Yes, sorry for my eastern-centric view.

I assume that's Eastern time, Mikey?

Okay, let’s lockdown two potential draft date (honestly, I don’t have much faith that they’ll settle things in time for either, but let’s hope for the best). The initial date will be Sunday March 27th at 8:30pm. The fallback date will be Thursday April 7th at 9:00. We’ll work at setting the draft on the site so those not really paying attention can see.
-
Is that a feature or a bug?
-
I think people would drink more too on a Friday night
-
I actually prefer weekends for drafts since I don't have to contend with kid care those nights.
-
I have no qualms about drafting on a Friday night , the 25th .
-
Well ,if mlb starts on time opening day is 3/28 anyways
-
I have another league drafting on March 30, so that's a new blackout night for me. Though I guess I could try two drafts at once :0
-
Wednesday March 30 works good , but I'd prefer sooner like Tuesday the 16,th
-
Sorry Mikey, I spaced this assignment. Monday April 11 is our anniversary, I’d rather not draft that day. Or on Tuesday April 19–theatre tix (Jesus Christ Superstar—we’re regressing to our 70s childhoods). Otherwise my calendar is depressingly open. Maybe I can find a conflict if we start talking about June.
-
It appears that only three owners have any limitations regarding draft dates. This should make it pretty easy to lockdown a few days. I’ll send out some proposed dates for people to block out soon. Based on the preferences expressed so far I’d say we’re likely looking at a start time of about 8:30 eastern time, with a draft day sometime around mid-week. If others have different preferences, now’s the time to speak up.
-
I'll be on beach on Sanibel island week of 3/21
-
Alright, please email me dates that DO NOT WORK for you and dates that would be difficult for you to draft from March 14 to May 14. My email is hortongeer@gmail.com

Did Kathy Bates visit you recently?

…the scheduling issue, we’ll start trying to identify a series of potential dates starting from a week after the other draft and running throughout the spring for people to lockdown. Then we can make a final decision once there’s a CBA. I’m willing to take on the task of finding dates through email so folks don’t have to read an endless stream of message (I’m currently laid up with a broken foot, so I have time). Does that work for people?
-
Okay, there seems to be a wide spectrum of opinions (surprise, surprise). There’s strong sentiment for waiting as long as possible and some for drafting as soon as possible, but also some concern that if we wait until the last minute we won’t be able to come up with a date. So, how about this, since the other league has a set early date, that gives those jonesing for activity an early draft, so let’s push this one back. Then everyone gets a little of what they want. To address…

The sooner we draft, more time for trades and add drops to tweek things for your squad
-
I don't mind waiting until there is a new CBA, but the longer this drags, the less time there will be between the agreement and the season. If we are going to wait until we have certainty to pick a date it's going to be hard to find a date. We should either agree in advance to just go with whatever Hitch and Mikey pick (or find a proxy), or go with something like "first Thursday after the CBA, 6:00 PM Pacific"

I don’t want to hold a draft until we know there will be a season. Whether that’s in early March or mid-May

So, we seem to be split between those who’d like to draft as soon as possible and those who’d like to wait as long as possible. Please rank the following options: A) draft in the same timeframe as the other league; B) draft as late as we reasonably can; C) just have Mikey and Hitch decide on their own and be done with it.

I'm operating on the basis of being willfully oblivious.

As for my lack of participation here and on the trade front, i apologize; I’ve not been able to bring myself to do any off-season prep or pay any attention without some deal in place assuring me it’s not all a waste of time.

I’m not sure Rhys is a great price… and I’m the one who was so convinced of his profile that I made a 3-way a few years back involving Judge and Bellinger to acquire him.

No cuts left

I'm about to cut Max Scherzer ($43), but will trade him for one or two decent sub-$5 players. Maybe a prospect, or a cheap SP with upside.
-
If looking forward to it is the good part…isn’t later better? And I loved Beth Orton’s first few albums (Trailer Park, the Best Bit ep, Central Reservation) though I’ve sorta lost track since then. Happy birthday Charles and Fred.

Thanks Brent, may try that sans shrimp which I'm.highly allergic to. The mussels in lunguini might be calling my name

Yeah, probably impossible to pass up $1 oyster day. But other than that, I'm a sucker for cioppino, so I would go that route.

And Happy Birthday, Fred and Charles!

Beth Orton was always a little folky for me. But I will second needed a break from dreary winter weather though. Eastern Washington doesn't get the winter rains like Seattle does, but we still don't see the sun much from November till March.
-
Some of us don't live in nice climates...its a concrete gray sky , snow turns brown guck slush gray ..no greenery or scenery and stuck indoors . The draft is something to look forward to most years. John hook will realize there is s beth Orton song snuck in here
-
I second that, Pat

Hah. I feel like I *should* want to draft earlier—more certainty doesn’t really do much for the poorly prepared, and last year maybe I got lucky in our February draft—but I find it’s impossible to care, especially this year (as anyone who has sent me a trade offer knows).
