Hello all, I just picked up a new team how do I pay for 2022 to start making transactions for this year and solidify myself as honest broker in the league.
-
***NOTE TO ANYONE CLAIMING THE ABANDONED TEAMS - YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR 2022 BEFORE MAKING ANY TRANSACTIONS THIS YEAR.***
-
Also fine by me. Thanks!
-
This is fine with me. Please explain what happens when their teams are abandoned. Are their rosters frozen until we get new owners? Do their teams continue to accrue stats which may affect others. I assume that their non- playing has already affected the standings. Thanks for being on top of this. I think its important for people to play to the end. Even the Orioles have to put a lineup out everyday.

I agree, make sure they are committed for next season.
-
Same here, thanks commish
-
Agreed....Sounds good to me!
-
Alright everyone, we have 2 teams that haven't logged in in almost 2 months. I reached out to them today and both gave me permission to abandon their teams. I would like to have the new owners pay for the 2022 season prior to making any moves. What are your thoughts?
-
Hey all, i'm throwing in the towel on this year. My trade block has been updated. I'm looking for cheap talent for next year. I've got several guys that could help a lot of the teams at the top of the standings. Not giving these guys away, but open to talks!
-
Good deal, didn't realize thats how it worked. Thanks
-
You free up half the cap when you cut them, the other half if they are picked up by someone else (whether via waiver claim or auction). Blackmon and Moore have already been put up for auction, so they are guaranteed to be signed by someone tomorrow morning.
-
Is that how it works? I thought you only gained more cap space if they were claimed off waivers? If they are auctioned I think you only receive the half of their salary that you got when you cut them.
-
Yes - Blackmon and Moore represent a combined $12 of cap space you’ll be freeing up on Monday morning, so that will take you under your cap
-
Thanks, My concern was also that on my league page, or my team page, my guys never appeared on the waiver wire. But I guess everyone else saw it. So, no one made a claim, but they're up for auction. Can you tell me if once they are bid on and accepted, will I be under $400? Thanks

GC is right, nobody outright claimed your cuts but 2 guys are up for auction. I don’t think there is a specific rule about how long you can be over the cap but the price you pay is you can’t do anything roster related besides cutting another player until you’re under.
-
None of your guys were claimed but looks like Blackmon and Moore just got put up for auction after passing through waivers. In theory you could wait another 48 hours and then your roster will be legal after these auctions are complete. But I’ll defer to the commish on how long a roster can be over cap, I’m not sure what the rule is.
-
so I guess I screwed up. I claimed Springer for $29, and cut three guys which, when they get claimed, as I'm sure they will, will put me under $400. But since I'm still over $400 my cuts aren't going through, so no one can claim them yet. Since I'm at $409, I'm going to have to cut an $18 player to finalize this transaction. Is all this correct?

yes to all your questions. it's to allow for better platooning of catchers, but the game is still one catcher 162 games. it's just a little wrinkle. i sometimes use it to run up a better stock of games played if i feel i got two guys on a hot streak, too.
-
How does the two catcher thing work? Are they both accumulating stats and starts? And if so, is the catcher spot limited to 162 games like all other positions? And if so, can we play one catcher at a time, and leave one spot open?

Best day of the year!
-
It's finally here, happy opening day everyone!
-
Once the season begins there are stats that show you what kind of pace you're on, I believe on the league scoring page
-
Both accrue totals until you reach your max games limit. So if you heavily prefer one, I would spot start the other keeping a pace that will achieve your max starts.
-
Maybe a dumb question at this point in the game, but figure its worth asking prior to opening day... How does scoring for Catchers work again? Do both Catchers slots accrue totals?
-
If you started the auction, the best you can do is bring it to 1. If you didn't start it, click bid and then on the right hand side under "your bid", change it to 0.
-
I'm trying to cancel an auction bid that I made. It says to click 'edit' and enter a $0 bid to cancel. I don't see 'edit' anywhere.

*the "bid" button is to the right, not left.... Whiskey
-
If you click on "bid" to the left of the current auctions you can adjust any bids you want on the players currently being auctioned. You are correct that if you bid $100 and the next highest bid is $7, you would win the auction and that player would be added to your roster for $8. Hope that helps.
-
Questions, if i start an auction on a player, he starts at $1. What if I want to bid more? Do I change the start bid, or do I put in a later bid like anyone else? Also, just want to check....if I bid $100 and the next highest bid is $7, then I get that player for $8, correct? You only get one bid and you don't know what anyone else has bid, correct?

I'm also good communicating through the website, usually check it daily get all offers, auctions, etc. sent to my e-mail
-
I've always just used the website but I'm open to alternatives as well.
-
Anybody that wants to contact me can do so through the website. I'll definitely see it.
-
I'm in other leagues that use Slack to have trade talks and have other league discussions. Is that something we would want to look into? If folks don't want to share their emails.
-
Do you think it's a good idea to exchange emails, or are we going to run everything thru the web site?

On this league page, click on "Auction Draft" on the second bar running across the top
-
I'm dumb. How do I get into the auction page?
-
Buffalo Trace is my go to but I really enjoy all of Michter's selections as well as many others...ha
-
Maker's Mark and Irish Whiskey (Tullamore Dew) for me!
-
I would encourage all those who draft at 10 or 11AM to start drinking to equalize their level of consciousness to that of those of us who start at 8 Am.

I vote for all of you to pour yourselves many Bourbon's on Sunday! I'd suggest starting an hour or two before the draft and not stopping until the final pick is made!!! I agree with Pit Viper though, great to see the interaction already! I'm in another league that has a League Slack, that has really helped everyone stay connected as well. Curious if anyone would be interested in doing that as well.

I have to thank Wobbles, we haven't even drafted yet and this is my favorite league! Its great to know a bit more about everyone. I hope we keep this going for a while, currently pouring a glass of bourbon and cheers to this league!

4th year Ottoneu player, 3rd startup draft, and 1st time commish. I am a logistics manager located in Reno.
Shoutout to my very tolerant wife for putting up with my fantasy baseball addiction.

The Artful Dodgers are led by a software developer from New Orleans. Avid jazz and baseball fan ( imagine that- a baseball fan in the deep south?) Been doing fantasy sports over 20 years. Second year in Ottoneu. Finished in 2nd place in my initial year. Can't wait for the draft!
