message to one owner that is pretty good and experienced and a message to another league that I am in that doesn't have as much cross ownership in this league to see if they can draft for you Grizz.
-
Yes no need to reschedule I'm good with a proxy if you can find one through the posting
-
At this point may be hard to reschedule since it'll be in 2 days and really was the only day we had majority available. Could try to post on the forums for a proxy drafter which I've had luck with in the past.
-
I just found out I have to travel for work Thursday. It is too late to reschedule, so how should we best handle that? I'm fine just using the waiver wire after the draft to fill the spots if we have to. If anyone knows someone that could draft for me I could provide a general range of targets.
-
Looks like Thursday March 6th at 8PM CST was the best option for all. Thanks everyone and hopefully can keep that date. Should be a fun draft! if any questions just let me know.

Auction should be very interesting this year.

Last day to make any moves/cuts before the draft. Everyone has renewed for next year and looks like the season starts with the tokyo series march 18th, so if want to do get a draft in before then. Let me know if have any availability issues for march and can send out a poll tomorrow. Thanks for a fun offseason!

Anyone interested in Rutschman. He's yours for a cheapish starting 3B.
-
Welcome! Glad to have you. Still a few days left before the keeper and renewal deadline which is this Friday night.

New owner, I am an active owner, I'm hoping this league is also. I just set my available players, but I will listen to any reasonable offers.

Welcome!
