S.O.B. Why couldn't the Paxton news come out a week ago? They say he will miss 3-4 months, is that of the season or from now?

Hey folks, just saw this team on the claim board, this looks like the kind of league I'd enjoy, so I picked it up - fair warning, I'm pretty new to ottoneu, but I'll be around and active. For draft things, I'm very open as to timing, any time after 4 pm EST on any day of the week works just fine for me.
-
My schedule just changed and I work on Saturdays now. I do get home at about 3:30pm eastern time so beginning 4pm eastern I am good to go.

We haven't decided on a date but if you read below the first or 2nd week of March seem to work. I vote for Sat 3/14. in the afternoon.
-
I am trying to recruit an owner. He makes trades.
-
did we settle on a day to start the auction? i have other leagues getting their dates set and hope we can too. thanks!

I know. I was kidding. I was marking more cuts on the 31st when in the middle of it I fell asleep and missed the deadline. Oh, well.

The keeper deadline was January 31. No more cuts not until after the auction.

So, when is the final round of cuts? :-(

in my many years of fantasy baseball, ive developed what i call the tribe factor. if you look back at your past champions in ANY league that you play, i will bet that at least 75% of your first thru third place teams have 3 or less former or current cleveland indians in EVERY year.
that said, my tribe factor right now is FIVE!!! i really just want to hold onto brantley and jones. if you want any others, please let me know - carrasco, perez and justis are available!!!

i think we stay public league 131. it brings up gamedayritual and brent at the same time.

I think we should respect Brent’s choice to stay with public league. he was so involved in several fantasy games, did tons of research on which game was the best and most resembles operating a MLB team. He was a pleasure to play with, offering mediation when there were differences in a league.
-
Thanks for the suggestion Joe. What I have done already was renamed Brent's division to the Bridwell division, while leaving the other two unchanged. This takes a couple days to take effect but we should see the change soon. I know Brent was one of the guys that asked to keep our League name as it is when it came up in discussion previously so I thought I should still keep that the same. Let me know your guys thoughts on that.
-
I support this. I know league name change has come up before but I think this is a little different this time.

I know of a least 3 owners in this league that played in other fantasy formats with Brent Bridwell. If we are not too attahed to the league name of Public League 131. I purpose that we change the name of this league to honor him. I suggest we remane it" Bridwell's Legacy". Any other suggestions that might be better?

i hope you decide to donate to his gofundme. i know, especially as a teacher, we are inundated with requests for money, but in reading his story, it seems like they could really use the help.

I never met Bred either but I was in several leagues with him in the old Gameday Ritual Company for around 13 years. The last time I emailed him was at the end of latst years baseball season. I did know of his health problem over the last few year. R.I.P Brent.
-
Wow this is sad news. Only interacted with him on here over the last couple of years. Was always a class act. Will miss having him as a part of the league. RIP

i played fantasy baseball against brent for better than 10 years. although we never met in person, i found him to be a very very caring person. we shared a bunch of emails thoughout that time about much more than baseball. i hope his team is filled by someone who can take up where he has left off.

im calling for a replay of all our games for the last two seasons, especially last year. i KNOW i would have made the playoffs rather than go 5-17 since im sure i played teams which had astros and red sox on them!!!

5000 - i played in that dudes first league as a tester. played in another deal with him and he tried to branch off on his own. his results packet was like 12 pages, dot matrix printed and copied only on one side of the paper. paid more in postage and paper than i think he really had figured he would. i think he lasted like three seasons.

Akron, I do remember some guys in NY started something like that in the late 70’s ....it had a couple of letters as the name of the company.
-
Love the sarcasm. So, what about my specific proposal of March 13- 15? Still early but enough time to have an idea what the roster spots will because a fair amount of spring training games would have been played.
-
I really don't know how players are going to do until some time around the All-Star game. Even then it is questionable. That however would be best for me as a time to hold the auction.

plus, everyone in here knows their shit. by the time we do draft, if you dont know what position battles are going on, what free agents are left and what their best fits are or the projected stats for seattle's #4 outfielder are, then an espn random roto league may be a better fit.....

Guys I appreciate the discussion. Keep in mind we won't be making any decisions until we are all paid up. Once that happens maybe I can do a straw poll and figure something out based on that. Until then, keep up the discussion if you like. I think KC really summed it up as risk tolerance vs aversion. One thing to remember is that no matter when the draft is we will all have to make roster decisions based on the same data.
-
*has to google when memorial day is* May long weekend? lol, thats kind of funny.
