OPL Update: Geezer is 28th. Roca is 71st. Watch out for Geezer in our league. He is focused on his roster for OPL now, but once OPL has the last roster lock, he will be all out for our league trying to defend his championship.
-
Last week was a wild one with many lead changes. Geezer led for the week, followed by Roca and Cool Papa. Cool Papa, Roca and Hudson are the leaders for the last month. Cool Papa, Roca and Hickman are the points leaders. The top hitters are Geezer, Cool Papa and JBO. The top pitchers are Roca, GTown and Freshmeat. Good luck this week!
-
200 for Hickman!
-
5 reams within 100 pts (the equivalent of 1 games in standings).
-
200 for Maple and he takes the lead!
-
OPL Update: Geezer is 28th of 240 and Roca is 108th. The cut to 170 occurs after the 5/14 games so Geezer is safe but Roca needs to keep focused!
-
Lots of auction action this week, but the big news is our new leader Cool Papa. Cool Papa, Hickmand and Geezer were the leaders last week, while Cool Papa, Maple and Hickman are the leaders for the past month. As a result, Cool Papa and Hickman both passed Roca over the weekend to move into first and second. The top hitters are Geezer, JBO and Cool Papa. The top pitchers are GTown, Roca and Cool Papa. This morning, 27 games is on pace for 162. Good luck this week!
-
skers got 56 from Eugenio Suarez yesterday!
-
200 for GTown!
-
OPL update: Geezer is 26th, Roca is 109th.
-
I was at the World Vaccine Congress today so was not able to do my weekly update on Monday morning...but I did take a screen shot of the standings.
We have a close race among the top 6 with Roca, Hudson and Maple the top 3. JBO, Geezer and Portland are the top hitters, while GTown, Roca and Cool Papa are the top pitchers.
-
200 for Cool Papa!
-
Also need to adjust for innings pitched. Big differences in total innings pitched are magnified this early in the season. PPG and PPI are also good proxies for where you stand. To our new players, while you don't want to come up short on your 1500 IP, you also don't want to not be able to field any pitchers in September. Sit or start decisions for SPs are the hardest thing in Ottoneu in my opinion.
-
Hey all! The leader will be at roughly 100pts/d.....so you can determine games behind by subtracting your score from the leaders score then dividing by 100. We currently have a 6 deep group fighting for 1st.
-
Ohtani goes on paternity leave and I drop in standings, but he is back today :)
-
200 for Hudson yesterday!
-
I overlooked Maples big day yesterday! Another over 200!
-
I found a team stat in which I lead! HBP.
-
I really like Grayson Rodriguez and I have him a good salary, but it looks like he is going to be out for a bit and it is difficult to carry an unproductive roster spot in OPL. If someone is interested in investing in Grayson in the long term shoot me a trade offer. Preference is for a SS or SP.
-
And Matt Olson seems way past his prime. 3.65 p/g, and continuing on his downwards slope in power since late 2023.
-
My 8 man bench has brought me a heady 0.81 points per game. Staggeringly inept. I can get no hits in April like Brandon Marsh for half his guaranteed $3M salary.
-
added to it.....or subtracted....-37
-
The start of my leadership is -31 from Tanner Houck! Probably will not lead for long.
-
I also have an OPL team in 30th ("Cow Ripkens"). My OPL teams are doing better in OPL than in their respective leagues. I need to manage my lineups better.
-
OPL update: Geezer remains among the leaders at 15th out of 240. Roca has improved to 114th, but needs to keep going if he is to avoid the first cut.
-
Well, half my hitters decided that they needed a few weeks vacation after a hectic Spring Training. And their managers agreed, so they are not even in the line-ups. As in 2024, Encarnacion-Strand, who is seemingly made of glass, has demonstrated to be a very capable performer in ST. And that is about that. Sure, it is only half the month done, but I've fired people for better performances, and I cannot even give them a performance improvement plan.
-
Roca, Cool Papa and Hudson were the top teams last week. Roca's week was good enough to move him up to 1st overall, followed by Geezer and Hudson. The top hitters are JBO, Geezer and Roca. The top pitchers are Gtown, Roca and Cool Papa. The season is roughly 10% complete.
