Well, you'd have to consider IP as well, and reward a pitcher for getting there with more IP.

The upside to this format is you only end up using 2 stats for hitters, still not sure on how pitchers would work

So you get assigned roto points based on where you are in offense/defense/pitching, and the winner is the best roto score
Quasi Muto on

Each category is points based, since more batting runs is better, but each category is a roto category

How many of you guys would be up for my theoretical "WAR league" idea? Basics are: Roto league using WAR based stats to determine offense/defense/pitching points

In each of the past two years, ESPN has run a promo on the magazine, offering it at $1 for a year. As this current promo is an "insider" promo, I find myself wondering if they will also have a magazine offer.

Actually, let me revise this. My insider access comes through my subscription to the magazine.

Guess I didn't weigh in on this before, but I'm also OK with a small buy-in. $10 or so would seem reasonable. However, I'm not sure I'd make it a requirement, except to be eligible to receive a payout.

The attack on DIPS theory seemed unnecessary to me. I like the FIP family because it beats generic ERA, not because I think the only things a pitcher can control are Ks, BBs and HRs.
Quasi Muto on

I saw nothing I hadn't already expected, really. I like FIP, but I still believe that pitchers can control quality of contact despite using the DIPS based stats.
