I want to thank you all for increasing Trout's salary to $32; all I can hope is that he doesn't fall prey to the sophomore slump. :).
-
Hurray! 9 out of 12 teams and more salary for Trout!
-
Okay, I have done what I can to encourage allocating arbitration dollars, and 8 out of 12 teams ain't bad. I would still like to know, however, why people pay for this league and then do not participate...
-
I sometimes ask myself why I continue to e-mail those teams who haven't allocated when it only means that Trout is going to cost more money.
-
I'm looking at you Pioneers! :)
-
We can now see who has yet to allocate their arb dollars; let's try and do better than 50%. :P
-
In case everyone is not already aware, the arbitration allocations do not lock in until Nov. 16, meaning you can change/adjust your allotments up until Nov. 15.
-
wOBAma is correct.
-
IIRC, it's a minimum of $1 per team and a maximum of $3
-
Does anyone recall how much money we can actually spend per team?
-
Thanks to all who voted. Remember, a keeper league is only as good as the participation of its members.
-
Has everyone voted on the new arbitration system?
-
Good point SGC; the league does suffer from lack of participation. Niv was supposed to address how the new arbitration system would deal with absent owners but I haven't heard anything.
-
At least under the old system, it only took say, 3 votes to vote a player off a team. I like the idea of redistributing talent, but then again, I am not American. :)
-
Thanks, Punx. In theory, I like the new system better, but I voted for the old system for our league. I just think that there aren't enough active players in our league who will go through the process and assign points for players values to go up much.
-
For the record, I don't have a life to speak of. :)
-
...but there is also something to be said for those who have a life and cannot dedicate as much time to reading minor league reports and subsequently signing "unknown" players. The new system helps alleviate that tension and imbalance.
-
Especially given the context of a such a deep player pool--who here knows even a fifth of the talent in the minors? There is something to be said for the legwork and foresight in obtaining an inexpensive Profar (or Machado or whomever)...
-
The choice is mine while at the same time allowing other teams to have a say on a player's value in the league context. It will certainly make for a more difficult time in finding inexpensive value, but I think that is a good thing.
-
The reason I like the new arbitration process, to expand on Larry's Pants position, is that I only lose Trout if I want to lose Trout. Trout's cost may skyrocket, but then I can choose to keep him at the new price or cut him and bid on him again later.
-
I mean, he took the risk on Trout and he should reap more than just the one-year reward. I also like the idea of some competitive balance. I might suggest to Niv that a better system would be the new system plus two franchise tags.

I believe that the new system would be more equitable than the old system. At the same time, I find it un-American that the Trout owner is going to have to either lose Trout or pay a lot more for him.
-
I will go on record and say I am for the new arbitration process. :)
-
I would be fine either way. The new system probably makes weird outcomes (no arb case; paying same/less for your player) less likely.
-
Are we going to implement the new arbitration system?
-
Yes, and congratulations to Pioneers as well. Ellsbury just couldn't get it done for me this year.
-
(Also congratulations to Portland on beating Punxsutawney!) =)
-
Congratulations to the Plovers (and to SGC for giving him a run for his money). Hope to see you all next year and do not forget about arbitration voting. Thanks for a great season.
-
It looks like it is going to be a wild ride to the finish in a battle between Plovers and SGC. My only goal now is to beat Pioneers just because I did last year. :)
-
I think he's doing it to reduce the cap penalties for those players. Seems logical enough to me.
-
Smitty, could you please explain your strategy of adding and dropping players within hours of acquiring them...

Studs: You bid $10 on Quintana and then drop him three days later? Why the wanton accumulation of cap penalties?
-
Seriously, anyone else confused by Studs's SP fetish? Anybody? I have 5 SP on the DL and for the life of me I cannot land another one to fill out my rotation. Studs, I give up. You win.