-
Hudson hit 200 yesterday!
-
Yesterday Beef had our first 200 point day of the year!
-
Ottoneu Prestige League update: For the newbies, this league is an across all OttoNeu leagues contest. To be eligible, you need to finish in the top half of a league that has existed for at least 3 years. It is limited to 240 entries. Geezer is a stud in this league. After the first week, he is 4th. Roca is also in the league, and he is 166th. After 8 weeks the 240 gets cut to 170 so Roca is currently right on the cut line.
-
Our first full week is in the books, and pitchers seem to have the advantage over hitters at this point. The top hitting teams are Geezer, JBO and Hickman (with Cool Papa also over 5/g). The top pitchers are JBO, Maple and GTown (with Portland and Roca also over 5/ip). The top 3 teams in the standings are Geezer, Hickman and Roca. Just a brief reminder to be sure to get your games in, both hitting and pitching. It is easy to get behind, and hard to catch up. Good luck this week!
-
My surreal state is that O'Hoppe, a catcher, has the most points, most points/g (11.0!) and most home runs run my lineup (5) - even more than Ramirez despite his three in one game. A catcher ...
-
I had an interesting occurence yesterday. Brian Reynolds went 0-5, one of which was an FC, and he was caught stealing, so a hitter scored -7.8. I have not seen that before.
-
Good start everyone! It was a short week so I won't comment much, except to say some teams are already catching the dreaded IL disease. Geezer has already started to rake!
-
Someone remind Gtown Hokas that they have not fielded a team for today!!!
-
The only reason I have ever felt remotely competitive has been an obsessive filling of lineup slots. Remember, managers of MLB teams are idiots. They still believe in matching lefties to righty pitchers, and righty hitters to either lefty or righty pitchers. They "platoon" their teams having lefty and righty hitters per position. So, an hour before start time, check your teams. You will suddenly have one or more players struck off the lineup based on pitching matches. I really hate tha

Geezer gives good advice!
Tomorrow is the REAL start to the season so be sure to get your lineups set.
-
Some advice for our new owners as the season starts-Be sure to hit your game (162) and innings (1500) caps. These are the lowest hanging fruit in Ottoneu. If you come up short you are just leaving points on the table. Once you fall too far behind it is very hard to catchup (with the exception of catcher). To hit your caps my advice is to set your lineups every day, preferably after lineups are announced. Also, you will sometimes have to play your less talented players to hit caps. Good luck.
-
Did you check with him that it was OK to let that out of the bag?
-
For the newbies, portland and hudson are brothers
-
Oh, come on. Please gripe at Portland!
-
This is not a gripe to Portland, just pointing out the process for the newbies. The platform will let you acquire a player, but then you need to get your roster legal. Once your roster is illegal, the platform prevents you from some actions until you drop players to get legal.
-
For everyone's information as an example, Portland picked up a player today at auction. He is now over roster (that is why his team is RED in the standings). He has 24 hrs from the time he turned RED (and you can see that the auction closed at 1830 ct/1630 pt). You should try to get legal ASAP, but if not legal after 24 hrs the Commish will autodrop your lowest salary (then lowest point is there is a tie) player that will make your roster legal.
-
Portland's Japanese pitching contingent were in the points.
-
And it did not take long for Geezer to hit the lead after his slow start. The question is, will he stay in front not for the next 160 games ...
-
Kansas Skers and JBO are newbies off to nice starts.
-
Day 2 is complete (don't worry, I won't send something every day, just weekly once we get going). Geezer has moved to the front. As the defending champion, it would be impressive if he led from now until the end of the season!....but also depressing.
-
Doesn't matter how you get the points. Nice to see the Hitters leading the field!
-
Day 1 is in the books and Hickman takes the lead based on two relief pitchers. Geezer, our power player, is right behind him. Most teams did not have players today.
-
The draft is finished. Don't forget to set lineups for the very early morning if you have Dodgers or Cubs on your team.
