Fine with $50 or $20, would prefer to run through Ottoneu if possible
-
I’m fine at $50 or $20. Doesn’t matter to me between those two. Engagement in this league seemed pretty low, so if bumping it into a prize league increases that I’m here for it

I prefer to remain at $20, and I'm sorry, but I renewed three weeks ago.

Thanks TLM and Lightsabers for your responses! I forgot to add, please don't pay to renew your team until we make this decision - if we upgrade we need to upgrade to a prize league before people pay.

I basically agree with Midnight... my preferences would be $50 or stay at $20 and run the prizes through ottoneu.
-
I'm game to move up to a prize league, but don't want to go too pricey - def keep it at or under $100/team. I agree about Ottoneu keeping a large piece of the prize money, but they keep $20/team in our current league...or just a little more in prize leagues (ex: $21, $23, or $25/team for $50, $75, and $100 leagues respectively). I say all that to say I'd prefer to keep it all within Ottoneu if we up the league to a prize league. Think of those extra few bucks as a way to support Niv/Ottoneu!
-
Now that arb is done, we can start trading as well as make changes for the upcoming season. Last year we talked about moving this league up in price. I personally prefer to play in prize leagues, but I realize that 1) things are tough for a lot of people right now and 2) the Ottoneu rake is pretty steep. So could everyone please way in on whether 1) you want to stay at $20, or move to $50, $75, or $100 and 2) if you prefer to run the prize $$ through Ottoneu or a 3rd party site like LeagueSafe

I won’t be at auction since my max bid is only $3. Good luck guys!

I am fine either way.

I'd lean towards keeping the date as is - rescheduling will be a pain in the ass, especially if we're entirely sure when the season will resume.

I want to keep the scheduled time and date because getting another date when teams are available will be difficult especially with Palm Sunday, Easter and Passover coming up in early and mid April
-
I would rather continued as scheduled because there's no guarantee we can find a scheduled time when baseball resumes.
-
I'd vote to continue on as currently scheduled. It does not seem like waiting 2+ weeks will help clarify position battles or pitching rotations as there are no spring training games to help clarify anything. I'm sure there will be a few "ramp-up" games before they actually start playing but I would imagine we would prefer to have already drafted by then. The only thing that helps if we delay the draft is around injured players...not worth trying to find another date IMO.
-
While I’d love the distraction of a draft, it doesn’t make much sense to have anytime soon IMO. No telling how long before games are being played, and the time between now and then can lend greater clarity on players which would impact auction prices

In my other Otto league we held a vote to delay the draft until Mlb resumes activities, should we?
-
Hey, anyone here looking to join one more league this year? I really have the urge to do a first year draft this year so I'm trying to find owners to join a new league. FGPTs, $20 with a *slow auction* via Couchmanagers so we won't need to block off a big chunk of time to draft. Will consider non-standard Otto rules ($0 MiLB, arb coupons, salary floor, etc etc) after I fill the league. Please let me know if you are interested (or if you know anyone who may be). Thanks!
-
That is good for me.
-
8pm is good for me Xanders
-
I can probably make it work and if not will find a proxy for an hour or so until I can join
-
March 22 at 8 pm is good for me Neanderthals
-
OK, so far with 9 responses the only clear option is Sunday March 22 at 8PM EST. I've tentatively set the draft for that date. I know Yari's has a conflict there and I'll work with them to figure it out, but please let me know ASAP if anyone else has a conflict.

OK, if we don't have 100% agreement on the slow draft, let's move to trying to schedule a live draft. I'll create a doodle and get that out later this morning. If there are specific days you absolutely cannot make a draft, send them to me in a DM.

Actually it is quite the opposite. With multiple auctions going on you have a better idea on where to allocate your money. You know who has the high bid on every players that is currently being auctioned and how much money everyone has to spend and how many players they need and what positions they need to fill.
-
yes i am dead set against it It would be different if we were all starting from the same place but we are not- some with more money some with less so those with less need to be a little more careful and I think one can be a little more careful with a single auction
-
I’d prefer a live auction.

