This is a thing of beauty:
Justin Verlander HOU SP R $28 SP @TOR 2-0 F 9.0 0 0 14 0 1 0 0 91.60pts
-
Freaks, I think he means if the its a normal bracket where the #1 seed with a bye would play the winner of 4 vs. 5 in the second round or if the one seed would play the 6 seed if they were to upset the 3 seed.

I am unsure what you mean by re-seeding. Clicking on the playoffs tab shows the current slots. depending on this weeks results it may change.
-
I've been operating under the assumption that there is no re-seeding in the playoffs. Anyone know if that is not the case? Thanks.
-
Back against the wall man. Really had to rally the boys this week. But if I remember correctly, you had a pretty big week against me in the 'ship last season...defending champ.

Welcome to the league!

New guy on the block and apparently a glutton for punishment. I’m open for business but I will not move any of my top pitchers.
-
Ultimately I would vote to have someone take the team sooner than later.
-
I know someone who is interested. He's never played ottoneau, but I've been in leagues with him for over 10 years, and he's good at fantasy overall.
-
fantastic. since we started voting, Yes votes so far - danger, aaron, bop, me, drake. No votes: Bill

I think the long term health of this league outweighs any short term competitive balance issues. I vote we find someone ASAP.

Drake, appreciate you taking my point into consideration and I understand that you think this is in the best interest of the league long-term. Maybe we can work with trying to iron out the scheduling as well, so we dont play a team twice in a row. Yards, I took Civis in 7th grade, honors. I want people in this league that play a 20 buck one as if it was a grand. The entry price shouldn't affect our passion for it.

it makes it more enticing, and hopefully that will help us get a decent/competitive manager who will carry the team forward next year.

It isn't unheard of for real life MLB teams to fire there managers around this time of the year when it becomes evident that they are totally incompetent. I played Rizzo way back in Week 6 when he was probably still somewhat active, but I still need to play the team coming up too. The team is in fact pretty bad -- it isn't magically going to change from 0-17 to some sort of juggernaut. The benefit of finding a new owner now is giving them some time to develop it from the dumpster fire that it is

TBD, I understand logically what you're saying but do you think it makes sense for us, as a league, to hold back from finding a replacement manager so that you can walk your team through two non competitive weeks?

Yes.

and mav, we wouldn't be auctioning off his team. the new owner in the offseason would just be limited to making cuts and trades, but wouldn't be able to pick up players until the auction draft at the beginning of next season.

this is a $20 league, so it's not exactly Congress, either. let's just get this done, please recognize also that we didn't have to put any of this to a vote. high school civics class compelled me

3-4 days is fine. thursday, then? the board can be the poll.

Hey everyone - I think it would be best if we acquired a new player for the newly vacant spot instead of auctioning off the assets
-
Where is the poll? I vote no - let's wait until the off-season.
We should also extend the deadline. This feels very bush league. There's no real urgency, so give people 3-4 days. Forcing a vote on such short notice makes it seem like the commissioners have made up their minds and don't care what the rest of the league thinks, but are putting it up to a vote for the sake of optics.
-
Aren't we like a week or two away from the trade deadline? How much could a new owner reasonably add to the team at this point?
-
Yes.

if he had gone on a 2 month vacation without internet access, and then came back to set his lineup against you, would that be unfair to you? also, in a more practical sense, teams can only cut or trade in the offseason. that's a lot less attractive to potential owners than a team now, which can pick up FAs. also, it would mess up the allocation process not to have an owner.

Well, essentially the team isn't just bad bc it's bad. My assumption is that he has been neglecting setting his rosters , meeting start limits, DLing players, filling open roster slots etc. He hasn't been active. Many Teams have played him this way. I play him twice coming up, and could have playoff implications for me. That's an added benefit that I dont receive if say an owner comes in and sets lineups.

Hate the Drake . You make a solid point. I change my vote to getting someone now. I think most of us are in other league and maybe we can get someone from there.
-
Personally I think it would be best to get a new manager NOW so they have time to put their stamp on the team and make some changes before having to cut and rebuild for draft/new season. I really don't understand the argument against that. How would it be unfair?

I would rather recruit from the community page and get someone someone with experience rather than a newbie in the early spring.
-
If we get an owner now than that will probably make trades to get talent that he couldn't draft next year. Is that what we want or don't want?
-
Shouldn’t we try and recruit a replacement via the community board? We’ll be doing that anyway come off-season.
-
"With the trade deadline a few days away, not much time for a new owner to do much other than play the FA market and shore up holes." I thought our trade deadline was August 31. So ,a new owner could make trades. All that said it is probably best to get a new owner in the off season.
-
I vote we just play it out for the rest of the year, then find a new owner in the offseason.
-
I got a trade reply message from him on July 2. With the trade deadline a few days away, not much time for a new owner to do much other than play the FA market and shore up holes. I would propose we wait until the playoffs begin and then post for a new owner. That way it won't affect this season's competition, yet a new owner can take control, work the FA's, and participate in Arbitration before offseason trading opens up again.
-
Leave as is and fix find a replacement owner in the offseason.

turns out we can't set lineups, only move players, so it's moot for the moment. but if we find a replacement owner, we're slotting them in. if it seems unfair to you based on your personal matchup schedule, I understand that. but 12 humans is always better than 11

His team should stay the same. Every squad has played him as is. I play him to weeks in row, i feel like it would be unfair if it is actually managed properly. Let it stand.

This is a "long week" everyone. We only get 9 starts from tomorrow 12th thru the following Sunday 21st. Roster accordingly.
