Love it. Danimal was hilarious. I miss him too
-
You fuckfaces ready for the draft!?! Don’t try to pull any of that liberal bullshit and keep raising the price on Harper......sorry, sorry, just trying to channel my inner Danimal! How’d I do? Seriously though, I pumped for the draft!
-
I miss Danimal

@Bryce4Life Yes the Danimal has left us. He told me Ottoneu was a bit more than he was anticipating. Props to him for having that kind of awareness and leaving while we could still replace him. In other news, it sounds like we're leaning towards the one-day "draft-a-thon"! At this point, that's what I'd plan on doing.
-
Welcome, Arthur! And I vote for the 6.5-hour option.
-
Let’s punch that time card and put in an 8 hour day and get this thing done all at once! Also, did Danimal leave the league?
-
Hi all. New member here. My name is Arthur. I'm from Moline, IL which puts me closer to the cows of Iowa than the bustle of Chicago (no cows here though). I'm a teacher during the day and an Atlanta Braves fan at all points of the day. Only thing my grumpy grandpa and I agreed on was watching the Braves when I was young. Looking forward to my first year of this format! Thanks for having me.
-
I vote to complete the draft. 6.5 hours.

Yeah, it'll be happening on March 9th, that won't change and the start time won't change. The question at hand is this, do we stop it early or not? For those unfamiliar, the Free Agent process is different in Ottoneu. You don't just add players, you have to nominate them for auction, and everyone see who you nominated. Then every team has 48 hrs to submit their bid (if they want); the highest bidder wins the player. BUT the highest bidder wins the player at $1 more than the second highest bid.
-
Yeah I work at an aquarium and already got the day off, so I vote that day as well

I have a two year and have confirmed with the w.i.f.e that I can have that Saturday off from dad duties, but I won't be as lucky to get evenings off during the week.
-
Solutions are only for Problems. Lets knock it out in 6.5 hours and that will give Diamond Girl The rest of the afternoon to hang out with someone other than her husband and two sons.

So my weekends are very valuable and so my suggestion is that I would rather do this over two evenings than waste a Saturday. I am your mother and so you have to listen to me................worth a shot.

Here's my suggested solution. We don't need to fill everyone's roster during the draft, and we can use the Free Agent Auction system to help us fill out our rosters. (Apparently, this is a common practice in Veteran Ottoneu leagues). I propose to set a hard stop at 4hrs and 30 minutes. We'll draft for 60 mins, take a 10 min break, and repeat. Then when 12:30p (MST) rolls around, we end the draft and use the free agent system to do the rest.
-
I've got an answer to how long the draft will take. The most accurate over/under is at 7 hrs (+/- 1 hr). Why so long? Auctions tend to be longer, and we have to auction off 480 players. Some brand new leagues finish under 6 hours, while others take 8+ and split the draft over two days. That said, we can make adjustments to help us not spend our whole day drafting. I love draft day, but I want to keep enjoying it, and 8 hours of drafting is borderline work! To be continued. . .
-
@Danimal No, you don't.
-
$100 on Bryce, $150 on Trout and I’ll still have $150 to spend on the rest of the roster! Don’t research too hard, I cleared my day. Draft day is like Christmas Day! 🎁
-
@Bryce4Life Pretty sure you're just going to draft Bryce for $100 and be done with it, so for you, like 5 minutes! Let me do some research and get back to you.
-
What’s the over/under on how long this thing will take?
-
You think we've got it bad? Those poor Pacific time players! Unfortunately, no, the draft is not going to change. It's going to be in a little over a week and at (10a EST, 8a MST, 7a PST, and whatever time it'll be in London, 3p?).
-
Is the draft time going to change? Because right now, it's set for 10 AM EST on a Saturday. Feels pretty early for y'all Mountain Timers.

Geeze Dan! We're a league full of baseball nerds! You're going to scare off some of us Poindexters with that kind of talk! 🤓🤭

Hi, I'm Mike and I'm from the Motor city. I'm stoked to be in this league and from what I'm reading, we have some fun team owners. I'm also stoked that Jack Morris was accepted into the HOF. He was the ace on 3 separate AS winning teams, threw an all time game 7 10 inning AS winning game and had a no hitter to boot (back in the day when no hitters were much rarer). Not a stat hound, rather just a big game inning eater.
Anyhow, looking forward to this...

