Until Fister gets his SwStr% over 8%, his value is going to be almost entirely determined by home runs though. I'd like to see some sustainable strikeout stuff first.

Wow, Homersapiens owns Fister for $1, nice value!
-
Worth noting, all three of them are fly ball heavy pitchers. So, the BABIP should be lower than average due to a heavy fly ball profile.

among pitchers with > 140 IP, only two others are in that BABIP neighborhood: Beckett at .236 and Verlander at .238.
-
Yeah, I was very surprised to see that his ERA is now under 3, despite posting much worse K/9 and BB/9 rates than he did throughout the minors.
-
Hellickson has been pitching like that all year--.237 BABIP, ERA is 1.21 points better than his FIP
-
Yeah, he had a 6-run lead through 3, so his approach might have changed a little. A very efficient 97 pitches on the day.
-
Pitching to contact? Pulling a Buehrle?

Interesting game for Hellickson today. CG, 4 H, 1 ER (HR), 0 BB, 1 K. Second career CG, both against the O's.
-
Gordon is the perfect example of this. But, Alex Avila at $1 takes the cake. Putting up those kinds of numbers at C for $1 is simply outstanding.

Alex Gordon? BABIP looks a tad high but: 13th in total points among all hitters, 2nd-best 3B, 7th-best OF, $5
-
Who's been the most quietly effective player on each of your teams? I nominate Jim Johnson ($1). He's been good for 6.3 FP/IP this year and has contributed 76.2 IP out of an SP slot.
-
Wow my lineup went off for 97.6 pts yesterday with another 65.1 (including Josh Reddick's 25) on the bench.

Won an important H2H matchup for me that is in our ESPN points league. I'm sure that White Sox-Mariners tilt was important to some as well...
-
Danks basically won an important matchup last week with that 10-K SO of the Mariners. So if I was a little exuberant in my bidding, that's why...
-
Wandy over his career has scored a lot better in this format, so I'm surprised I got him for 9 given Danks went for 8. thought Wandy would go for at least 11-12.

yeah, I guess we agree, sorry

I got a free 1year sub to ESPN-mag once, it was amusing, but it definitely caters to the mainstream fan, which I am very, very far from being.

Also, I don't think ESPN insider is all that valuable, but for $1 a year, totally worth it. The mag, which is also bad, has this article written by an anonymous athlete about some typically scandalous topic (sex, guns, drugs, race), so that is pretty fun.

I wouldn't say that I love Klaw or Goldstein's work, but you know other people are reading it, so it certainly has value.

To be honest, I can't stand BP (and told Eno Sarris as much tonight!), but I really enjoy Goldstein's work. I basically only read his stuff at BP. I also enjoy Law, and think he might have a better eye for upside, but he isn't as prolific.

The espn thing is a once a year promotion. Keith Law always tweets it out, and it usually happens in Nov/Dec. I'll let you know if I see it.

Also: Kimbrel has scored a ridiculous 9.93 points per inning pitched on the season. The average Kimbrel inning is an extra 4.93 points over a standard "inning". That's just ridiculous.

Joe, where do you find this $1/year ESPN the Mag & Insider deal? That is way cheaper than anything I've seen.
