No Urbina. Weee good man. I was just concerned that my roster would become invalid and I would have to cut to be valid. It all worked out since I’m over 40 players. No action needed
-
Not sure I want to set the precedent of editing a competed trade, but I can confirm that the $1/roster spot rule only applies to first 40 roster spots, so your roster is legal. If you are still mutually interested in adding an extra dollar of cap room to that trade, the easiest way to do that would be for PB to send AHWT a dollar loan via an empty trade (i.e., without any players included).
-
If it does happen maybe DJIB or Urbina can just remove a 1 dollar cap penalty from a player i cut who sucks that no one wants since i screwed up.
-
Also good point, Dan. You might be right about that!
-
Thanks Joe! I honestly just don't know and it didn't occur to me lol.
-
I didn't think about that either, sorry. Very okay with you having a dollar.
-
I'm pretty sure as long as you have a $1 to cover up to 40 roster spots, you're cool. Additional roster spots don't require you to have money to cover them because they can go away at any time (like the day someone is activated off the 60 day IL).
-
Does anyone know if my roster will be invalid after the PB and AHWT trade? I didn't ask for a dollar, didn't even think about it. Was just curious. My roster sitch after this trade will be 43 of 44 spots filled and 415 out of 415 dollars used. Does that invalid rule only apply up to 40? If this is a problem and I forgot to ask PB to cover that error, can the commish adjust, pending it's ok from PBs perspective to give me a precious dollar.?
-
Josh Naylor seems legit unhinged. Like if Nic Cage could hit a curveball.
-
Cleveland just traded for Sandy Leon, so maybe pump the brakes a bit, buckaroo. Side note: I watched the Naylor walk-off in my neighbor's garage last night -- surprisingly good year to be a Cleveland baseball fan.
-
Of course, both Guy and Ernesto share an affinity for sliders.
-
All correct. And "just a guy" is a common disparagement for easily replaceable players... Rio Ruiz. Sandy Leon. Adam Plutko. Maybe previous management.
-
SGRE is the team name whisperer
-
The saga of Ugueth Urbina's farmhands is truly wild. DJiB is clearly a reference to one of the best arcs on Arrested Development.
-
Honestly I’m not sure I understand anyones team name except SGRE and TTBNL. If anyone you want tell me I’m genuinely interested haha
-
Ernesto Frieri is my best guess. Which, if that’s right, is a super deep cut
-
Wait, isn't it Guy Fieri? Is there a pun I can't figure out?
-
Welcome to Flavortown, bitches!
-
All that decorum will go out the window if JAGF ever cuts their roster down to 11 players, which was another one of my favorite morsels.
-
Just read through that 1006 drama. Wowzers. Thank you all for having a higher level of decorum than the owners in that league.
-
Welcome to the league Morgan! Glad to have you.
-
Wow. can't believe someone got kicked out before I did. Really takes the pressure off.
-
Just to remind everybody, the players Guy Fieri just cut with his round of penalty-free cuts bypass waivers and are added to the player pool at $0. If you want any of them, you can start an auction whenever.
-
Sucks that the last owner was unpleasant, but it seems to leave me some nicer pieces than usual. Incidentally, I was curious about the team in 1006 when it opened up and so had already read through their board - worth a good chuckle but not particularly inspiring how they reached that point. I did not attempt to join...
-
Just read the 1006 board. Anybody want $40 from me via Venmo?
-
The fact that your team has had three owners this season and is actually doing pretty well is a good sign. Welcome!
-
Hi all, I'm Morgan, the new owner. Happy to join you all and kick off a flurry of activity reshaping the squad.
-
Thanks for the recommendation, AHWT. That was a great read and it makes me all the more confident that being proactive was the correct decision.
-
Hello everyone, we've just sourced a replacement owner for 5Tooler's team. Hopefully we can now safely put the drama behind ourselves and enjoy what's left of the season in a respectful manner. Thanks to everyone who expressed support. While it has been annoying to have to deal with this mid-season, I am confident this is the best move for the health of the league.
-
Message boards in 1006. It’s like one of the most dramatic things I’ve ever seen Lolol
-
Thanks, Urbina. I agree there’s no place for the jabs and arguing and I’m sure many of you were versed in his agressivly bad trade offers and rudeness when you didn’t want to accept giving up Fernando tatis for Pablo Lopez 10 times over. I was reading on slack today about league 1006 where they had a similar situation with an owner although much much worse and they waited to long to kick him out so nice move on the swift action. On a side note I would encourage you guys to read through the