In light of these answers i want to go with a single night of auction as in the past and finish with it in one night
-
The site will not allow you to go over the $400 limit. If you have bids/reserves on multiple players the total can’t exceed $400. You don’t have to check multiple times a day. If you want to pay no more than $10 for Clayton Kershaw make that you max bid. The settings allow you to reset the clock when a new high bid happens. I usually check mine in the morning and at night and that’s it. I am fine either way. Finding a day is a challenge if several are in multiple leagues.
-
My understanding is that the site will not let you go over budget. I'm not sure if this addresses the concerns raised here, but any time you go are outbid the clock resets, giving you time to respond. So I'm not sure that there would be many cases where you would want large reserve bids on multiple players, but maybe I'm just not imaginative enough.
-
@Neanderthals that's one of my concerns as well

How does this type of auction work if you put bids in for 2 guys and one throws you over the budget limit if you were to get him . Which one has priority I think I want to opt for a one evening auction which teams have more control over
-
It would likely take days, rather than weeks since this isn't a first year auction (depending on settings). Given my commitments I would prefer a slow auction but either one would work.
-
Agree w/ Upton Funk. On a completely selfish level, my wife and I are about to have our first baby, and picking one night to knock out a draft is going to be much easier than remembering to check an auction multiple times a day for a few weeks

I personally cant dedicate a low level of focus for an extended period of time, which is what sounds like is needed for a couchmanager auction. i really need to be able to set aside a window to do the auction with family and work schedules.
-
it seems like you'd have to check in on a slow draft a lot to make sure guys aren't slipping through the cracks, you're reacting to who is/isn't available, etc., right? If that's the case, I think I'd prefer a live auction -- I don't think I could be checking back and forth multiple times a day for a few weeks to facilitate a slow draft. Personally, would be much easier to just dedicate a few hours on one evening to completely focus on the draft

Here's a link to the one I'm in, it started on Saturday (Feb. 1) at 9:30 am: https://www.couchmanagers.com/auctions/?auction_id=318

The way that the slow auction that I am in is set, there is no absolute max time. Once a player is nominated the clock starts ticking down from 24 hours. In the first 16 hours the clock just runs and people bid up the player (or not). In the final eight hours of the auction if the person winning the player changes the clock resets to eight hours. This set up is called a 24 hour auction with 8 hour resets, or something like that.
-
I am currently in the middle of a couch manager's slow auction so I will add a bit about my experience. Each person can nominate a max of two players at a time, so there would usually be 24 players up for auction at any given time. The one I'm in has three per person, so 36 at a time.
-
Got it — so to make sure I’m following, there would be a max of 2 players up for bid at one time, you can set reserves so you don’t have to “plus one” each time the bid changes, and each guy is up for a max of 24 hrs. Do I have that right?

You can go to couch managers and look for free auction 315 and look at the set up. That is the 20 team league auction site. We are starting Saturday. It will last around two weeks.
-
Don’t have to constantly watch. When players are won, the team that nominated them can then nominate someone else. You can have several auctions going at once. I like it and would have no problem with it.
-
Couch manager is a site that allows you to do free slow auctions. We are doing one in the 20 team league. Each team nominates players, typically 2 each in the beginning and the auctions last for 24 hours. There are different settings, but in the two leagues I am in, during the first 12 hours if someone is a new high bidder the cloak resets to 24 hours. When it is under 12 it doesn’t. You can set a reserve, unknown to anyone else, that will automatically increase your bid up to that point so you

I'd actually love to do a Couchmanagers slow auction - it's a bit of work for me to get keepers loaded, but it's certainly easier than trying to schedule drafts. Is there anyone dead set against a Couchmanagers slow auction? Please try to get me a response (for or against) by Thursday (2/6) at 12PM ET.

As someone in (probably) too many leagues, I would be totally up for a Couchmanagers slow auction if that option is on the table
