I will be disabling playoffs, barring a response from league members to the contrary
-
All - just a heads up - we are still set up to have playoffs this year. They would begin September 7th, amongst the top 4 teams by record, with a 2 week championship matchup. Would we all prefer to not have this, for this year ONLY? That would mean that the top 3 teams regardless of division could be winners, and will give us 3 additional weeks of 2 matchups per week for a total of 9 weeks (18 matchups). I think opting not to have playoffs will keep us all more engaged till the end
-
2 sounds good
-
All, ottoneu is giving us the option to have 1,2 or 4 matchups a week. Given the short season, it makes sense to have 2 matchups, and 4 seems like overkill. Anyone opposed to two matchups a week?

Looking for relievers
-
For those that might be looking for key building blocks for (hopefully) more normal seasons starting in 2021 and beyond, I am making top 10 prospect Julio Rodriguez (SEA) available in trade for a quality SP. We can work out possible other players to be involved depending on who the SP is.
-
I have found a replacement owner for Good Guys - they should be joining today.
-
I have not heard from Good Guys and am working on maybe finding a replacement owner. Will keep you all updated.
-
Yes confirmed
-
Just wanted to confirm if we remain on to draft at 9 pm ET today.
-
Haha don't worry I haven't done a lick of research either. GOOD GUYS GOOD GUYS WHATCHA GONNA DO??? WAITING WAITING TO HEAR FROM YOU!!
-
I'm in. Prepared is another question though...
-
Update: Only waiting on Good Guys and Pizza Rats - all other teams are IN FOR TOMORROW!!! EXCITE!!!
-
That draft date works for me. I'm in.
-
I still have not heard from 4 teams: Pinstripe Pride, Good Guys, Pizza Rats, and Art3mis Agrotera. Since a majority are ok with this draft date, we will be moving ahead, and I have changed it to tomorrow night as discussed. If they continue to be MIA, I will change the divisions to put 2 AWOL teams in each division to maintain the competitive balance.
-
7/15 works for me as well.
-
Wed @ 9pm Eastern works for me

Yes, I can make the 9 pm ET on July 15 work.
-
Hi Guys, Cole has put out a preference of drafting this week, and with the season just 10 days away, I'd like to get the ball rolling on that. I am going to throw out 7/15 at 9PM EST as the draft time. Can everyone please opine on this? Thank you - the Virgins
-
Any day, any time, works for me. I am pretty flexible for the month of July.
-
We need every owner to confirm they will still be playing, right? I would prefer drafting next week during the week as previously discussed; 9pm EST on 7/13, 7/14, 7/15 or 7/16 would be my preference.

Initially, hope everyone is safe and healthy. We are just over 2 weeks until the MLB season is slated to start. Hopefully, all those concerned about injuries and the like have had enough time to calm their nerves and we are now where everyone wanted to be when the decision was made not to do the draft in March. It's time to set a date and time for the draft within the next 10 days at the latest to give time for FA pickups, trades, etc. to finalize rosters before Opening Day.
-
We're definitely not drafting tomorrow, at any rate. I've pushed the draft date to 4/15, just as a placeholder. We'll update as needed. Everyone stay safe and healthy out there.

Im with Cole here again, in terms of not drafting this month. I think we should continue to wait it out and then come back to discussing a new draft date when things in the world start to turn around. There’s so much that can change in the next month, let alone the next week. Examples such as teams or players may lean towards surgery because they know they have the time to do so cause we don’t know when they will resume play. (Chris Sale, Verlander)
-
I am a firm believer in drafting as close to the season as possible. At this rate the season isn't likely to begin until July. In order to know the status of injuries as well as who will win position battles, I believe we should not draft until we at least have a firm date for when the season will begin.

