Not rooting for them, but I think the Jays have a solid chance to make it out of the AL, even without the bye. Seems like what has plagued them in the regular season (depth at the back end of the rotation?) might actually be the easiest thing for them to hide in the playoffs.
-
I got the Phillies making a strong push if they can sneak in so I'll go with Yankees/Phils or Yankees/ dodgers if the Phillies don't make it in...
-
Who does everyone like to come out of each league and match up in the fall classic? They Dodgers lineup is tough, but it’s all about pitching in the playoffs. I’ll go with an Astros-Mets WS

Glad we had a two-week final to “even out some of the luck” from a one-week semi 😉 Gotta give some love to my two studs Kyle Bradish and Joey Meneses for carrying the squad home. Cheers to a competitive season y’all, hope for more of the same next year

I thought I was being slick on Saturday starting Flaherty and keeping Ohtani's bat in the lineup. That was a huge mistake but Jansen would have ruined it anyways lol.. that walkoff from Saurez was probably pretty epic live. Excited to see how this championship plays out.
-
Eloy’s gonna face Colorado and Detroit pitching for the next two weeks so not too worried, as long as he doesn’t pull up running out a ground ball to 2nd 😂 And Jon Gray is coming off the IL today to shove against Miami so I should be all set lmao
-
FREDERICK threw up a 209 point day yesterday to give me a scare...unfortunately we were matched up with each other or our performances would have had us matching up in the championship...two week trophy matchups should even out some of the luck that could come from one week (such as having your best player playing garbage teams like Oakland)

I watched Eugenio hit that home run live yesterday and thought I was cooked for sure — hadn’t realized Kenley was on your squad too 😭 Kyle B of the Birds came thru big for me. great matchup!

That was a pretty intense round.. good luck in the ship y'all..

I play because it’s fun and I enjoy establishing positive relationships with others who enjoy this game. Thanks for letting me into the league and I best of luck to everyone.

Thank you, Kopech, I truly appreciate the detailed breakdown. I would love to pick your brain sometime during the off-season. Unfortunately, I’m not so sure you’re going to want to go out of your way to stay in touch with someone who does not play in this league next season. I just can’t see myself willingly paying money to be talked at by some stranger I’ll never know the way Tomatoes does. I am not from the philosophy that believes that is “part of the game”. It is just that: a game…

With a fair value chasm of $26 between the two offers, I understand the angst expressed by some managers. However, I do not believe any foul play or poor intentions influenced the proposed transaction.
I urge every manager to put this in the past and get along. I hope Mr. Wu and Mr. Tomatoes in particular can find a way to satisfy one another’s need for peace, community, and sportsmanship. Baseball Quants 2.0 values your participation.

Mr. Tempest analysis continued:
2) Mr. Bello: signed for $2, with an avg. value of $2 in all leagues (70% owned). Mr. Bello was not even a top 20 prospect in baseball as of July, per Baseball America. Given that about 70% of Baseball America top 100 prospects fail, I see nothing to warrant more than a $2 value for Mr. Bello at this staging, aligning with the rate he obliged Mr. Tempest with.
Thus a total value of $10: Mr. Gray $8 and Mr. Bello $2.

I peg the fair value of Mr. Tempest’s offer at $10:
1) Mr. Gray: signed for $8, with an avg. value of $5 in all leagues (96% owned). Mr. Gray has delivered a namesake performance over the 30-year-old’s eight seasons in the bigs, with no single year reaching an average of 5 points per inning pitched. He’s having a better 2022 with fewer gopher ball given up in the friendlier confines of Choctaw Stadium rather than Coors Field, so I’ll give him a fair value of $8, the amount he is sig

Mr. Wu analysis continued:
2) Mr. Peralta: signed for $16, with an avg. value of $10 in all leagues (100% owned). With 6+ points per inning pitched in each of the last 3 seasons, 26-year-old Mr. Peralta is already shooting star. Being conservative, I assume Mr. Peralta is still only worth the $10 average price across all leagues. With him signed for $6 above this amount, I assign him a $4 fair value.
3) A $14 loan
Thus a total value of $36: Mr. Muncy $18, M

