Anyone want to trade?
-
I'd do that
-
Sounds great! I’m I !
-
I'll let him include methods of payment. Good luck everyone! Looking forward to a fun year.
-
Last year we did an optional $25 buy-in for a winner's pot if people are interested in doing that again. If you want to participate and have some extra skin in the game, the breakdown worked as such: If we have up to 4 paid participants, the highest place contributing participant takes all. 5-8 participants means top 2 finishers will be paid out 67/33%. 9-12 participants would be 60/30/10% payout. If you want to participate, please send your $25 to our commish, Stefan, no later than 1/31.
-
Hey guys - just wanted to let you all know the league is full. Thanks. Please remember to make your cuts by JAN 31! Good luck trading!
-
I added Gary Sanchez back to Nolans. He mistakenly cut and is working out the system
-
I did three in five minutes yesterday. Let me take a look at the roster tomorrow, Jeets, and I'm sure we'll be able to sort something out!
-
Anyone looking to make some trades?
-
Understand you have never done Ottoneu. Let us know if you have questions. If you could please complete arb in the next 24-48 hours it would be much appreciate.
-
Up to you of course! Additionally we just completed arbitration which is a process that gives $25 to you to spend on other teams to increase the cost of players they on. It’s a vital part of this format and I would love for you to participate: here are the rules:
You have $25 to spend total
You must’ve give each team atleast $1
You can spend no more than $3 on each team
See some of the example below in the message boards. List the team name, the player(s) a

Welcome Phil (It’s Nolan’s Mind out here). Several of us here know real life Phil and are in a fantasy football league he runs. He’s a good commish and we’re happy to have you! For you Phil, we are in trade and cut season. You have until JAN31 to get your roster under 400 dollars. Keep in mind that this is an auction league so you will have to spend towards the 400 dollar max cap at the draft. I’ve seen successful owners clean house and also got in with only 30 bucks if they like what they have
-
For the rest of you - especially those new to ottoneu, it's planning season. You can make trades and cuts up to JAN 31. By JAN 31 you must be under $400 dollars again. Remeber that after JAN it's back to draft season so decide how you want your salary and roster to look going into the draft. I'll send out occasional reminders but please hit this deadline.
-
Thanks for participating so fast Jeters (EVAN). Adjustments made. I would like to extend the same opportunity for the last two teams. I do have one person who is interested so hopefully he will join soon.

Great!! Thanks Evan - If you just wanna post your increases like the example below on the message boards I’ll make the allocations on your behalf
-
I have! I have been around ottoneu for pretty close to a decade. I can get a list together and send it over later today.
-
Hi Evan, Welcome to the Mendoza league. Glad to you have. I realize this is a bit unorthodox but I wanted to give you the chance to participate in Arbitration for your team since the previous owner quit at the end of the season. Have you done arb before?
-
Howdy everyone! My name is Evan, glad to be here. Going to be open for business shortly, so shoot me a message if you want to talk trade.

You have $25 to spend total
You just give each team atleast $1
You can spend no more than $3 on each team
-
In some cases he only gave a single dollar. If you want to type up a list of your allocations similar to joes I can manually increase the players of your choosing
-
Hey Ben - understand it’s your first year in Ottoneu. we have something something called arbitration which takes place right after the season with about 4 weeks to complete. Each year you have $25 to raise the salaries of players on the other 11 teams. You must raise the salary on one player on each team by at-least 1 dollar. You can only spend a max of 3 dollars per team. Look at joes written example below. He gave $3 to Julio on my team and on other teams split up that 3 across several players
-
Wait, what are we doing here?
-
Thanks Joe - Ben if I don’t hear back by the end of tomorrow we will move forward.

