So I'm optimistic that we might get Jacob to come back, which would be awesome because he's super active and very knowledgeable. Hope to confirm soon.

If anyone sent me trades and I never responded but you are still interested in a potential deal feel free to reopen negotiations. I'll try to be available on the trade front for the next week or 2.
-
Hey all, Sorry to be MIA over the last couple months. Going through fund raising at my company, which means the rest of my life evaporates.
-
Haha. I don't mean intelligence either, but it would be good if they had at least a basic fluency advanced metrics and player valuation. And you're right that availability and activity is probably first priority.

Yeah, I mean I don't really care about intelligence level nearly as much as availability and active interest in Ottoneu
-
That's a good idea. They could at least be tweeting or posting about baseball in an intelligent way. Failing that, you could also post a couple of questions to them. Ask them to evaluate a trade or two to see how they think, how informed they are.

I feel like we could probably screen for new owners pretty effectively via twitter... like someone who tweets a lot about ottoneu is pretty likely to be a good leaguemate. i dunno
-
I'll follow up shortly about draft time and date.

Thanks to everyone for getting back to me via the survey. Two teams need new owners: Hot Mother and Awkward. I have one guy set to step in, but if you know another, please let me know.

I've never used CBS, sorry. If you figure it out, I'd be curious to hear about how close you can get the rules.

...$150 for it. I know there's a ton of customization, but I'm not sure, for example, whether it can bar a mgr who drops a player from reacquiring him w/in 30 days. Stuff like that.

Hmmm. Interesting. I'd like to replicate the ottoneu rule set for the most part, but it's not clear to what degree CBS will support the more nuanced rules. Either of you have experience with the CBS platform? This is our first year on it. We're paying

One thing to note about the penalty is that after 30 days you are allowed to reacquire the player through the auction, and cut him again, thereby reducing penalty another 50%.

Just an extra disincentive not to spend too much money on a guy. Also keeps you from streaming cheapo players

sure I have a full understanding of all the reasons one might adopt such a rule. The abuses it prevents, The incentives it corrects, etc. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hey guys, can you explain to me what the reasoning is for the salary cap penalty for dropping players. Another league I commish for is transitioning to auction drafts and overhauling its constitution, and I'm considering the drop penalty. I want to make

In order to run an auction, you have to upgrade to a premium account at MDC. And I doubt there are enough premium users online at any give time to make that worthwhile.

I'm looking to practice for an auction roto league, not for this one. Fairly confident that I won't be able to find a mock points draft anything like ottoneu. Any ideas?

Yeah. Unless you're looking to practice for a redraft roto league (maybe some kind of basic points format too) I don't think practice drafts will be too helpful

I really doubt you'll be able to find anything that approximates this

The $1 per open spot is a critical wrinkle in the game. The drafting software is smart enough to know when you're trying to violate this rule, and will stop you from doing so.

and you need at least $1 of cap room for every spare roster slot

Good to know, SI. Just to put this out there, I've sent 2+ emails to all managers over the last month or so. If you haven't received ottoneu system emails in the last few weeks, you might wanna check your spam folder and adjust your filters.

Ligers, no I didn't. I see an older message from Mendoza though. Looks like gmail was filtering my Ottoneu emails to the spam folder. I've got a filter set up now to fix that, so sorry for any messages I've ignored in the past!
