The Regulators are Co-Managed by a couple of baseball fanatics in the Mid-Atlantic region. College friends turned young family men, it may take both of us at different times to get through a marathon draft without our wives killing us!! This is my second year of Ottoneu, 1st full draft. I took over a club last season and loved the format so much that I'm trying to convert my Co-Manager from our long standing other league where we both manage our own squad. Looking forward to the Season!

Hey guys, i'm a Chemist in Cincinnati. This is my 5th or 6th year of Ottoneu, but i was commish of a league for over 20 years before Covid killed that league. I was able to bring my Brother and one other former league mate over to this league, the Ruebel Thomas team. I've never been part of a first year draft in Ottoneu, so i'm really excited for Sunday.
-
Hey everyone, I'm a collectibles dealer in Florida and a Rays fan. This will be my fourth year playing Ottoneu and it has quickly become my favorite format. I have done at least one first year draft a year and I am really looking forward to this one!

For 10 tips. Go to community, then fantasy baseball, ottoneu basics, about 3/4 way down Ottoneu basics again, then click on 10 tips for otto rookies. There may be an easier way but I just stumbled on this while wandering around the site

I am a retired high school teacher, transplanted from upstate NY to south Florida. I've been in another fantasy league, CBS, with the same guys for nearly twenty years. Looking forward to the Ottoneu experience. PS, where did you get that article for rookies?

This will be my fifth year, I have 4 teams and love the ottoneu format. I'm a land surveyor who has always lived in Maine and can't wait for Saturday!

I just read the 10 things rookies should do to have a successful Ottoneu experience. One of the suggestions is to personally introduce yourself. So here goes. I am a retired physician from Kansas City who has a second home in Arizona. Very fantasy baseball tolerant wife. Been playing fantasy baseball since reading the original book by Okrent et al. Going to several Spring training games. Pickleball player. Failing at attempt to learn Chinese. Looking forward to process.

Unlocking teams due to this.

It'll be a marathon draft (6-8 hours) so we can take breaks every 2-3 hours. The most important thing which I have seen people take advantage of is if you don't nominate a player when it's your turn you get locked out. When it gets towards the end of the draft and people don't have much money left they skip their turn so they don't have to nominate a player they think they will be outbid on. This is my first time being a commish and I'm nervous about my draft and don't want to have to keep...
-
I am a rookie to Ottoneu but have played fantasy for many years usually AL only but trying to brush up on NL. Looking forward to auction. I am assuming the auction action will be fairly fast and require continuous close attention. How is the commissioner going to handle breaks?

i've been on ottoneu for 5 years or so now. i've added a team a year or so, as i've enjoyed the format very much. but this will be my first draft from a leagues beginning, so something new for me here too, i've only ever claimed old teams. im looking forward to all this, glgl.
-
This is year 4 for me. Ottoneu is my favorite platform that I have played on, hopefully you will have the same experience. Biggest adjustment for me was understanding the nuances of the salary cap, particularly after cutting players and how you can put them up for auction and cut again to gain cap space. Also, tie bids go to the lower ranked team, pissed me off the first couple times I lost a player when I nominated them after bidding the same amount as the team that won the auction.
-
This is my first time on Ottoneu, but have been in a different dynasty league for two years and fantasy for much longer. Looking forward to competing with everyone!
-
This is about my 5th or 6th year playing Ottoneu, but i've been playing Fantasy for a little over 20 years. I know of at least one more newbie to Ottoneu. If you've played fantasy sports at all before, you'll be fine. The biggest adjustment for me was the $400 budget for the year. The other leagues i had done had a draft salary and an FAAB budget. Ottoneu is a fun format, you'll be fine!
-
OK, so I see that we now have 12 teams again. Question, how many of you are rookies like me? I've never played Ottoneu before, this will obviously be my first time drafting in this format. Are there any other rookies here? I feel that if I am the only one then I might be at a distinct disadvantage. It would be nice to know the level of play(rookie, one year, two years, etc?) from each of you. Thanks
-
OK, checked out the draft room, looks typical, so should not be a problem. I'll check out the you tube later. Thanks for all the advice.
-
the draft room is open. it's the auction draft tab. that is the draft room. there are not really any bells or whistles, its mostly text based and not graphic intensive. you can add players to your watch list 2 ways, add them to your team page watch list and then click import that list into the draft room. or just add them individually in the draft room by starring their names in find players search.
-
Our auction site is now closed. How long before the actual auction will the site be open so we can start to add players on the watch list.

I did my first ottoneu draft last year "blind". If you've ever done an auction on any other major website, it'll be pretty intuitive. I just signed on a little early on draft day to familiarize myself with the layout.
-
If you click the "Auction Draft" tab on top of the League home page it brings you into the draft lobby so you can at least see the layout and get a feel for it. Not sure of a way to mock.
-
As a rookie Ottoneu player, I'd like to test the draft software. Any way to do a mock draft? It would be nice to have some knowledge of how the draft is going to work, what will it look like, etc. Anyone have any advice for me? Thanks
-
As a rookie I am trying to figure out the rules. Niv just told me that the position eligibilty rules for the 2021 season were unique in that a player would be eligible for a position if they were eligible for that position for the 2020 season based on 2019 stats and also if they were eligible using 2020 stats.

Keeping it early works much better for me, thanks for coordinating Flags
-
Ok, so Zod left anyways but I think we should just keep the 8:00 start time. Looking forward to it!
-
Just noted march 14th is Daylight savings time switch date.

So we have locked in the 14th for the draft! What do you guys think about starting at 8 am pst to give Zod an extra hour of draft time? He's a great competitor and it would suck to lose him from the league.
-
Ok
-
Good here π

Works for me too. Assume the plan is to knock it all out in one day then?

How does March 14th at 9 am Pacific sound for the draft? Late February/Early March didn't work for a couple owners and no one has said they had an issue with the 14th. I'd like to hear from everyone to make sure you are good with it.
-
There are 2 C spots and you can play them at the same time but there is also a 162 game cap so once you reach the cap you wonβt accumulate any more stats for the C position.
-
I've never played Ottoneu before, other fantasy baseball leagues for years. I have questions about the unique rules to this format. I thought I'd ask one at a time, and hopefully one of you can clarify things for me. I read about two catchers, even though we only use one catcher. Do we have two catchers in our line up, but only one counts stats? How does that work?
-
Evenings after 7 eastern standard time are best for me in order to have undivided attention.
-
I have drafts on March 13, 19 and 21. Prefer to avoid 3/20 if possible given the other drafts bookending that weekend, but pretty flexible otherwise. Iβd be in favor of spreading it over 2 days. Also would love an evening draft if workable for others, but Iβll adjust to whatever we go with. Looking forward to this one!
-
I canβt do March 16-21 but Iβm good with either single day or multi day.

Here are the dates that I cannot draft as of now: March 4-9, March 21. A late February/Early March draft is fine with me. I am fine doing one long draft day, I have done a couple Ottoneu first year drafts that way and they usually take around 7 hours.
