still hoping for my Jays. pipe dream maybe but it makes allot of sense if they are serious about committing to winning.

Would he really go to the Mariners? My guess is that he goes to a winning team for a lesser price. But there is no telling who that team will be

But the big question is, which team takes Cano?

Thanks for your thoughts. I think Fister fit well in the Nats. He is a personal favorite. Nats will have an interesting bunch of SP's, but what about Ellsbury to Yanks, Morneau to Rockies & Salty to Marlins?

Johnson to the A's was solid, they have a lot of injury prone players, so if things work out, great, if not, he will be something they can move midseason, maybe move him at that point either way. Mcann perfect match, Fister was straight up theft.
-
McCan looks to be one of the best signs thus far based on need. And Fister to the Nats is ridiculous. Were they looking to move him that bad?
-
Here we go again, what do you think of Johnson to the A's, Fister to Nats, Mccan to Yanks and Pierzynski to the Red Sox? Feel free to take up other players to the discussion.

count the number of bike riders who have been suspended for PED. Asking me when someone is performing at a high level if it is due to the PED.

I do not mean that it is the only solution, it is a suggestion, but you should look at as many options as possible. Otherwise the risk is that you end up where bicycling is today. It has big credibility problem. ...

yeah but as a GM how do you know who is using and who isnt using? Just because someone hasnt been caught doesnt mean they arent using. You basically just have to hope the guy you sign isnt on PED's

Agree with Ninja that contracts should be lower for Known PED users because you dont know if the PED's were the reason for their statistics. But unfortuantely talent wins out and teams will pay those they feel will bring them what they need no matter what

Basically PED users would be treated (financially) like someone coming off of Tommy John

I wasn't necessarily suggesting that no team would offer a contract. Just that the contracts would be lower (like Melky Cabrera last year).

I understand exactly what you mean, but I think this way, if we have two players who are x and y. X has used PED. Y have not been using PED. Y is offered a contract. X will not be offered a contract.

wow that was weird. but to finish if no team offered a contract to PED users who can still play that would be unusal and I think the players union would be asking alot of questions as to why
-
it is self regulating but I think the players union would think it odd that no team would offer contracts to players who can still play the ga m

It is better to spend the money on other players. I fail to see how they could be sued. I could be wrong? Feel free to explain to me what you mean. It could be, as I think ninja mean, a self-regulating system.

In Kemp, a thought, a player who become old enough loses his true talent, he is no longer good enough and then he gets no new contract. Is it not reasonable to reason in the same way with players who have used PED? They are no longer good enough.

i believe if no one offered PED users contracts then they could sue th owners for possible collusion. They are better off putting harsher penalties in the majors and minors to try and fix the problem
-
The way I see it, bodies just fall apart after cutting the PED use. Or players just return to their mean talent level. Either way you don't get what you paid for in terms of stats.

I suspect that the Cards are regretting Peralta fairly soon afterwards and whomever pays Cruz will be doing the same.

I think the matter will police itself, the Jays are already regretting a relatively modest contract that they handed to Melky Cabrera last year. The Yanks clearly regret the A-Rod deal (although they may get bailed out of that).

Since I'm curious of me and interested in others' opinions, I wonder if it's okay to pay the players who have used PED? Should the clubs at all give these players new contracts? Or is it that one should allow PED?

Does it not also matter that Cabrera will be 31 years next season and that he has a contract until 15? If I'm not mistaken? Is it not possible that some of the money is used to extend his contract?

In the end I think it favors the Tigers since they free up more money to use in the future. But for this year it allows Profar to play full time and makes the Rangers better overall