will be keen to take over his roster. Considering the time difference, I will send those feelers out tomorrow morning Sydney time. If anyone has someone in mind they would like to claim the team, please let me know. Otherwise, we will go with the first suitable replacement owner we can source from Slack or the Otto Community message boards.
-
This is not a prize league and his team was prepaid, so there is no reason for him to take the Scherzer trade so personally. Still, his refusal to let it go makes it clear that he cannot be trusted to participate respectfully, so he is no longer welcome in this league. I will reach out to some owners on Slack who I consulted when he first claimed the league. I'm sure they will appreciate the update and considering the team is still free, I am confident there will be plenty of candidates who

Hi everyone, I have made the difficult decision to remove 5Tooler from the league. For anyone who is unaware, this user is somewhat famous in the OttoNeu community because he was kicked off the Slack channel for repeatedly violating community guidelines with trolling, needless antagonism, and ad hominem attacks. However, those who have played with him told me he is usually better behaved in leagues than on Slack. For this reason, DJIB and I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt.
-
I was very clear that the matter is now behind us. If you can't be respectful to your fellow owners, you are no longer welcome in this league. Goodbye, 5Tooler.
-
Duran optioned and Max coming. What a deal.
-
You're entitled to your opinion but the only ones that matter are the two parties involved in the deal. You've heard from both sides now, and there is clearly a logic to it. Whether you approve of that logic is immaterial. It's over and we're moving on now.
-
Well, the Mets are paying Scherzer $43M per for the next 3 years. The 2023 season isn’t really the issue, the getting him for virtually free for the rest of 2022 is. Both those trades are terrible, but people can play as they want, I guess. Little early to be destroying any semblance of competitive balance, but do as you will.
-
Scherzer is two years older than Michael Brantley, if you want to put that in perspective. He'll be 38 in a month. We've been spoiled a bit by Verlander but I can't imagine many would be willing to bet on a 38/39 year old pitcher for the 2023 season. I certainly wouldn't.
-
I can certainly appreciate the perspective of those who view trade as one sided, but the fact that DJIB is a commissioner had nothing to do with the trade. My team has underperformed miserably and Scherzer is worthless to me rest of year and, given age and price, not likely a keeper. Also given his age, return to ace form is not assured and I derisked.
-
Ezequiel Duran is a nice keeper and Scherzer isn't exactly easy to move right now. I didn't have a problem at all with the trade.

It's an arms race. I know Twosies is out there trying to deal Trout and I couldn't afford his asking price so I took a different approach. I will not be able to afford either guy this winter, so both owners know that they'll get a shot to reacquire in the off season. I hope this kicks off trade season and that Trout is the next domino to fall.
-
Lol same
-
On a personal note when Scherzer went I was like ohhhh bummer I should’ve made an offer too! Lol
-
While I am in agreement that both those deals seem somewhat one sided, it’s also completely up to the team owners to decide their preferences. While we have the power collectively veto or approve I can attest that DJIB, Micks and JBE are good and rational owners and while we may not like it up for the teams in the deal to decide what they think is right and talk about what players they like.
-
What are we doing here? Why is our commish getting top 30 players and cash for middling prospects, not even halfway through the season? Someone explain what I’m missing.
-
I agree, but as a Sale owner I can attest to how a pitcher's timetable to return can quickly crumble. Micks likely could have gotten much more if he waited until he was healthy, but I understand the motivation to take a bird in hand rather than gambling on an immediate return to acedom. If anyone disapproves of the trade, I invite you to vote to veto. But unless there's evidence of collusion, I see no reason it should be overturned.
-
Return seems more than a little light for Max.
-
If anyone has interest in taking on Walker Buehler let me know. Shut down with an elbow strain 6-8 weeks. I haven’t read anything about TJ but obviously understand the risks associated with a pitchers elbow. If you want him let me know. I’m still hoping to compete this year.
-
Be gone, Yoan! You have sufficiently tormented me this year.
