I get that but if I have 4 SP'ers going one day I would possibly like to start all 4, not choose 2 of the 4. #1 starters generally pitch the same days a great deal of the time. The teams that have 4 aces can't start the 4 aces on the same day. If that is true that is ridiculous.

It's a daily transaction league. So, on opening day, one of your starters is pitching, so you put him in. The next day, another one of your starters is pitching, so you put him in and so on but you have to account for the innings maximum.

Is that correct? You need 5 RP's in your line up EVERY day??? Only 2 SP's??? Seriously? That can't be right?

I can't start the draft earlier, and was actually going to ask if we could start a little later (like 8 Eastern, 5 Pacific)? My guess is the next part will only take 2 hours as not many teams have a lot of money to keep the bidding going

I have a feeling I will dominate round 2 of the draft! Yippy

lets hope it doesnt take that long. if i put up a guy, just dont bid on him cuz its a player i REALLY want!

I did my first Ottoneu draft on Saturday. It lasted about 4 hours. Two teams including mine pretty much filled a team but we still have some cash left. The Others still need quite a bit of drafting so we are doing another session. We drafted about 200 players in 4 hours.
-
I like the idea of splitting the draft. This is the beginning of a league that is meant to last for many years, and so I think it would be best to ensure we have sufficient time. Also, there's no way I can stay up until after midnight Eastern, so I'll end up having to leave.
-
Your active roster is 22 players. Your minor/bench is 18 players. Everyone fills their roster up to 40 players at the auction so you're talking about up to 480 players in a 12 team league.

I assume the search is the only way. I'm not sure if the positions lists updates to maintain a certain number of players as the auction goes on.
-
Stars I appreciate the feedback. But where or how do Iswlwct a player who may not be on that list. Is using the search option the only way?

Cell Block, those are jst the top Free Agents for each position, not a comprehensive list.
-
I have no current ability to change auction settings, so we’ll have to wait and see. As for splitting the draft,I’m just going to play it by ear the night of.
-
I WAS LOOKING AT THE PLAYER LISTING BY POSITION IN THE AUCTION ROOM. iT DOESN'T SEEM LIKE ALL OF THE PLAYERS FOR ANY OF THE POSITION ARE BEING OFFERED. AM I NOT DOING SOMETHING RIGHT?

Why don't we do the 20th and the 27th both at 730pm EST then?
-
Understood...but you're looking at a 6-8 hour draft lasting to 1-3 am EDT on Wednesday morning if you're going to do it all at once. Every player bid on has to go 15 seconds with no further bids in order to be awarded to the highest bidder. At 30 sconds/player you're looking at a minimum of 4 hours and that doesn't include pauses in-between bids. All the articles on the site say it's going to take 6-8 hours.

Here is one more article on the auction that might be helpful to everyone. It notes under the "Draft Time" section that most leagues break up the initial draft because otherwise its going to be a long night/early morning.

Ok, so I think we leave it at 730 EDT on the 20th. So far it kind of works for everyone unless I hear otherwise. If we find its going long I can see if there is a pause ability and we can pick it up again another day. I think the draft link appears here on the league homepage.

See item 10 in the link below regarding separating the draft into different evenings.

Are we set at 7:30 on the 20th? I'm in US Eastern time. Does the auction take place on this website?

should say weekday evening. i am a varsity baseball coach and saturdays are very difficult.

I believe you can pause the draft and then come back and pick it up.

i can do any evening after 7p eastern daylight savings time
-
I don't see a setting for breaking it into 2 sessions so I didn't know you could do that. Brass Monkeys what timezone are you in?
-
Are we planning to split this up into two sessions? That seems to be what most new leagues do for their first draft.

Could we move it back to 7:30 pm EDT? I'm on the West Coast too and will still be at work. I'll deal with it but it would be easier to have it start at 4:30 pm my time than 3:30 pm.

I'm okay on the 20th, but would prefer to not start too much later as I'm on the East Coast. Not sure how long the draft will take, but 7:30 would be about as late as I'd like to start.
-
League is all full up guys, Looking good. If I move the draft later on the 20th by an hour, does that work for everyone?
-
I can do the eve of 20th but will be a couple of hours late. (I am west coast) As long as the draft doesn't lock you out for missing the beginning I am fine. I could start earlier on the 19th or 21st though, but I cant get out early on the 20th Ron
-
The 23rd didn't work for everyone so I bumped it up to the evening of the 20th. Does that work for everyone?
-
I'm available on the 23rd. If that day doesn't work, then evenings (e.g., after 6 Eastern) are the only times that work for me.
-
I can make the evening (CA time) or a weekend work.