There is a video on YouTube made by a league that did their draft recently. It's worth taking 30 seconds to see how the draft will work.
Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mgj1ySVNYc
The draft doesn't start until the 8-minute mark, and it's an established league, so it isn't their first-year draft.

One could argue it was Mitch Williams who REALLY ruined your adolescence... in any case, giving you Halladay for next-to-nothing surely makes up for it!!!
-
I have to say it once...Fuck Joe Carter! That dude ruined my adolescence. 😆
-
Hey! I'm Jason, and I suspect I'll be your token Canuck. It's good to be in the presence of so many fellow "Larry Walker for Cooperstown 2020" lobbyists (call it a hunch) -- as well as another Flyers fan (long story). I grew up near Toronto just as the Jays got good, but then moved to the U.K. in 2000. I now live just outside London with my missus and our two-year-old son Carter (yes, named after THAT Carter... obviously). Excited about getting my head around Ottoneu... bring on the se

I'm Scott. I'm from Boston. I prefer the Red Sox to all the other teams but I also cheer for the Rockies because I like a nice offensive environment. I'm a huge believer in Ryan McMahon and will be overpaying for Charlie Blackmon in the upcoming auction. I love fantasy baseball but this is my first time doing it on Ottoneu. I have a pet turtle.

I’m Eric and have also married into a baseball family. This is my first year playing fantasy baseball. I hail from Timnath, CO and root for our home team, the Rockies. I manage an oilfield equipment rental business in Greeley, CO.
-
Don’t worry Adam. Most of us Rockies fans in the league have been on the same fantasy league for several years and trust me everyone will be the a**hole of the league at some point. We are all pretty fun and even though we take our baseball seriously we stay humble, we are Rockies fans after all. Welcome, it will be fun to try something new.

What’s up everyone! I’m Adam from New Jersey. (South Jersey shore area) I’m married with 2 young daughters. I own a blueberry nursery/farm. I’m a diehard Philadelphia sports fan, which makes me the default a**hole of the group I guess. I’m a huge baseball nerd and am looking forward to diving into my first Ottoneu league.

Hi I Richelle and I am a baseballholic. I have two dogs named Tulo and Jeter. I am the mother of the commish and Walk Off, the sister of another member and the wife of another. I am a District Director of a Long Term Care Company and need to RETIRE SOON so I can enjoy some day baseball games. I am more of a fan of certain players than a particular team but I do love the ROCKIES just not their owners. Baseball is a thinking mans sport some will never understand.

Hi! my name is Geoff and i am living in Centennial, CO. My brother is the commissioner which make it even more rewarding when I have a better team then he does. I work in the Water and Wastewater industry. I loved playing baseball and am convinced that if more people had the attention span to watch a baseball game this world would be a better place. Go Rockies

I love that you married into a baseball family! That's awesome! Interestingly enough, you joined a league comprised of a "family of baseball fanatics"! Good news is, you know how to deal with such a thing. Glad to have you!
-
Hi! My name is Steven and I live in Milwaukee. In a past life I worked as a digital producer in the ad world, but I am now a stay at home dad with a side gig here and there. I married in to a family of baseball fanatics (Brewers), and my 3 brother-in-laws got me into fantasy last year when a spot opened up in their NL-only dynasty league. I don't have a hometown team, so I'm kind of polyamorous when it comes to baseball. I reserve the right to like all the teams ;) Big fan of Arenado.
-
My name is Tyler, I'm the commissioner of the league, and I'm hailing from around Denver, CO. I'm an accountant for a FinTech (financial technology) company, and for better or worse I root for the hometown Colorado Rockies!

Hi everyone! Welcome to our first year of Ottoneu baseball! Woot!
To start, and to make sure everyone at least knows how to use the message board, I'm asking everyone to do a brief introduction:
- Name and whereabout in the country/world you are?
- General description of what you do?
- Favorite baseball team?
- Anything else you'd like to add (optional)
