Also welcome to the Wang top 30 OF Colby Rasmus. Surprised no one else put a claim on him
-
It just seemed like the data provider wasn't updating for me. Did something crazier than that happen?
-
I'll follow up with these owners. Did anyone else notice the crazy point totals earlier today?

Anyway, has anyone heard anything out of So What? lately? Been a couple months for me
-
I guess the team he inherited (Goldschmidt, Bumgarner, Kipnis, Seager, Teheran, etc.) was just that good
-
i'm also really surprised that Pinkerton Thugs is still in third place. Dude's been starting Joel Hanrahan and Zach Britton for like three months
-
yeah, good value at $46 going into next year
-
Kind of surprised only 3 people put bids in on Braun.

Unrelated: Is it weird that I feel a small amount of joy at unfriending my soon to be ex wife on facebook? Somehow it seemed appropriate when she changed her relationship status to "in a relationship", with a guy that isn't me.
-
I'd like to think there's a middle ground between zero tolerance and zero intolerance. It means somebody must make a judgment call, though, on whether an owner is making an effort to roster MLB players in each of 22 slots.
-
I'm not totally against that (although, that's not my preference), but what are consequences for these types of violations?

So many conversations happening at once! To be clear, some owners are saying that they feel the roster rules should be strictly enforced? As in, you must have 5 active RP on your roster?

And there are always ways to manage the cap.
-
I don't agree at all. The bid system, I've found, is pretty simple. Not fond, actually, of the "addition by subtraction" strategy, to be honest.
-
looks like the new owner is here!

b/c $$ restrictions are way more severe in Ottoneu than in MLB and the end-of-roster guys you'd end up having to cut are generally much less fungible than end-of-roster MLB talent
-
Also I don't really think the MLB team-Ottoneu team parallel really holds water--considerably easier for an MLB team to scrounge up a warm body or two to fill a hole than it is for an Ottoneu team
-
I guess the distinction I'd draw would be between legitimate strategic choices and just not giving a crap. Generally seems easy enough to see which of the two is going on, and if there's some ambiguity owners can be asked to explain their decisions
-
If you're right up against the cap and three of your RPs go on the DL with short-term injuries in a five-day span I don't think you should have to scramble to get warm bodies into your lineup.
-
Sometimes it's a viable strategy to not have guys in particular lineup slots too, even for contending teams.
-
Yeah, true. Unless someone is like spamming you with ridiculous offers it really doesn't seem like too much to ask for owners to respond somewhat promptly, if only to say "no, thanks"
-
But there's a large fundamental difference between saying "Thanks, but I'm not interested in dealing ", and ignoring any and all messages received.

I think the communication thing is a bit extreme. Some owners just don't like to trade. I don't get it, but that's not for me to decide. I do, however, think that the "ghost ship" teams with DL or minor league players in the lineup should be penalized.
The Evil Guys on

I'm cool with the communication thing, but my personal preference would be (with exceptions for extenuating circumstances, of course) to shrink the timeframe to like 3 or 4 weeks
-
I think the cap hit thing is likely to further antagonize/alienate owners who weren't that into it to begin with, and make their teams less appealing if we're looking for replacement owners
-
Not saying we should go that route, just throwing an idea out there.

And if he wants to get rid of the cap hit, he has to beg for forgiveness.

Not communicating for a month = $10 cap penalty? IE, you forcibly put a player onto someone's roster for $20, then cut said player for him.

For rule violations, I'm not sure what to say. I have no enforcement tools, outside of roster editing (very extreme penalty, in my eyes) and owner replacement (even more extreme!). We could agree on a policy, but enforcement is not guaranteed.
Plakata on

We could have this be a league policy, and inform all new owners. That way, when problems arise, we can point to the policy; owners will know the policy, and make efforts to avoid violation.
