Zombie teams are abandoned teams. The point was this year is so weird that we shouldn't penalize an owner for opting out or simply not paying attention even if the rest of the league chooses to engage.
-
I vote to play the season, but roll the prize money over to 2021. If that's a no go, I would vote to freeze the season until next year's draft, and roll the prize money over to 2021. If that's a no, I guess I'll just have to win this thing.

As mentioned before , I think we should vote on whether to play or not. I also said I would go with the majority. I dont know what a zombie team is about.
-
Asked about zombie teams on slack. This seems like a smart take for 2020: "Most years I wouldn’t want a zombie team. But I think that this year is different, for all sorts of reasons. I’d rather retain a good owner for next year rather than roll the dice on a replacement owner to try to make 2020 a tad more competitive."
-
I personally am down to play this year.
-
Could we do a smaller side pot and then just essentially punt the rest of the money to next year? But yeah I don't see how we have a league with some teams competing some not?
-
JC, I don't see how a few select teams can choose not to play if there's a season. Just my evolving opinion of course. If Niv offers a way for a league to sit it out, we could vote on it. But if we vote to play, an individual owner would have to stick to that league decision, no? Or forfeit their team I guess. Anyway, this is something for the new commissioner(s).
-
Geoff makes it official. Welcome.
-
Can we hold the prize money over to 2021 and those who want to play can play?
-
This trade almost involved David price...
-
I play in two other leagues with milb rosters who each do it differently. I prefer having milb guys be only on the milb rosters. But I just joined and don't have a huge preference
-
Yup, Mize and Rutschman last couple years. Maybe not Jasson D though.
-
I thought the same thing last year about Jasson Dominguez. But no one complained and I think it's happened in all three years anwyay, no? Full disclosure, it was me this time :)
-
Never mind, I just looked at my team for the first time in awhile. A solid middle of the pack if ever I’ve seen one

If the league gets going I’m happy to play out the season. Could be my only chance of willing for awhile...

Boo to people signing draft picks in an MiLB league. Very boo
-
Just wondering if we can vote on this. I am willing to go with a consensus of course.
-
As a total new-b to the league I'll offer my opinion that I think we should play if we can.
-
Personally I guess I feel like it's my responsibility to play it out regardless of the conditions. BTW Jed is now commissioner. :)
-
I'm gonna just go with whatever you guys in the league prefer. I don't have a strong opinion either way.
-
We have a replacement for Trey. Geoff King, who filled in for JC at the last auction. This happened on Slack today. If Niv really does offer the option to skip the season and have the fees carry over to 2021 we could vote on that. I don't know my preference. The season could be fun regardless of the length. Or they could play 5 games and cancel the season.
-
One more point, it seems Trey doesnt want to play this season, so that makes it even more strange with only 11 teams.
-
Thoughts on skipping the league at this point? I read that this seems to be ok with Niv, the money being returned and then we can hold it for next year or return it. Personally ,baseball and fantasy baseball are all about the marathon it presents, as this will be a drastically shortened season I find the whole idea of playing it to be not so much fun. Plus there are so many unknowns and I believe a decent chance it never even plays out the schedule as proposed.
-
Sorry to leave you guys hanging. Great league, just need a year off to take a break from baseball. Wish you guys a great season. It will be an interesting one.
-
Don't see the point in skipping a season. If they play, we might as well too. What would skipping it accomplish? I'd be in favor of skipping off-season increases though.
-
I'm skipping it. Will stay in the league though...
-
I fully agree to skip it, a 50 game season doesnt hold the same appeal at all.
-
What's everyone else's opinion on the season if Manfred force's 50 games played out? I think I'd personally feel inclined to skip it although I doubt niv would allow that option.
-
I totally agree, it wont be the same without you, but hey family for sure comes first.
-
Bummed to hear we wont have you this year Trey. Understandable though. Wish you and the family the best bro!
-
Guys, I will not be playing Ottoneu in 2020. Even if there is a 2020 season, I'm going to take at least a year off and reallocate some fantasy time to watching more real games, playing more catch in the backyard with my son, etc. to hopefully rekindle my interest for the game long term. If anyone here is interested in taking over as commish, I can provide access to the MiLB sheets, etc. and make sure the league makes a smooth transition. Please let me know if you have replacement ideas.

On another topic, anyone interested in doing a snake draft for fun? A small, $10?, entry fee with winner take all. Mixed or only depending on number of owners. eg if only 12 then an only. 5x5 format, maybe OBP rather than BA, limited transactions so maybe a large reserve list but TBD. I have about half a dozen people committed to doing. Maybe on fantrax as I dont like ESPN and want something with no fee of course. Pls lmk if interested by messaging me. thanks.
-
Also say go with it as it is, especially as teams have already cut more expensive players.
-
No
-
Even though I'd benefit I'd say leave it all as is. Don't add to the weirdness. If there's a season at all play who you've got.
-
Proposal would be something like: “Each team can announce the removal of cap penalties for any player dropped between the auction date and the start of the 2020 season (TBD)”.
-
Good question and I would say yes. Open for discussion but I don’t see why not.
-
Leaning no. What about those of us who cut a high priced TJ dude already? Would they also receive this penalty free opportunity?
-
It's a unique world, and a unique season: would the league be interested in opening up penalty-free roster cuts until the season starts, assuming it does start later this summer? If there is no baseball in 2020, I assume we just trim rosters at the regular 1/31 deadline, but if MLB starts in June (example), does the league want to have the option to cut players between now and then? Open to feedback/ideas. Would also be open to another MiLB draft before season starts, if wanted.
