Greetz y'all. I have decided to leave the league. I have 14 leagues and cant really pony up the $50 more for my addiction to Ottoneu. It's been fun playing with you guys and wish you all well. Maybe now Hitless and Bushwackers can finally trade for the prospects they've been hounding me for ;) 'Til we meet on another field friends. . . .
-
Hitless- I can't change the league rate through Otto and I think Dragon is still in a state that can't but we should poll this discussion for next year. In the interim I'm collecting a $50 Venmo/Zelle pool. I structure will be roughly 70/20/10 for payout. Going to try to make last place just get their $20 otto fee back in winnings lol. If you're interested send me a DM and i'll send you back my Venmo/Zelle.
-
Welcome to the league, Spikes. On another note, in previous discussions we talked about doing a pay league, looks like there is a plan to do a voluntary pool. VA has since changed their laws regarding sports betting/pay leagues so Jeters and I are now able to participate in a pay league. Wanted to revisit the idea of changing the league to a pay league if we have a unanimous vote. Otherwise the venmo/zelle path works for me.
-
All- Welcome Hangin' Spikes to the league taking over for Even Year BS.
-
Wow, Jorge Soler has been traded 5 times in this league since the 2023 draft!
-
Couple more days left to finish arbitration gang! If you are friends with or have any managers contact info that hasn’t completed their arb yet shoot them a friendly reminder.

Reminder to all that we have 10 more days to allocate Arb. I hope everyone returns but please let me know if you do not plan on returning so I can fill a spot with someone that will allocate. Thanks.
-
Congrats Hitless on the back to back. Thanks again for all that played. Next year I will be doing a private Venmo/Zelle pool for $50 for whoever wants to join (not mandatory). Money will go to whoever makes it the farthest for those who play, tiebreaker will be most points scored in playoff round if necessary.
-
Thanks to all who played this year, and good luck to all that made playoffs! Congrats to Can-o-Corn on his first bye week and Jeters from flipping a down and out roster to a juggernaut.
-
Our standings are looking like the MLB, looks like there are only a couple sellers and a big glob in the middle.
-
Haha! All that just to move up one spot in the standings…
-
What a day for Hash. 265 points?!
-
I was at Wrigley for Yammamoto’s start last Sat. Was cold but he was on fire. Saw Ohtani hits!
-

Opening day is here! Good luck to all, Golden Flag badges fly forever!
-
Actual baseball starts tomorrow. Make sure you set those lineups.
-
I shall survive. Good luck all.
-
Sorry I had to step away for 15 I let everyone know the nomination lock was going back up before that, looks like it ended when everyone was marked "done with draft"
-
A few of us were waiting to be unlocked and couldn't make picks.
-
Looks like the draft ended! Auctions are now open and the season begins.
-
I may need to have you guys hold the start of the draft by 5-10 minutes if you don’t mind.
-
Poll finished 6/6. See you all in a few hours.
-
Poll results are in. 5 in favor of trying hard cap, 6 in favor of keeping the same. Don't need the 12th vote, we'll keep the soft cap as is this season. Thanks all.
-
Draft starts in T-Minus 49 hours
-
We have 8 response so far, its split down the middle so please vote before this weekend. If it ends even we'll leave the rule as is. Also, just found out that Typeform maxes out at 10 votes so if you have an issue please just message me directly lol.
-
Final bit of business, as promised here is the poll for the cap rule.

Then its settled! Saturday 1:00 ET or 10am for us on the west coast.
-
I can be available Saturday 1:00 - 4:00 ET. The first slot on 3/16 in the poll. Looks like everyone else but me showed open there anyway.
-
Any word Hitless? If you could do sat 16th then we would have equal participation for that day as the 24th and i think we lock it in.
-
My brother's birthday is the weekend of St Patrick's day. I'm trying to nail down plans with my family now, I may be able to open up that weekend. Stand by.
-
yeah if its close on availability im going to opt to have the draft before opening day
-
I'd like to get the draft done before then, but I get its probably hard to find a date that works
-
Hey All, bushwackers reminded me because of the dodgers/padres the season is starting early on the the 20th-21st. If we can draft before that would be great but also open to the idea of just eating those two games and not allowing auctions to start until after our draft. Open to thoughts.

Reminder to please do the poll. Looking like Sunday the 24th 1pm PT is most likely at this point
-
Here is the poll. Doodle limited me to the draft times so its more or less weekend morning mid-day or afternoon plus a few nights.

Have we started the process to selecting a draft date?
-
Appreciate the input Hitless, always trying to make this league the best league so all feedback is welcomed.
-
Last response from me and I’ll rest my case. I think encouraging use of the trade block and message board would help a great deal in solving our problem without additional restrictions on gameplay. If you know a guy is out there potentially going for undervalue you can jump in on negotiations. It takes some initiative from the manager though. At the end of the day I’ll have fun regardless of the rules. Excited for the season to get here. College baseball 7 days away.
-
For me the idea isn't to prevent a high dollar team from "breezing" through the playoffs. Just want to make sure that if they do decide to push in the chips they actually pay adequate future value.
-
My respectful disagreement was for hitless FYI haha I like the blood pumping on message board, means we care and I like that!

Well I just respectfully disagree. $500+ rosters breeze thru playoffs like it’s nothing haha it’s much more fun to me to have a competitively balanced league that still allows you to expand a playoff push within reality but hey that’s what the voting poll is for! Make sure to vote everyday me and thanks for handling that Buehler , hope we can get a draft date with minimal juggling act this year that works for everyone.

The idea is still to allow for that kind of buying and selling transaction but force the selling team to more closely loan the value of what they are shipping out.
Again, this was an idea and im not sure it will be better in practice, I thought it was worth experimenting. I love the otto economy as much as anybody but I don't want to take it as gospel that the built in rules are absolutely perfect and have no flaws. I love the discussion though and we'll definitely vote on it!
-
I see your point. If the hard cap was $400 I would agree more but $500 still leaves a lot of room for the most obvious championship strategy of "pushing in the chips". The idea was to prevent a "selling" team sending off a $25 true value piece with an outsized loan of $75 just to get back a marginal prospect that the selling team may or may not keep because why not take a chance on a marginal prospect when you know you're not competing this year.
-
I am not opposed to it because it gives a new flavor to the league, but I just don’t completely agree with the argument for it. No one can really “buy” a championship. There are no small market/big market teams. We all have the same resources of $400. A hard cap eliminates an entire strategy for winning. If no one else is willing to take on high loans that’s a market inefficiency, an idea this site was basically built around. I think a hard cap rewards people for not trying different strategies.

I'll include it when I send out the poll for scheduling the draft.
-
I see good points on both sides of the coin, I'm not entirely sure its a better league with the 125% hard cap but I thought it was something worth experimenting! There is still room to give loans but as bushwackers said, it prevents the $600 and in theory forces teams to shop the market a bit more for their prospects. I didn't think there would be much push back to giving it a shot, we can definitely throw it to a vote. Don't want to implement anything that most of the league isn't for.
-
For the record I’m not saying the championships of dragonflies or hitless last year are BS or anything because of high $ rosters, you simply operated within the rules and won the league nothing wrong with that. I just personally think $500 is plenty for playoff push and have seen teams in other leagues get into the 600’s which is absurd to me and I would like to prevent that from happening one of these years.
