Kurt Suzuki also available for catching responsibilities at a fraction of the price
-
Fortunately for you, Mike Ford, Alex ClAudio, and Bu[i]ck Farmer remain available at more affordable prices
-
Turns out I couldn’t afford that Mercedes!
-
.... and take all your Mets, Nationals, Red Sox, and Orioles out of your lineups! We're not done with COVID bullshit yet!
-
it's happening!!! opening day!!! set those lineups!!
-
At the very least they should make them play different positions. That they're all pitchers is confounding.
-
Rob Manfred really needs to address the fact that Tyler, Taylor, and Trevor Rogers are all allowed to be relevant MLB players at the same time.
-
At least ‘BRRRRRRRR What Happened to Eloy’ finally has an answer to the question posed.
-
He was the only ChiSox youngster I liked. Maybe Nick Madrigal can bat 802 times now
-
I wish I could return to a time before I ever read the words "ruptured pectoral tendon."
-
More like GRRRR What Happened to Eloy :(

jwbixby@gmail.com via Paypal. All complaints of breach of fiduciary duty on my part should go to the Maryland Court of Appeals, Office of Bar Counsel.
-
Reminder, if you have not done so already, send your $25 buy-in to league treasurer Bixby before opening day. First - $130.
Second - $90.
Third - $55.
Fourth - $25.

Draft starts in 8 hours!
-
PSA: as everyone gets their auction prep finalized, please do not forget about Bubba Starling and A.J. Cole.
-
Fixed! Thanks!
-
Heads up! Looks like the draft day was accidentally set as Feb. 4th, not March 4th - don't want that to cause any errors.
-
So far we're looking good for a weekday draft in early March (assuming Andrew can find a day to skip out on work responsibilities). Get those Doodles filled out and we'll get a draft on the calendar!
-
The key here is to vote yes on every single available time slot
-
As usual, all times are EST and the specific times on each day are flexible. If you can't make it until 9, that's fine -- we'll sort out specifics once we get a sense for what days work for people.
-
Okay, let's see if we can nail down a date in March. Doodle link! https://doodle.com/poll/i5rubq43wv4dwszg?utm_source=poll&utm_medium=link
-
The one year old franchise owner here sleeps by 8:00 so that helps!
-
Agree with Doron, except that my schedule, while ostensibly more open these days, also involves a lot more risk that my 2 y/o assistant GM somehow manages to bid $37 on Oliver Perez while my back is turned.
-
I don't think the schedule issues are going to be so major this year that it will have a major impact on anyone's decision making - if it's 140 or 150 or 160 games shouldn't make much difference? At the same time, I assume everyone's schedules are still freer than in past years, so hopefully finding a convenient date/time isn't too difficult.
-
We should also discuss what we want to do about the draft. Should we find a day in March and just go for it, or do we want to wait for a resolution to the schedule drama between the owners and players' association?
-
Much like actual Brad Hand, I believe he would have passed through release waivers unclaimed, yet will ultimately fetch about the same price at the auction
-
Yeah FWIW (and not to pile on at all, fair question) I was considering doing this with Hand before ultimately deciding he might go for more at auction (prove me right league!). Agree we've seen it before.
-
While it's admittedly frustrating to see a player you like or value go for too little, or nothing but cash in this case, I think the league has had quite a few deals like this. Kind of like a waiver claim or trading a non-tender candidate in MLB for cash considerations.
-
Having received very limited engagement on offers to just about everyone for that player, there was little to suggest he’d go for more at auction, and one team was interested at the given price. Since I wouldn’t be in the market for that player given my budget, it helps me to take dollars off the auction board later by having him stay on another roster. I didn’t know you’d be interested in him otherwise I would have offered!
-
What's the case against it? The standard Ottoneu rules allow it, so I feel like we'd need a good reason to overrule those.
-
If that's the case, fair enough. Still feels hard to justify.
-
Yeah, I agree with you and wouldn't do it myself for that reason. But if I recall correctly, we litigated this a while back and couldn't find a reason to make these kinds of trades against the rules.
-
I mean, ok, but you've already got evidence that at least one team values him at the current dollar amount, and marginal dollars x, y, and z that another owner spends on another single player have, realistically, minimal impact on your outcomes.
-
I think the rationale is that if you think they'll go for less than their current price at auction but someone else wants them at that price, you're better off making a trade to lock in the existing price.
-
Sorry but what is the justification for gifting a player to another owner vs just cutting him? Before the keeper deadline it's the same cost to the original owner, but wouldn't you rather 11 other teams bid on that player in the draft?
-
I got to trade for Eddie Rosario twice *and* trade him away twice. Offseason was an unmitigated success.
-
I'm not quite sure what happened, but I've been having Ottoneu emails pop into my spam folder for a minute or two...Apologies for the delayed trade responses!
-
I believe a few of you are DC-based: hope you're staying safe today!
-
Javy-Erod trade vetoer: let’s talk!
-
Can confirm this was the intended trade this time. Sorry for the complication everyone!
-
Team sources: talks broke down on the cusp of several potential deals... I’m told that mystery teams are in the mix as the two parties head back to the starting blocks...
-
Team sources: while the Turner-Baez deal reverberates through the league, I’m told that a follow-on deal is imminent that could round out a mega-swap... Developing...
-
And I probably have a few weeks of needing to add "Yes this was the offer I intended" whenever I propose something.
-
It's definitely not my proudest moment
-
This league has a long and storied history of inadvertently *accepted* trades, but I don't seem to recall any inadvertently *offered* trades!
-
Errr. That Justin Turner trade that was accepted was not what I intended to offer and was accepted too quickly for me to withdraw it! Working with Kris to see if he'll be open to amending or canceling, but I did make the mistake so ball is in his court.
-
Last day to finish up your arbitration! Get it in!
-
BUT WHAT IF I ALREADY ASSIGNED MY ARB DOLLARS?!? 😭
-
Distract yourself from the hellscape around us by assigning arb dollars!
