I propose Sunday 2/28
-
Was there pushback against a 3/14 doubleheader? Also, I see 3/21 was thrown out as a possible date. I’m fine with either one of those.

As is become apparent that the season is happening as scheduled there is going to be a mad rush to get drafts scheduled in the last couple weeks of March. I say we lock a date in now (late February/early march?) for ease of scheduling.
-
The season is currently scheduled to start on time. Only a handful of teams have announced spring training dates, but of those who have, all have pitchers and catchers reporting next week.
-
I’m in the later-is-better camp. We drafted early last year with no real benefit. And the longer we go without hearing Fred bitch about trade offers he doesn’t like the better.
-
How about a Sunday 2/21 draft date ?
-
I could not draft any sooner than noon pacific today. Any time after that is good for me.
-
im way open for late Feb
-
"Do nothing" is what we are doing now until the draft. No trades, no cuts, no pick ups. Once the auction is over, we can do all those things. Although I do understand that everyone will be somewhat handcuffed by the lack of information of the winter, we at least would be allowed to make moves.
-
And then nothing to do for 2+ months afterwards as we wait for the season to start in May.... :(
-
We should do this auction in February so we have something to do.
-
I agree with Patrick on that one. Mach 21st works for me.
-
Also worth noting the more contagious b117 variant seems established in Florida (mostly in the Miami area now, but there are confirmed cases in Lee County); it will be much more common in another month. https://www.miamiherald.com/news/coronavirus/article248799490.html

Been vaccinated yet? Because the FL gulf coast is one of the last places I’d go (and I have family there). They’re making no real effort to control community spread; restaurants, bars, gyms, beaches, etc, all fully open with no restrictions. Then add the spring break crowd... and the locals being a vulnerable population (you might be the youngest people—by 20 years—on the beach at Sanibel!). Good luck.
-
Can we ser a date for draft in here ? I propose March 21 Sunday. I will be away on the beach on March 7th weekend
-
I’m looking for a mid-level pitcher without too high of a salary. Please let me know if you see anything that might work.

Somebody trimmed some fat off the brisket

Uh, nvmd. I see now it’s a monstrous park downgrade for Mr Lindor.

If anyone feels Lindor is more valuable as a Met than an Indian, he’s still readily available. As is Kershaw. And Meadows and Urquidy

Going to Sanibel Island we decided
-
Ok ill make my spring break plans for early March
-
My daughter's birthday is 3/23 so that would be a bad night for me. Otherwise it's too far away to tell.
-
I would second that.
-
Might be fun to pull a Sunday double-header. We draft one at like 3 in the afternoon, take an hour dinner break, and then do the other.

Can vouch for 3/14 in FCA. That is the scheduled draft date per our Selection Sunday tradition/rule.
-
When is draft in here? Other league shows Sunday 3/14. I'm trying to plan a spring break trip and like to have these dates written on the calendar.
-
I still need to deal one of my cheap catchers. Here’s an article telling you how great one of them is: https://www.pitcherlist.com/austin-nola-is-san-diegos-third-star/

It's all good I'll be honest was so busy didn't have time to look. Brent did try to give me a heads up but was in the middle of moving. But arb away boys.
-
I spoke with him on 10/30 and reminded him of the deadline...

So no protection for Charles right? Full arbitration is now a go?
-
only Charles is left to name a player
-
I’ll go with Fried. Congrats, Dodgers fans (if any).
-
Sorry, I should have been on top of the player protection thing. Totally forgot 8th place was eligible.
I'll protect Jesse Winker.
Apologies for blanking on this.
-
Agreed. Naming a player last minute undermines the whole system. 10/31 is a fair cut off.
-
Agreed

Deadline seems plenty reasonable.
-
Could we require the protections be declared by 10/31 (halfway through arb period) so that we can all have time to respond and allocate our arbs appropriately?
-
Doesn’t appear so. We can’t all really arb until they do so. I mean, I guess we can, but not using a protection is a queer strategy

Have Henry and Charles protected someone?
-
I'll protect Luis Robert.
-
I’ll probably protect Fried but I wonder if the Braves aren’t going to give Wright another chance tonight....
-
Teams 5-8 protect one?
-
Wright was protecting himself from arbitration.
-
Yo whoever won the right to protect a player from arb, post them here.

Wright made your decision easier, I guess...
-
Okay, I guess it wasn’t justified.
-
Like the Braves I’ve held on to Kyle Wright all year. Tonight is his chance to prove this faith was justified. Did we decide to adopt the qualifying offer once rule? (Fine by me.) When do we need to announce who we’re protecting? I might be leaning towards Téo, but Wright could change my mind.

I'll spend my winnings on high end whiskey and beer