The components of Mr. Wu’s offer are available below for your perusal:
1) Mr. Muncy: signed for $17, with an average value of $18 paid across all leagues (100% owned). The 31-year-old slugger has produced a stellar 6+ points per game (ppg) in 3 of the last 4 seasons. 2022 has been a down year, but he’s heating up with 9+ ppg in the last 10 games and makes for a solid mean reversion candidate going forward. I assign a fair value of $18.
More to follow…

I will begin with analyzing the fair value of Mr. Wu's offer, which I peg at $36. My approach is rooted in evaluating how much a player is signed for, and how that compares to my assessment of fair value, with average prices paid across all leagues and ownership percentage helping serve as an anchor.

Mr. Tempest and Mr. Wu, I received your requests for transaction analysis. As one of the managers who vetoed the proposal, I will oblige your request and expostulate. I pegged the fair value of Mr. Wu’s offer at $36 and Mr. Tempest’s offer at $10, thus evoking concerns that Mr. Tempest sought to abscond some of Mr. Wu’s prized jewels, albeit with no foul play involved. My commentary spans several messages, so I urge your patience and forbearance of judgment.

Apologies, I didn't realize you were so naive to getting raped on a deal like that was ok for all the other teams still in contention. It's part of the game sir. No hard feelings, I'm sure as shit not losing sleep over it.
-
All the same, I truly appreciate all of the real feedback that was given; it helps me improve as a player. The comments about butt buddies and mocking my convo with another player like I was some kind of suck-up wasn’t really appreciated, necessary, or helpful in any way. Not my style. Keep your duragatory feces to yourself in the future Tomatoes.

It was just really bad all around, what's there to discuss... Restructure away.
-
A AAA guy on the Red Sox who rarely develop and use their own minor league pitchers and a mediocre 30 year old pitcher didn’t strike me as a great return. Then on top of that the loan when you would have already had the cap space to cover the trade seemed super unbalanced.

Well for me it wasn't the the rich getting richer for a playoff run thing (I'm way out of it) it was that you were getting 2 starters (Muncy would start for you and the pitcher) for an injured 'hope he does as well next year' guy...and getting paid for it to cover your cap cost because you have high ticket players. Normally the cellar dweller gets the suck it up money when a contender wants to pad the line up.
-
It would be helpful to have some substantive discussion about the deal that just got vetoed? I trust that y'all thought this was just not a balanced exchange, but since nobody has had anything substantive to say it also feels like the "veto" button was just easy to press for teams who didn't want to see the best team in the league so far get better. Would also appreciate at least some conversation so we know what to think about when restructuring the deal. Thanks!
-
You can not like the trade because it obviously helps me much more this season. I'm not sure if I was Wuhan's Warriors I would have agreed to the exact same trade -- but the logic of the trade is sound. You shouldn't veto a trade just because it obviously helps a contending team in the short-term and won't help a non-contending team until next year: that's kind of how this is set up to work.
-
"There's a $23 difference between Peralta/Muncy and Gray/Bello, and I can't keep Muncy (currently 81 OPS+) or Peralta at those prices past this season -- whereas Gray is probably very much worth $10 next season and Bello is a top 10 pitching prospect -- so the $14 loan for this season would help offset that discrepancy a bit."
-
It'd be one thing to think this is an uneven trade but miss me with the suggestion that there's any cheating going on here. Four teams in this league who are unlikely to make the playoffs this year can attest that I've messaged them in the last week looking for starting pitching in exchange for injured players at controllable prices for next year. I don't know Wuhan's Warriors and this is the first time we've ever messaged. Here's the reasoning verbatim I gave for the structure of the deal:
-
Oh I did trust me, I just needed to get that off my chest. Fantasy cheaters don't belong in any league.
-
RT, you’ve gotta veto the trade like the rest of us

In case anyone needs a refresher on how scoring works each week, review "FanGraphs Points" here: https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/scoringoptions
When I played last year, I realized you can never have enough starting pitching to accumulate those innings pitched points despite fickle rotation schedules.