Everything else is closed/postponed/cancelled and families are starting to self-quarantine. Getting a date that works has been difficult. I know I have a lot fewer commitments because of everything that has been shut down for the next few/several weeks. Time and date wise it will be easier to do now than if/when everything starts up again. Everyone is going to have the same info and its an in-progress league so there are fewer players that need to be drafted.
-
I'm also not sure exactly who there is to be worried about. Injured players will be healthier when MLB resumes. Severino still out for the year. Sale is supposed to have a reexamination this week that will tell us either that he is out for the year or will rest & rehab. Even if it's the latter, you will have no better idea now or in July whether Sale will give you 5, 50, 100, 150IP given his history since he was shut down last year. Waiting isn't going to give you any more insight.

There's no right or wrong answer here...I took part in draft on Saturday for a league that started the same year this one did. It was a fun couple of hours and now we're going through FA signings, trade talks and talking trades. It's a nice escape, which is what Fantasy BB should be. I don't agree with the injury concerns. Some industry drafts occur in November. Industry drafts are occurring after MLB shut down. Everyone has the same information & market prices will reflect that.
-
We are all fucked anyway, end of the world...sports wont ever be played again.

we also don't know who will and won't have covid. on the other hand, i totally feel you, OC, re having something nice to do while we're all in lockdown. and, injuries/health is a part of every season. i dunno. i guess i don't care that much, either way, tbh.

I'd also have to agree with Cole in this. Don't want to have any players who we buy in auction end up getting injured and absolutely changing your whole season because we drafted early. Just my opinion on that. To OC TWINS point though, there probably will be less injuries as they will not being playing games until regular season, but could having training injuries of the such. Just my two cents.
-
There’s no way we should keep the draft date. We don’t know when season will start. It changes injury projections and the like. Makes much more sense to draft close to when the season starts, whenever that is decided.

I'd vote to keep the draft date. If we had done the draft last weekend, we wouldn't be looking to undo it now. It would also allow teams to talk trade post-draft while we wait. It would also be nice to have one fun thing not cancelled, suspended or postponed after a week with far too much of hearing those words.
-
Raghav and I spoke, we think it's a good idea to delay the draft til we know more about when the MLB season will begin. If anyone has thoughts, please don't hesitate to holler. I hope everyone's safe and healthy out there.

3/24, 930 PM, EASTERN. EVERYONE HAS 24 HOURS TO RESPOND TO THIS WITH ANY ISSUES, OTHERWISE THAT'S THE DRAFT DATE AND TIME.

3/24 is best for me. 3/22, 3/23, & 3/25 are doable. Later is better, like 9:00 or 9:30. But I know how hard this is and if we land on a date or time I can't do, I will still put the best team on the field that I can.

Can't do 3/23. 3/24 or 3/25 is fine.

Monday, 3/23 9pm EST? I'd like to have at least a few days before the season starts for people to fiddle with their teams.

I am not available for a draft until the evening of 3/17 because I am leaving the country for coronavirus safety. Kidding, just going to Puerto Rico. I am available at 9PM EST any night after that except 3/20
-
Whoever it is that said let's go two weeks out and give everyone time to clear their schedule has the right idea. I am available any of 3/23, 3/24, or 3/25 at night. Please copy/paste and add your team name to each of the following so we can see how many owners are available for each. All at 9:00 pm EST: 3/23 - Spiderman 3/24 - Spiderman 3/25 - Spiderman
-
I could do it Saturday or Sunday night but it would have to be along the lines of the times we've talked about in the weekday evenings, 530-6 pm CA time to start.
-
Nope. That's 8 am CA time. Weekend mornings and afternoons have been booked for some time with commitments I cannot move.
-
We're going to have a regular draft. Could everyone make a Saturday or Sunday morning draft, start at 11am eastern? If so, this weekend?

No feathers ruffled at all...I'm just throwing out options. There's nothing worse than having an auction or draft when 1 (or more teams) don't show up for whatever reason. It's almost guaranteed that team will be a dead team before we hit the All-Star break, if not earlier.
-
I'm new to the league and don't want to ruffle any feathers right off the bat. But I think we need to just pick a draft date/time and just keep it now. I think the second way is unnecessary.
