Considering this is our 1st ever vetoed trade in 3 years, I'm not very concerned that vetoes are going to become regular
-
I hope it’s water under the bridge, because I love trading and don’t want my trades to keep getting vetoed just because my team is doing well at the moment. Player evaluations are different for everyone and change daily based on performances just like the stock market.

I abstained from voting and think veto should only be used in cases of collusion, which this is not. Even if a trade seems odd or we feel like more value should have been received if 2 teams agree they have their own reasoning. Since this trade got vetoed, what is going to happen at the trade deadline when stars are being traded for cheap players and prospects and $100 loans. IMO, those trades are way worse with direct impacts on playoffs. Are all trades going to be vetoed? It's a slippery slope
-
I think this was a one off situation and I doubt we'll become a veto happy league. For me, I consider my threshold to veto a trade is pretty high. I think this trade was the perfect storm of Bleday having just been auctioned for $3 and the history of loans between the teams. As far as I'm concerned, it's water under the bridge. Carry on!
-
From my perspective, I don't understand how the evaluation of Bleday goes from not willing to put a bid on him to trading your best pitcher plus $ in less than a week. I'm all for letting people manage their teams as they see fit, but I also find this trade pretty indefensible. It's the first trade I've ever vetoed in 20 years of fantasy sports, so I don't anticipate this being a normal thing
-
I abstained and I still don’t think it’s the most egregious trade this league has seen… Sorry you’re having to defend yourselves.
-
This league has ridiculous trades happening all the time. I didn’t vote to veto this one. People have different strategies. Hopefully we don’t become a veto-happy league.

I didn’t think vetoes actually happened, but it wasn’t a colluding trade nor do I know Big Papi personally. I’m just very active on the trade front so I’m always sending offers and sometimes get counteroffers. Some hit some miss. But I’ve never had one vetoed. Open to offers and making deals whenever.

Did wild things join the 3 sport league big papi memories was talking about? that's about the only way this bleday for bibee and cash trade makes any sense...

Kirilloff mistake
I meant to just drop Massey. Not both him and Kirilloff. Could I get Kirilloff taken off waivers please?
-
Happy Opening Day! Good luck to everyone this year.
-
3 sport?? Can you tell me more?
-
I run a 3 sport dynasty league with salary cap and contracts and have an opening. If anyone is interested, send me a message.
-
No worries. I was willing to take the 50% salary penalty too and just free up $8 more for the draft. But is what it is.
-
Unfortunately Reignmen, I agree with Sweet Spot and Rhys Pieces, injuries are just a part of the game, although the circumstances of this injury are rough!

Agree with sweet spot. I think it happens to everyone at some point. Definitely unfortunate though
-
I would say no only because it’s just part of the game. McCullers for me is out and I’d like to cut him too but I made the choice (wrong one) to keep him

So our really expensive closer just got too happy and is now out for the year. Is it possible to cut him before the draft?

Has the team with no owner been marked abandoned so it can hopefully be claimed by tomorrow?

I am willing to shop Aaron Judge for the right price. But it’ll have to be real good cause he’s also on such a great deal.

Just a reminder, arbitration ends tomorrow. Make sure to use all of your dollars and make sure you allocate at least $1 to each team. Don't let the competition raise your salaries without returning the favor!
Let me know if anyone has any questions.
-
We do the Allocation method. This is where between now and November 14th you can allocate dollars to other team's players to increase their costs.
-
Do we do the "Vote off Player" Arbitration? if so how do we nominate a player?

A reminder about arbitration folks - it ends Nov 14th. TO help keep the league competitive - you should participate.

Hey all, hope everyone is enjoying playoff baseball. This league was a blast this year, congrats Northsiders on a fantastic championship run! Looking forward to next year

Tatis is available. Looking for SP and OF
-
He's not on the 40-man, and the 60-day IL is only utilized to open a roster spot on the 40
-
Question : Why is GRod on 7IL when we know that he won't pitch again this season?
-
Happy All-Star break. Looks like we're in for an exciting stretch run over the last six weeks of the regular season. Wouldn't be surprised to see things come down to Sunday of Week 20. Who will prevail and get the coveted second playoff bye? Can Sandy Sons hold off the trio of 6-8 teams fighting for the last playoff spot? Time will tell. Good luck everyone!
-
Looking at the waiver claims history, it looks like only sandy had put in a claim. Not sure if the checkbox got removed for you, reignmen?
-
I agree, that's weird. Has anyone else noticed a waiver claim not going through that should? My only guess is that it uses total points scored.
-
I don't know, that is weird. I agree the rules say priority goes to lower in standings. Reignmen was 0-2 while Sandy was 1-1, so Votto should have gone to Reignmen. Did Ottoneu make a mistake?

I was just curious I thought waiver claim went to lowest in the standings? How did sons get votto when my team was in 9th and sons was in 6th

Congrats to all on making it to opening day.

I would add on by saying the downside of loans is for a team to let’s say compete and having to take a loan from another team, come cut time to trim down payroll can make it more difficult. But I would say it’s a balanced transaction.

The other thing I'll say is it does require a shift in view from the competitive balance in a single year, to the balance over a string of years. Some teams may end up with 200+ loans in or out, but that's part of the uniqueness of the ottoneu system imo
-
I'm not the one to ask for downside! I think their logical to make deals work. The amount of additional cap space you receive/give and how that is valued with respect to the players exchanged is the question for me, but loans in general allow for rebuilding teams to move expensive stars for cheap prospects/future value or for teams who have more immediate needs to move on from an injured guy, etc.
-
Thanks for the example Rhys. So what's the downside of giving out loans if cap is separate and cap is what determines whether your roster is legal or not?
-
It would have shown in the offer the same way that it shows on the accepted deal (under the last player on the team who's giving the loan)