For the sake of league integrity, two owners missed arb. Ben Hendricks this was your first time in ottoneu so no worries. If you would like to allocate to other teams please post in this chat by end of today. @JoeTenglia please do the same. I know you just missed the date by mistake and wanted to allocate. Please post your allocations here - If any other teams have issue with a 1 time allowance let me know. You each have $25 and must allocate at least $1 to every team.
-
I'm still somewhat optimistic - i just didn't count on 4 long time guys to back out. It's NOV and no one cares about baseball right now just I think there is still some hope here.
-
I'm still on the message boards and slack looking for 3 new owners. It's a challenge. Will keep ya'll posted. There are a lot of leagues seemingly in the same boat. I've probably come across 30-40 different messages thus far where leagues are looking for replacements. Tuff time a year to find replacements. Will keep it up but can't promise anything. We may have to move through ARB without those teams allocating - if we are sitting in in JAN with no progress we may need to consider folding.
-
I’m sorry I got very busy towards the end of the season. I think it will be good to have consecutive years with the same rules. I think there was just an adjustment period of understanding this format.
-
For what it's worth, I always do arb late in the window (but always get it done). I'll definitely work on cuts (and trades! Seriously, I was the Dipoto of Mendoza somehow) and am fine with the same scoring format.
-
All good! I didn’t hear it that way. It’s fair to being the question up bc engagement is what makes the leagues fun and if that is a consistent struggle it’s fair to ask how much individuals really care about this. Hopefully we’ll get into full gear but if not the question is beyond fair and a decision would have to be made on continuing.
-
I certainly mean no personal criticism, and I appreciate the positive outlook.

Totally understandable. We have 3 teams still available actually. Those 3 players leaving were somewhat surprising to me. 2 of them have been in our league for a decade. We can commit to the same scoring system. Tuff time a year to get new owners but I am trying. Most of the teams here are all friends so I can reach out to make sure arb happens. Still have a few weeks there.
-
The lack of enthusiasm here is not encouraging. Five teams look solid but four owners are gone, and three others not participating in arbitration, and doubts about the scoring format next year. Will Mendoza Baseball be back next season? For me, I would like 12 owners making keeper cuts in January and a commitment to the same scoring system used this year. Anybody else on the fence?

Still figuring out this owner sitch. For those of you who are new make sure to get your arbitration bids in over the next 4 weeks to raise teams salaries.
-
Can...can I switch????
-
I have confirmed the following teams will need to be replaced:
Mike Trouts Neck Circumference
Ryan's Dazzling Gents
Team Bell
Nilbog Freaks
Feel free to reach out to anyone you know who may be interested. I will also post on the message boards. Ideally it would be nice to get these spots filled sometime during Arb so they can participate.
-
I agree with that perspective. My one real qualm with it was halfway through the year several of us were thousands of points ahead which felt strange. Not saying that doesn't happen in H2H or roto. I just imagine several owners just were like well i have 0 chance now so i give up.
-
I will say one thing I like about points is if someone checks out, it didn't impact teams that were still trying. You scored points (or lost them, in some cases) regardless of whether someone was competing still or not. I hated the H2H matchups with people who checked out because they could get lucky and destroy you because they players they started 2 months ago go off that week, which seems less fair. Def prefer whatever keeps most teams engaged, but points has potential I think.
-
What scoring system do you prefer going forward?

Yeah I am all down to keep things the same but was curious about people's opinion on a vote. It was my first year doing points and i think that was true for others too so i was curious to see how people liked it or not lol
-
Conversely, it also kind of rocked when you'd see you had net 10 points or something and your hitters had 50 points but then a pitcher have up 3HR in 2IP and scored -35. That was always kind of a funny thing. And the elation you feel when you bench a -35 point start.
-
Nice job, Dan! I was talking to BoBB about this Tuesday, and while I'm not a huge fan of the points system, it did rule when I'd check the scores and see, like, 45 points by Goldy's name lol
-
A couple of things to cover as we head into the off-season.
1. We had 4 teams that really stopped participating very early on - I'll need to figure if those guys would like to continue to play.
2. I personally would be in-favor of changing the league scoring settings to one of the other options. Something felt flat about just racking up points alone. I was thinking of having a poll to see how people felt. Happy to stay the same.
-
Great job, Dan!
-
Congrats to El Segundo. Well Done.
